D. Schellenberger.

GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have those anxieties of the body [5080].
-
These, as we find are upsetting to the body from the natural tendencies and constitution of the body, yet if there were more precautions taken in the diets and in the preparation of the foods, and the use of those that are of the laxative nature, much of this disturbance might be eliminated.
-
These are the effects of the lack of the relaxing of the muscular forces through the alimentary canal, and lack of sufficient flow of the gastric juices through the activity of the pancreas and the gall duct.
-
These changes in the diet, as in using more of the combinations such as pie plant, prunes, figs and raw vegetables, would be beneficial.
-
But we would first begin with corrections osteopathically (and go to Dr. Smith) in relaxing the nerves and muscles through those areas of the upper dorsal which will extend all the way to especially the lower lumbars.
-
Also we would begin (even before we commence with the osteopathic adjustments) to take for five days, every morning, before any meal is taken, one teaspoonful of Eno Salts.
-
After five days leave off and commence with the osteopathic treatments and these should be of the nature to stimulate better eliminations and to align more and more the segments along the spine.
-
Then change in the matter of the diet and walk more.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What foods would be best for improvement of my teeth? (A) We would not so much change the foods in this respect but would use Ipsab as a massage for the teeth and gums. Of course foods which combine better laxatives for the body, as well as the activities indicated, should make for better conditions with teeth.
-
(Q) How would it affect my health if I should have a child? (A) This depends upon the attitude of the entity or individual, or yourself, as preparations would be made for that, and through the period of gestation. This should, if the attitude for it is of the nature as to that which has been given from the divine sources as to what motherhood should mean to every individual. Mother, the name itself, implies that as the dearest, the most self-sacrificing of any in the earth.

We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/29/44 Letter: “I looked forward to hearing the report of the reading with intense interest and faith, but must say that I was very much disappointed in it. I have done most of the things you told me to do. I have eaten figs and prunes in large amounts. I have taken just about everything in the food line that is recommended for constipation, and I have eaten most of my vegetables raw. I have walked a great deal. In fact I have engaged in quite a bit of exercise such as swimming, badminton, tennis, horseback riding, gymnastics, etc. And as for taking one teaspoonful of Eno Salts a day, it seems impossible that that amount of anything could do me any good whatsoever; in view of the fact that I have been taking 13 or 14 times the minimum dose of anything I’ve tried until recently, when 8 or 9 times the amount seems to be sufficient. It seems that my trouble is of a cancerous nature in the colon, and nothing I eat or do makes any difference. On the contrary, I have steadily gotten worse (with the exception of a short time last summer when I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks), until I went on a complete fast a short time ago. Then, for the first time in several years, my system reacted normally until I started eating again. I suppose I started eating too soon. However, since I said I would do as you suggested, I shall endeavor to carry out your instructions, but only in conjunction with the fast and grape diet in which I have a great deal of confidence. I am sorry, as I had looked upon you as the one person in the world who could help me in regaining my health. Yours for more success with your other readings.”
R2. 6/3/44 EC’s reply: “I have yours of the 29th, and I am sorry to know that you are disappointed in your reading. I believe, however, if you will be just as consistent in the follow through of the suggestions and in considering that you haven’t tried or have had to use the double number of doses. Our experience is that if its taken properly, one-sixteenth of the dose is better than too much. If you are not pleased, return the data to us and let us return your money… I do hope you will give the information an honest try. With every good wish,” Sincerely

R4. 9/9/45 Letter: “I am returning the data on my reading that you suggested I return, if I wasn’t satisfied with the results. I am very sorry to say that the results were not favorable. I followed the directions faithfully and had the utmost faith in the reading. After an unsuccessful attempt to work it out in …, Md., I came to …, Calif. to seek the answer to my devastating problem. I know I should have written long ago, but have been so very busy working at a sanitorium where I was a patient also, trying to get well at the same time [Test mailing. Whereabout unknown.]. So, if there is any chance of getting my money refunded, I would greatly appreciate it. Was so sorry to hear of Mr. Cayce’s death. I am sure he did an untold amount of good.”

Background
B1. Born in Ind. 2/20/04.
B2. 8/12/43 Letter: “I have just recently learned about you and your wonderful work through my doctor, Dr. S. C. H. [Shellenberger, H. D., D.O.] It is indeed good to know that God in His mercy, has given us here on earth someone to help us beyond that which can be done by those who have acquired their knowledge in the usual way. I will be ever so grateful if you would give me a reading at your earliest convenience, and tell me the cause of my trouble. For several years, I have been troubled with constipation. It has steadily gotten worse, and until recently it was so that I had to take 6 or 7 times the minimum adult dose of a laxative; enemas were ineffectual. I find that milk and molasses enemas do some good, but the results are very inadequate. I have been taking osteopathic treatments since the middle of June. It was my doctor who suggested my writing to you. There is another thing I would like to know, if it wouldn’t be asking too much: Can you tell me where my husband is, and how it would affect my health if he should return to me and I should have a child? I am enclosing check…”
B3. 8/22/43 Letter: ”…I would like a reading on the morning of the 10th of next May. Of course, if you should have an open period before that, I should like very much to have the reading at that time. Now, it would be a little difficult to say where I would be at the time you have stated. I am at Dr. S. C. H.’s office 10:30 to 11:30 A.M., on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Sunday I am at home from 10:30 to 10:45; and on my way to church from 10:45 to 11 o’clock, and in church from 11:00 to 11:30. On the other days, my location varies…”
B4. 8/23/43 Letter: ”…Would it be possible to secure a reading earlier than May 10 of next year if I should go to you? I am most anxious to have this condition from which I am suffering, cleared up as soon as possible…”
B5. 2/26/44 Letter: ”…I am a graduate nurse… I should like very much to have a Life Reading, but I know you are booked up for a long time in advance. But, possibly, I won’t need the Physical Reading that is scheduled for May 10, and I might be able to have a Life Reading at that time… I have changed my address…”
B6. 5/6/44 Letter: “You asked me to let you know where I expected to be… I have been anxiously awaiting this day, and I shall do my very best to carry out any suggestion you may give me. Nothing will be too much trouble. I shall be very happy, not to mention relieved, to have this condition corrected. (1) Can you tell me if there is anything that can be done to straighten my spine? (2) Also what foods would be best for the improvement of my teeth. I was hoping to have my trouble corrected so that I might have a Life reading instead of a Physical Reading, but have been unable to do so as yet…”
