-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5076]. As we find, there are disturbances. These are of rather an unusual nature and such as to cause a great deal of distress to the body.
-
These, as we find, have to do with the control of those coordinations between sympathetic and cerebrospinal nerve energies and their effect upon circulation, especially as related to lungs, the heart and the liver.
-
These, as we find, are in those areas of the brachial center, where there are the superficial nerve forces which should work with same. Thus with the activity or any excitement from over-energizing in any way, the blood stops, as it were, in the organs and there comes weakness to limbs, arms especially, and even head and stomach. Nausea may follow same.
-
These, as we find, come from a pressure in the form of lesion. We find that there should be administrations with the short-wave electrical treatments followed by an osteopathic adjustment or massage, as to equalize and bring better coordination.
-
These, if they are adhered to, may make better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How often should these treatments be given? (A) Should be given at least twice each week until eight or ten have been given and then they may be reduced to once a week until twenty-five or thirty have been given.
-
(Q) Am I, in any way, contributing to my illness? (A) Only in allowing self to become over-exercised about it.
-
(Q) What foods should be stressed and what foods avoided in the diet? (A) Leave off those that tend to make too much acid in body.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/17/44 Letter: “I received my reading for which I am grateful & felt that it is correct as far as all the symptoms I have. I have decided to keep as quiet as possible, & wait until I arrive at home in …, N.J., which will be June 5… As soon as I have made arrangements with the osteopath for whom I have been highly recommended, I shall let you know immediately. Thanking you again…”
R2. 7/7/44 Dr. Vane B. Sigler’s letter [D.O., M.D.]: “Mrs. [5076] is under my professional care. She is receiving osteopathic treatments & will receive Short-Wave Diathermy. Any further suggestions or instruction will be appreciated.”
R3. 7/10/44 Letter: “I have commenced treatments with Dr. Sigler [D.O.] of …, and think so far that I have improved in health generally, but was informed that the electrical short wave treatments were not advisable for me, but I do feel that I should follow out the instructions to the letter. Dr. Sigler informed me that he had written to you, but so far has not informed me of your comments. I am anxious to hear your opinion and should you be of the same mind as I, it probably will be necessary to take the treatments elsewhere, as I am of the opinion that he does not possess the necessary equipment. As I understand, that it does not have to do with heat, as Dr. Sigler explained that it did. With my best wishes…”
R4. 7/14/44 EC’s reply to [5076]: “I am of the opinion that the type of electrical treatment as suggested would be the proper type for you, while there are other types that would not be good for you. If you will follow the suggestions made, I believe you will get real help…”
R5. 5/5/50 Friend’s reply to Questionnaire: “Mrs. [5076] followed the instructions given her from the reading, but she passed away on 11/11/48.”
Background
Background
B1. 11/29/43 Letter: “I have become acquainted with the book of your life as written by Mr. Sugrue, and am, therefore, writing you this letter of appeal. I have been ill for some time, and have not been able to contact any doctor who seems to know just what the real condition is, and therefore the remedies have not improved my condition, which is growing steadily worse. I hope that you will find it possible to extend to me the privilege of the services you have given so many. If there are any regulations, forms or information which you require, I would most gladly cooperate with you. I am in urgent need of help, and anything which you may undertake to do for me will be more than appreciated…”
B2. 1/17/44 Letter: ”…I have been ill, as written you before for some time past, and though I have had the services of several physicians, I have not improved; in fact I am losing ground so rapidly now, that I realize something must be done if I am to recover. I have read the book telling the story of Mr. Cayce’s life, and am convinced that he is able to render me an invaluable service; my pastor, the Very Rev. […] [Rev. Frederic M. Adams], Dean of the Trinity Protestant Cathedral of …, N.J., placed this book in my hands through another friend and he endorses my application for this aid. I have read this book carefully and accepted as truth all the statements made therein… I am very ill now, (this letter is being typed by a friend); in fact I cannot take care of my family or myself, and desire above all things to ascertain the cause of my illness and to do anything which may assist in my recovery…”
B3. 1/28/44 Letter: “The following is a brief outline of my case history… I have been diagnosed as having the disease known as purpura hemorrhagic which has been growing steadily worse for the last 3 years now, and is now very bad, as I am never free from the effects of an attack or am having an active attack. I also suffer from a pain and soreness and heaviness in the upper part of my chest, and sometimes extending down through the arms. This condition becomes worse with any exertion such as walking, or going from a warm temperature into a colder one, and especially if I bend over. Thus, you see that I am very ill, and not at all able to attend to my household duties or the care of my family. I have had treatments from various physicians and have been in the hospital twice for observation and treatment, but up to now, very little improvement has resulted. Therefore, I know that if I am to get well, I must start improving before very long. Can you tell me the cause of my illness, as I am particularly interested in that? If I am in any way contributing to my illness, what can I do to assist in my recovery? Should I avoid certain foods?”
B4. 4/26/44 Letter: “I have a reading for May 10, at 10:30 A.M., which was to have been at …, N.J., but owing to my ill health I have been brought to …, Fla., and shall be at …”
