GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. As we find, there are a complication of disturbances, but the basis is the lack of proper coordination in the eliminating channels of the body.
-
If there will be the use of the hydrotherapy (mild sweats given preferably as Fume Baths with witchhazel), then the thorough rubdown after the Pine Oil Bubble Bath, then the light, the ultra-violet light, then the rubdown again, this will clarify, purify those disturbances.
-
For those disturbances which are produced by the condition in the organs of the pelvis, or leucorrhea, caused by congestion through the uterus from cold, we would use at least every other week the douches with Glyco-Thymoline (two tablespoons to the quart and a half of water). This should be retained for a time, while taking it, then expel, but do have this body temperature, not hot nor cold, but body temperature.
-
These would be kept until at least eighteen or twenty treatments are given. Begin twice a week. After taking about six or eight, then once each week. We will reduce those tendencies towards arthritis reactions and the general conditions of lack of proper digestive forces or assimilation and distribution of that assimilated.
-
We would give these treatments at Reilly’s. Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any special exercise or diet? (A) You will have plenty of exercise given you, but walking is the best exercise for the body, in the open air, in the sunshine.
The diets should consist of more raw foods, and have them prepared oft with gelatin. As watercress, chard, mustard greens, carrots, celery, lettuce, all of these are well, but are better prepared with gelatin.
-
(Q) Is there any focal point of infection that might give me the stiffness and twinges of pain I sometimes feel? (A) General lack of eliminations. Hence the respiratory system, perspiratory system, liver and kidneys are the focal centers.
-
(Q) Is my hearing slightly impaired? (A) This will be materially aided. It is not so much impaired as it is lack of coordination between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system. The body concentrates so thoroughly that it doesn’t hear.
-
(Q) Is there any reason for the lesson I have had to go through in connection with my friend, Adriel? (A) We don’t find Adriel as connected with the disturbances we have here. These come from other disturbances. We haven’t those in the present.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/15/44 Letter: “I received my reading Saturday A.M., and I can’t get over how amazingly accurate and yet so understandingly everything is expressed, and how easy for the layman to understand your diagnosis. I called Dr. Reilly this morning, talked over your reading with him this noon, and am scheduled to start my series of treatments tomorrow evening after work. I know I am going to be greatly benefitted by them and by the other suggestions you have made in regard to diet, etc. I never told you what made me wonder if I were threatened with arthritis, because I didn’t want you to think I was being morbidly influenced by something which had happened to me. About a year and a half ago, I tripped on a piece of mended pavement, and as a result of the simple fall, I got bursitis and a calcium deposit was discovered in my shoulder when it was disturbed by the fall. My shoulder was operated on and the calcium deposit dug out, and my arm is now better than it was before the tumble. However, I thought this was all a blessing in disguise, as it took care of a condition which might cause me a lot of trouble when I’d get older. At the same time, I began to wonder if the stiffness I have felt for some time might be a forerunner of arthritis - hence my asking for a reading… So you can appreciate what your reading means to me… I think your gift is wonderful, and I think you are a most extraordinary person because of the way you give yourself for all mankind… I shall never forget what you have done for me, and of course, I shall keep you informed of my progress…”
R2. 5/22/44 Letter: “I know the treatments you recommended at Dr. Reilly’s are going to do me the world of good. I have had 2 thus far, and I feel so improved…and I have so very much more pep than I have had. I even have my brother planning to go to Dr. Reilly’s. The friend of mine who lent me the book ‘There Is A River’ wants to go to Dr. Reilly’s… I am selling my sister on getting a few treatments… You don’t know how happy it makes me to know my complaint can be rectified so easily by these treatments. It is a great comfort to know that I am not threatened with arthritis. That means so much. It is most astounding how you could give me my reading right in my office. I kept myself nailed to my chair from about 2:45 the afternoon of the 9th and was most fortunate in not being called by anybody, which might necessitate my moving about. I printed my name in big letters on an envelope on my desk so you could spot it quickly when you were looking for me. I think your ability to give readings under such circumstances and at such distances, is most amazing, simply amazing. I know you are interested in knowing how Dr. Reilly took care of me financially. He gave me a special rate… I know I am going to be so much improved by my treatments, and I am deeply appreciative…”
R3. 10/16/44 Letter: ”…I have wanted too, to tell you about my progress. I have had 17 treatments up at Dr. Reilly’s and am much benefitted, and I know that the benefits will increase as time goes on, and that I shall feel better and better. I certainly am indebted to you, Mr. Cayce, for the help you have given me, and I shall never forget it…”
R4. 11/28/44 Letter: “I am enclosing 25 cents for the physical case study on arthritis. Some time ago, I secured the one on ‘The Common Cold’, and I want to tell you it has helped me immensely. I have been taking a tablespoon of Milk of Magnesia about twice a week, and I think it is great because I have been subject to a lot of colds, and so far, I am much benefitted. My sincere thanks for the help I have received from this case study…”
R5. 6/14/48 Various publications ordered.
R6. 3/6/50 Comment by E.C.F. Solicitor, Miss W. E. N.: “Visited Miss [5077] at her home; very pleasant. Said her reading has been of great benefit to her…”
R7. 3/21/50 Questionnaire sent to Dr. Reilly.
R8. 3/21/50 Questionnaire sent to Miss [5077].
R9. 4/21/50 Reply to questionnaire: “I first must apologize for this late reply to your inquiry. I am glad to report that the treatments I received at Reilly’s were most beneficial. They helped me right from the start. My first series consisted of 20 treatments. I felt a definite well-being, which is so important. Each year since, I have subscribed to a group of 10 treatments which I have taken as I thought I needed them. I think they have been very beneficial and I would recommend them to anyone - whether they thought they needed them or not. One gets a sense of the joy of living when everything is right.
Regarding the other condition, I didn’t use the Glyco-Thymoline every 10 days as I was advised to. I didn’t do anything when the condition seemed to subside. However, about a year ago, I learned of a wonderful woman doctor, and after a few of her treatments, I was fine. I feel it was a privilege to have this reading by Mr. Cayce, and I hope these notes to bring you up to date will prove helpful. I always remember Mr. Cayce in my prayers. I think he performed a very important job in his lifetime, and I know he must be happy in heaven because of all the good he performed. With many thanks for your interest, Sincerely…”
R10. 10/15/40 Dr. Reilly’s reply to questionnaire: “Miss [5077] came to me for treatments at various times from 1944 through 1948.”
R11. 10/27/50 Test mailing postal card returned: checked interest in lectures, group activity and sample publications.
Background
Background
B1. 8/12/43 Letter: “I have just finished reading ‘There Is A River’, and found it so intensely interesting I was sorry to say good-bye to the many people in it who became my friends in the course of my reading. I should like to have a Physical Reading. I have a condition (a very slight stiffness in my joints when I sit too long), which may be the forerunner of something more serious, and if by your guidance in diet and intelligent care - knowing what things to do and what to shun - I can avoid future trouble, I shall be deeply appreciative. Also, any suggestions in connection with my general health that you may care to make, so that I may maintain excellent health at all times, will mean much to me… Please put me on your mailing list, so that I won’t lose track of your wonderful work…”
B2. 8/19/43 Letter: ”…I shall deem it a privilege to wait until the afternoon of May 9, in order to avail myself of your reading. I know I do need help, and I want to do everything I can to ward off any future possibilities of trouble. And I know too, I shall be much benefited by the advice given. Time flies so quickly. May will be here before we know it…”
B3. 8/26/43 Letter: ”…I shall be in my office… Although Room 2400 is a large place, housing my whole office associates, I am sure you will be able to find me because I will be waiting (or my spirit) for you, and since I will be mentally attuned to this great privilege, I think you will locate me all right…”
B4. 11/10/43 Letter: “My sister and I attended your talk last night at Steinway Hall, and I can’t begin to express how much it meant to us and how deep it went. We could listen to you talk about religion all day. Your definition of Universal Love is so simply put - and yet covers everything… My sister and I were deeply touched by the religious note throughout your talk, and we wouldn’t have missed it for the world. It certainly was worth waiting for - even the second ‘sitting’… I would certainly love to have a Life Reading, but since I need the Physical Reading so much, I will have to put off the Life Reading for the present… Last night’s lecture doesn’t seem to be our first meeting… I am a devout Catholic, and I wouldn’t miss Mass for anything, or willfully omit any part of the things expected of us, and yet in your approach to the love of God for all of us, which you put so simply and sweetly - I was more deeply touched than I have ever been… May God bless you always…”
B5. 4/27/44 Letter: ”…At last the great day is approaching. I am enclosing a list of my questions; the number of them embarrasses me, truly - but I may never have this opportunity again, and I do want to do the right things so as to maintain good health. Please forgive me if I am out of order asking the last question. The last name of the man is […]. I didn’t put the whole name in my question because of obvious reasons. I would like to find out the answer to this riddle. I can’t seem to get him out of my consciousness, in spite of my trying to break the whole thing up 3 years ago. I have accepted the licking I have had to take in this regard as God’s will. He is a very wonderful person, and I will always ask God to shower His blessings on him. I wonder if I hurt him in another life? I trust the partial outline I have drawn of my office will be of some help… (1) Am I threatened with arthritis? (2) If so, what steps should I take in its regard to ward it off? (3) In connection with my general health, is there anything I can do to help myself maintain very good health for many years to come? (4) Why does the light case of leucorrhea [leukorrhea] I have, persist over the years? (5) What can I do to get completely rid of it? [The additional questions submitted at end of 5077-1.]
