Protestant) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by self, Mrs. [5082], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Dr. E. Braunlin and the article in Coronet.

Born July 3, 1888, in Adams County, Indiana. Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ohio.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Adams County, must be some town close by, near Geneva. New cycle, not bad!

3. [5082], July 3rd. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called [5082], nee [5082].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records here, there are a great deal of activities of the entity in the earth plane, as well as urges latent from the consciousnesses in those realms of other dimensions than the earth. We would magnify the virtues, we would minimize the faults, but in interpreting the records here, we find from a composite view of the entity’s urges latent and manifest, these are apparent in the characteristics of the entity.

5. One very independent and will succeed in whatever it undertakes. Given just half a chance the entity will make it work, but don’t be so independent as to forget that others also have their virtues, as well as thyself. You are not the only one who thinks. While others may not be as deep a thinker, yet be as kind and as gentle with others as ye would like for others to be to you. For as is indicated in the law that changes not, the manner in which ye treat thy fellowman, ye are treating thy Maker. Thus each individual soul-entity meets its ownself and must give an account for the deeds done in the body and in the body-mind. For that ye thinketh in thy heart, so are ye.

6. The entity in its activities should have been or should be associated with those who are in public places, as those associated with the theater. The entity itself could have made an actress that anyone might have been proud of. The activities in the present will depend upon the use of urges as may be indicated from the activities of the entity in the sojourns in the earth.

7. As to the activities which are latent and manifest from astrological sojourns or those periods of sojourns in consciousnesses when not in the three-dimensional or the material consciousness as in the earth, we find Jupiter as the ruling force. This entity is independent as indicated, yet even given to good works, always taking the part (though at times apparently very dictatorially) of the underdog or the underprivileged, or those lacking in something in the physical or the mental attributes of the physical or mental body. Thus, as the entity sets itself in the position of giving orders, be sure they are in keeping with the divine influences which are thy privilege to use. For he who puts himself on the Lord’s side may conquer, may exceed, may excel others who apparently are materially much better qualified for such activities.

8. Then let thy yeas be yea and thy nays be nay, but in the Lord.

9. In Neptune we find also that consciousness of one well adapted in the unusual or the mysteries or the mysticism. These again are of the soul and are of the spiritual nature. Then let everything the entity does be done with all good conscience, but this doesn’t mean having necessarily thine own way. For as has been indicated, others think as well as self, and there are at times ways that seemeth right and yet the end thereof may become death.

10. Thus the needs that this entity, as well as every entity (but this entity in its activities especially), be acquainted with, and walk oft in the way of life as manifest in the Christ.

11. As to the experiences in the earth, these, too, are part of that universal consciousness or, as has been indicated, considering both the spiritual (or the emotional of the soul), and the emotional of the body-consciousness. While all appearances may not be given, these will indicate the pattern which, as has been indicated, would be given the entity; and the more oft the pattern is analyzed and the parallel of self’s desires and hopes measured with the Master, the better and the greater harmony will be the experiences of this entity.

12. How many of the promises do you know? Not merely sayings but as personal promises? Do make thy promises, though in keeping with those promises He made. And the chief of these is, “If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments, and I promise that I will come and walk with thee day by day.” This is a promise He keeps with those who keep and who love His ways. For His ways are not grievous, though they oft require the bearing of the Cross, but it is the only way to harmony and peace in the earth and, to be sure, the only way in the inter-between and the hereafter.

13. Before that the entity was in the land of the present nativity during those periods when there was the settling and the building up of the land.

14. The entity was among those who were new settlers in the area called “along the Wabash Valley.” Thus to the entity we find that nature, growing of wheat, blooming flowers, corn silking, cows lowing are those peaceful, happy influences indicating contentment, the fulfilling of the law of plenty. Not that the entity doesn’t see more than just the material expression, but a fulfilling of those promises, as through that experience the entity, as Rebecca Wahl, found help in ministering to the young of the neighborhood; not merely as a teacher, but as an instructor in those activities through the trying periods of the young of that day.

15. Hence the interest the entity has in young and those who are lacking, in mind or body, of the things for being as on par, as it were, with others.

16. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as or called the Grecian and Roman land, when there were those presentations from the Grecian land of the activities in higher places in the Roman land, as to the variations in the character of entertainment when individual rulers left off the battling together of man and beast, when man and woman became as actors in those experiences, and the emotions were expressed in regard to conditions that formed characters in the life.

17. Thus those abilities that might have been today expressed in what is called the stage, the drama or the like. These have had special interest for the entity, yet in the experience in the present these may be turned more to the drama of life. For in the realities, the dramas of those things wherein those who have been in such a state as to be subject to the law, and those karmic influences which bring to bear those burdens of illness, mentally or physically may the entity so contribute to those individuals in measures and ways beyond compare; not so much as the nurse, but as the companion, instructor, and director.

18. In those experiences the entity was known as Elane.

19. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Holy Land, and among those who were of the children or the daughters of Judah, during those periods when there were the establishings in the city where the great temple was built.

20. The entity was then acquainted with David and Solomon, as a contributor both to the decorations in the Palace of Bathsheba and in the house of the King in Solomon’s period.

21. In the name then Rahalab, the entity gained through those activities because of the counsel, not merely in regard to the preparations in finery.

22. Thus the entity is at home with the lowly, as well as those in authority or in higher places. Use, don’t abuse, those dependencies which arise from the associations in those periods.

23. Before that the entity was in the land now known as the Egyptian land and among those who were purified in the Temple of Sacrifice and prepared in the service of the home builders in the Temple Beautiful, in the name then Exan-or.

24. As to the abilities of the entity, then, in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:

25. How? By first knowing self and self’s relationship to the Creative Forces of God. Then by applying self in such measures, in meting out to others that counsel, that help, that aid which may make those individuals to (if not by reasoning, by the very impelling force of kindness, gentleness, patience, brotherly love) become aware of same in their own experiences.

R1. 5/23/44 Letter: ”…This picture is of my home in the woods. Any part of the year is beautiful. The trees are so many and close together that in the winter when everything is covered with ice, it is like a fairyland; then when there is a heavy snow, it is a Winter Wonderland; I say it is like a prayer. Then when the full moon skims over the tree tops, and peeks thru the branches, you’ll have to supply the adjectives - all I can say at those times is ‘gee’. The woman you see in the corner of the picture is Mrs. F. R. E. She came to me 8 years ago as a patient from the State Hospital; had been classed as incurable; for years now, she has been my ‘right hand man’. This was going to be a note…when I get to the report on my READING, it will be a book. I am still reading it over and over, and also to anyone who will listen to it. My children said, ‘even if you were the Rahab in the bible, you were smart, and underneath good, so we are still proud of you’ - that schoolteacher part is astounding, how many times have I been asked if I were one…”

R2. 5/6/45 Letter: ”…On May 10, it will be one year since Mr. Cayce gave me a Life Reading, a reading I shall never forget

• an understanding of why things were as they were. As yet, I have not sent in my thought about it - I write, then I rewrite it, then stop. I can’t, it seems, put on paper the whole great thought and truth of it…” [Renewed active membership.]

R3. 1/21/46 Letter: ”…I am filled up and running over with ‘doddlesockers’ - 18 of them - all mental cases. Got to bed Thursday nite at 6:30 Friday morning. That statement sounds silly, but it’s true… P.S. A ‘doodlesocker’ is an artist in any work, but mostly music - look it up… Please keep me on active list…”

R4. 3/17/46 Mrs. F. U. L.’s letter to HLC: “But wasn’t the old lady [Mrs. [5082]] (who said she was once ‘that old whore on the walls of Jericho’) worth the price of admission? A.R.E. meeting in Ohio] My Irish sense of humor impelled me to say to my friend standing beside me, ‘I don’t doubt it a minute - and she hasn’t changed a bit!’ I noticed, too, your deep humor at her conversation. The next time I see you, let me give you a take-off of her telling of her 3 marriages. You didn’t hear that!”

R5. 12/14/46 Letter to GD: ”…The reason I do not go to the meetings at …, is because they are working in numbers, and Mrs. [623] is forever bringing up stuff she learned at some other class or some spirit stuff - any new ism that hits Dayton - she has been in the class. I haven’t gone to classes, but read and studied till I was going round in circles from Plato down - then Mr. Cayce. He was enough. Maybe I am wrong, but as I see it, all we need is his simple faith and the Lord’s prayer, then we have peace. Twenty-five years of mental cases and help and relatives! Gee! No thank you. I want peace, not Mrs. [623] and her chatter… I often think of… I am smiling now about my talk with her in the depot. She wanted to do something so badly, not for pay, just to be doing. I told her to get in touch with a hospital

• they would keep her busy. There, I was ‘dictating’ again, and how. Thanks, and love…”

R6. 6/19/48 Letter: “Thank you for not throwing me out. This check is for the renewal of my active membership ‘till October 1948. Use any balance for anything you wish. God will bless all of you.”

After years of studying the philosophies, spiritualism, Christian Science, and always going back to my bible, yet with the teachings that had been taught me, I knew there was something missing, something that had been left out; then I studied numerology and astrology; they too led me straight back to my bible; then, thru a mistaken purchase of a magazine by my son-in-law, I find you and the very thing that had been left out of all the other religions; […] and I find on inquiries at the depot that getting a reservation on the train for Virginia Beach is very uncertain at this time; too, I have in my care 14 mental cases, and the uncertainty of competent help during my absence will make it very difficult, but if you can give me an appointment, I shall come; if not, the enclosed $25. will show my good faith… I want to do right, want to live right, but find myself sadly lost… Am I doing the right work?”

B3. 10/23/43 Letter: ”…Of course, I realize at 55 and nearer 56, it may seem silly to want to change one’s occupation, and if Mr. Cayce sees that it must continue, I shall do so gracefully, but there are days on end that I get very tired of it. My patients (14) are all mental cases, and I realize they too must have care, but years and years with no vacation, makes one wonder if they are right, and we are wrong… If it is at all possible I want to come when Mr. Cayce reads for me…”

B4. 11/4/43 Letter: ”…May 10, 1944, seems so long to wait. Then as I began to think of the question I would have the privilege of asking, my mind became a blank; I will need the time, perhaps it is because I have been asking myself so many questions for so many years and finding no answers, that of them all, I do not know which ones to ask. I shall pray that the right ones will come, and they will…”

B5. 1/29/44 Letter: ”…At present I have 15 mental cases to care for, and one woman to help me, besides the help I can get from the patients; as making their own beds and dressing themselves. I do want to be an active member… Enclosed is application for my daughter’s [4074]‘s reading…”
