This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [5084], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, as we find, conditions are such that to change from those administrations which are being made in the present would be to the disadvantage of the body.

3. As to whether these will supply the energies in the system, as we find, depends upon whether there is the general distribution of that change in the assimilations produced in the body to those areas where the disturbances arise.

4. Hence, we would give rather that there be consistency as well as persistency in the supplying of those activities which are at present being administered. These should bring bettered conditions for the body.

6. (Q) What is the underlying cause of my illness? (A) The lack of proper distribution of the chemical energies of the body forces.

7. (Q) Would a change of climate be beneficial to my health? (A) Not necessarily in the present. For these, as we find, would interfere with the character of administrations being made. We would be consistent and persistent with those things being given.

R1. 5/15/44 Letter: “I have just received a copy of the reading you gave me on May 11, for which I thank you very much. You give as the underlying cause for my illness, lack of proper distribution of the chemical energies of the body force. I would like to know if anything can be done for such a condition. Perhaps you have advised someone in a former reading on how such a condition can be improved.

In your monthly Bulletin, I have read that you have on file different remedies that you have given to others, and by means of which you have cured them of tuberculosis conditions such as mine. I would appreciate it very much if it were possible for you to give me copies of such suggestions which might be helpful, and perhaps help speed up my recovery. I understand this is not part of the reading, but I would appreciate it greatly if you can send me some of your findings on the subject of tuberculosis…”

R2. 5/22/44 IMG’s reply: “Since your reading advised you to keep up with the administrations being made, we would be much better qualified to advise you, if you could write us in detail just what these administrations are. We will then attempt to extract any information that would be considered general enough to aid you. Do write us regarding this.”

R3. 5/26/44 Letter: “Thank you for your letter of May 22. Yes, the fact is, my reading advised me to continue with the administrations being made. These consist of a small cast which fits over the affected area of the lung on which I have to lie. The purpose of this cast is to put the lung at rest. The reading does say, however, that the underlying cause for my illness, is a lack of proper distribution of chemical energies of the body forces. Nothing is being done to remedy this, and perhaps if something could be suggested to help the body for proper distribution of these energies, there would be better healing power and more rapid progress. I understand that, you have had much experience with tubercular lung conditions, and probably have many valuable suggestions in your files. Is there any diet suggestion, or anything else which might improve healing power? One thing I do, is take liver injections to increase the number of red blood cells. Otherwise, my cure is only rest. If you find any suggestions that might be useful among your other readings, I would appreciate them very much.”

R4. 5/30/44 EC’s reply: “Yes, we have had quite a number of individuals seeking information, who were sufferers from tuberculosis. I would suggest that you have a Brandy Keg prepared, something like the enclosed description. Of many hundreds of cases that we have had with tuberculosis, this is one general treatment given, and it has proved to be helpful in every instance where it has been suggested. I believe that this will be one of the things that will help a lot.

Try it, and you know that if there is anything we can do to help, we are glad to try and do it. With every good wish…”

(2) GD’s note: “In conjunction with the inhaling of the fumes from Apple Brandy in the Charred Oak Keg, the readings invariably suggest the taking of Acigest and Calcios. Acigest is hydrochloric acid in a form easily assimilated and taken a teaspoonful in a glass of raw milk at the evening meal. Calcios is free calcium easily assimilated; spread thinly on a whole-wheat cracker and eat at noon meal. Perhaps in the beginning, it would be best to take both of these properties just 3 times each week, but on alternate days. They may be secured … N.Y.”]

R5. 6/8/44 Letter: “Thank you very much for the instructions…to improve my condition. You were kind enough to give me the information regarding Acigest and Calcios. I ordered these immediately. I also got the Pure Apple Brandy. I have looked throughout the city for a charred oak keg and as yet, have been unable to secure it. Would another Wood keg be unsatisfactory? If so, perhaps you could advise me where I might get an oak keg or even borrow one temporarily. This is the one thing I lack to carry out your instructions, so I hope you will be able to help me in that matter also…”

R6. 7/1/44 Letter: ”…I got the Brandy and put it in a charred oak keg and used it for a week. After that short time of trying this treatment, I suffered a severe hemorrhage, followed by 2 others. I wonder whether this could have been caused by the inhaling of the brandy and have stopped it temporarily? Would you mind giving me your opinion on this matter and advise me whether I should go on with the treatment? Thank you so much…”

R7. 7/8/44 GD’s letter: “When Mr. Cayce wrote you yesterday, he was not aware of the fact that your reading did not specifically recommend the Brandy Keg Fumes for you. Therefore, we suggest that you be very careful inhaling the Fumes next time. Begin very slowly and do not breathe very deeply in the beginning. Gradually increase the inhalations and the frequency; at first, only a whiff or 2 about twice a day. It may be that you inhaled too deeply and too much at one time, not allowing sufficient time for your system to adjust itself to the change. If it is convenient, please get with one of these men in New York who have had experience in following Mr. Cayce’s readings, or else have a physician to advise you, since the reading did not really suggest the Brandy Fumes for you. Dr. Coulter, osteopath, Dr. Reilly, physiotherapist, Dr. Taylor, medical doctor, or consult your own physician, and if he thinks it unwise to use the Brandy fumes, by all means discontinue them. In all cases of TB where treatments have been outlined in the readings, the inhaling of the Brandy Fumes has been a part of the treatment which has proved most beneficial, but you may be the exception - especially since the reading did not outline this treatment, I’d be very careful.”

R8. 3/20/50 Questionnaire sent. No reply.

R9. 8/7/52 In April 1950 a second class test mailing was returned to ARE with the following notation: “Miss [5084] left for Europe for a long time.” No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 7/1/44.

R10. Note: “It is interesting to note that Miss [5084] did not mention she had tuberculosis until AFTER the reading. In her letter of 5/15/44, she requested specific information on her condition. That letter was not answered by EC because of his crowded schedule at that time. Therefore, I replied to it, signing his name. Miss [5084]‘s reply to my letter reached EC; it was dated 5/26/44.

Could it be that EC suggested the Charred Oak Keg to Miss [5084] in his reply of 5/30/44, without examining either her reading or her previous correspondence, because in a majority of TB cases the Keg was used? This error would not have occurred under normal circumstances when EC gave only 2 readings a day.” -IMG.

B2. 9/14/43 Letter: “I’ve heard a lot of your readings and prescriptions of cures for trouble such as mine. This month’s article about you in ‘Coronet’ and the many comments on it in various newspapers, prompted me to seek a reading also. I have no idea what your fee is, so if you will be kind enough to let me know, I will be glad to send it to you. My name is [5084]. My condition preys on my mind greatly, and I am convinced that since you have helped other people in my predicament, you will be able to do something for me too. Please let me know of the price, and arrange a reading for me soon…”

B3. 11/17/43 Letter: ”…As I told you in the last letter, I know you have helped people with trouble such as mine, and I hope you will be able to advise me too. I was surprised not to receive a reply on my first letter. Perhaps this time you will not be so busy, and will give me a reading soon…”

B4. 12/7/43 Letter: “I received your information concerning Mr. Cayce and his work, and I am very eager for his help in my case… I would like a Physical Reading from Mr. Cayce. It is a case of emergency, and every day is of utmost importance, consequently I would appreciate the reading at the earliest possible date. I hope you will inform me of the date of the reading, and also let me know of the complete diagnosis and prescription which Mr. Cayce will give…”

B5. 12/16/43 Letter: ”…I realize that you did your best in granting me the first open period. If it were not really such an emergency I would not have insisted on the earliest possible date. I am ill and am waiting anxiously for that reading, so that I may know how to go about curing myself. It is a long time before May 11, and if there might accidentally be another opening for a free period, I would appreciate it very much if you could keep my case in mind…”

B6. 4/18/44 Letter: “I am scheduled for a reading on May 11 about my physical condition. In your letter you mentioned that I should send you the specific questions I want answered. They are as follows: (1) The diagnosis of my illness? (2) What is the underlying cause for it? (3) Is my present form of treatment satisfactory? (4) Does it help me any? (5) What are your suggestions for the cure of my particular case? (6) Medical treatments? (7) Change of climate? In your bulletins I have read some of the readings, and it is difficult for me to understand some of the suggestions given; therefore, I want to call your attention to it, to the person who will be recording the answers in your reading, write me specifically what I am to do. I am asking this favor, so that I shall be able to do everything you advise without any confusion in my mind in the full understanding of the reading. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration, and I am hoping you will be able to help me to new physical well-being, as you have helped many others. I shall be at my home address on the day of the reading.”
