This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [5068], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., through his sister, Miss […], recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now, while we find the conditions are apparently hopeless when it comes to a great deal of improvement - the deformities having been a part of the karma, and the conditions that have arisen in the present experience, so that hands, arms, limbs, all are deformed in a manner - there may be relief, though not curative measures.

4. We would use the Wet Cell Appliance carrying both silver and gold vibratorially, with the daily massage following the Appliance treatment. Thus, in the course of ten to fourteen months, we would begin to see improvements.

5. This would necessitate long, hard and persistent activities for those who would bring any sort of relief for the body.

6. For charging the Appliance we would use two pounds of the Copper Sulfate and the rest of the ingredients in the same proportion.

• [Note: When this reading was mailed to Mr. [5068], no mention was made that it was given between 10:30 - 11:30 A.M., rather than between 3:30 - 4:30 P.M. of the same day, as originally scheduled. Inasmuch as this individual was an invalid and bedridden, there was no question that he could be located. However, E.C.F. files have no record of EC’s reason for changing the time. This explanation is made not only for the value it may have in the field of clairvoyance, but for the purpose of recording all details pertaining to this case.]

7. The Nitrate of Silver would be one ounce of a two percent solution, with one ounce of grain alcohol and one ounce of distilled water to make three ounces of the solution to be used for each charge. The Gold Solution would be made in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold Sodium to one ounce of distilled water, and use three ounces for each charge.

8. Attach the Appliance each day for thirty minutes. The larger nickel plate, through which the Solution passes vibratorially (one day the Gold Solution, the next day the Silver Solution), would always be attached to the lacteal duct and umbilicus plexus, which on this body will be the width of four fingers from the naval center to the right and two fingers up from that point.

9. When using the Gold Solution, attach the small copper plate to the 9th dorsal.

10. The next day when using the Silver Solution, attach the small copper plate to the lumbar axis.

11. Do change these solutions every thirty days, also recharging the Appliance every thirty days.

12. Keep the attachment plates very clean. Do disconnect the attachments from the solutions when not in use. Take the connections out of the solution, and connect at least twenty minutes before they are to be applied for each treatment.

13. Each day after removing the Appliance, give the body a thorough massage with an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil, and a fourth quantity of Lanolin; or better still this combination:

Olive Oil…2 ounces, Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Lanolin (melted)…1/4 ounce.

This would be especially in the lumbar sacral areas and the brachial center, and following out to the finger tips; from the dorsal and lumbar areas following out to the toes; straightening the limbs as the oils gradually have their effect.

16. (Q) What can be done about my eye trouble - both eyes? (A) The general treatments indicated will be the more helpful for this.

17. (Q) For the infected toenails? (A) These applications suggested will be the more helpful, but as an ointment here we would use Carbolated Vaseline and then the Cuticura Ointment over same.

18. (Q) For pyorrhea? (A) The Ipsab use regularly, every other day, will relieve these disturbances.

B1. 10/7/43 Sister’s letter: “I read about your great power in helping people, and I pray that it will be through that power that God has given you, that my brother will walk again soon. He is 20 years old, and has been bedridden for 3 years with arthritis; has been in the hospital 3 times, and has also had many private doctors at home, but they all say the same things: there isn’t much they can do for him. His knees are badly deformed; as for the rest of his body, he has very little movement… After reading about you, I am pretty confident that you can help my brother. We are hoping and praying that you will consider his case…”

B2. 12/12/43 Sister’s letter: “I wrote you in regards to my brother’s illness. We bought and read your book ‘There Is A River’, and now more than ever, we feel that you can help us. My brother would like very much to write this letter himself, but he cannot do so because besides having arthritis, he has iritis. As I told you in my last letter, he has been ill for 3 years. We have had different doctors, and instead of getting better, he seems to be worse. The only movement he has is in his left arm. My mother is a widow, and my other brother and I work. No sacrifice that we could make would be too much to see my brother walk again. We hope and pray you will give a reading for my brother…”

B3. 2/10/44 Case history submitted by sister: “About 4 years ago, my right ankle swelled up on me. I saw a doctor later, and it felt all right, so I didn’t think about it any more. About a year before, I had iritis in the right eye, later in the left eye. About 1 1/2 years later I had had the trouble with by ankle, my right knee got swollen and red. In July 1940, I first entered the hospital; I was told I had rheumatic fever. The swelling and redness appeared in most of my joints - I always ran a fever. I was in the hospital for 3 months; I was sent home for complete bed-rest, always going back to the clinic. I kept this up for 7 months. At that time I was told I had arthritis. Again, I was in the hospital for 3 months, was sent home for a little over a year; during this time my knees became deformed. I went back to the hospital, and the doctors said they couldn’t do anything for my deformities as long as I had the infection in my body. I was there 8 weeks. During those 8 weeks I lost a lot of weight. Since then I have had many doctors and been put on several diets. I grew pretty weak, and continued to lose weight. The infection seemed to be spreading instead of going away. Again my eye trouble has come back. This time worse than ever. I am unable to help myself; only movement I have left is in my left arm. I forgot to mention, I have pyorrhea and have infected toe-nails. I am 21 years old.
