GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. We have the body here, [5087].
-
As we find, there are disturbing conditions. These as we find, arise from the after effects of the operation in the rectal area, that causes the nerves about the end of the spine to draw on the activities in the limbs and the abdominal area. These also produce reflexly those disturbances in the upper portion of the nerves which are caught or taut because of their closing in the folds when stitches were made in the areas.
-
If there would be used the hot water treatments applied through the use of the Elliott machine, we find that we may eradicate or eliminate the sources of the disturbance, as well as the cysts which are formed from the conditions there.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What should I do to relieve the pain when I sit down, and also sometimes after I lie down? (A) Do the treatments.
-
(Q) Any special doctor to whom I should go for these treatments? (A) One who will apply the Elliott machine.
-
We are through with this reading.
Two copies for self (one for Dr. I. Daniel Shorell, 8 East 64th Street, New York, New York - If he does not apply the Elliott Machine now, he may be able to refer you to someone who will.) Copy to Ass’n file ” for indexing

R1. 5/26/52 Comment by IMG: “Yesterday I talked with Mrs. [2785]‘s daughter who said: ‘I have not been in touch with Mrs. [5087] for some time; however, as far as I know, she did not follow the suggestions outlined in the reading.’
“When I spoke with Mrs. [2785]‘s daughter in March 1950, (on the telephone) she gave me the name and address of Mrs. Ada N. Rank, in N.Y., saying that I might write her concerning Mrs. [5087]‘s address.
“Today, as a result of this suggestion, I sent a questionnaire-letter to Mrs. [5087], care of Mrs. Rank of N.Y.”
R2. 8/4/52 No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 5/26/52.
Background
Background
B1. Born 1/4/86 in Ohio; widow; no children; occupation not indicated.
B2. 5/10/43 Letter: “I have read the book ‘There Is A River’, and am deeply impressed and am writing to ask how I can get your help for my sister, Mrs. [5088] who has been mentally ill, following a gall bladder operation…”
B3. 8/17/43 Letter: “Several weeks ago, after reading ‘There Is A River’, I wrote to Mr. Cayce regarding my sister, Mrs. [5088]… Since then I have talked with Mrs. [2785]‘s daughter of Virginia Beach, and she has advised me to put both my sister’s and my own application on file immediately. I explained my sister’s condition to Mr. Cayce, but I made no mention of my own at the time, as I felt my own was not serious enough to take his valuable time. But I am so discouraged after 10 months of pain, that I believe now he is the only person who can help me. In that period of time I have been examined and treated by 2 doctors, 2 osteopaths and a rectum specialist, and have had little relief. Last October I had an attack of hemorrhoids which were finally cured in about 3 months of treatment. But I still am in pain nearly all the time, except when I am walking, and especially so when I sit for more than 10 or 15 minutes. I have had x-rays which the doctors assure me show neither a dislocation nor a growth, and the specialist says I have a perfectly normal rectum now and no infection of any kind. The x-ray doctor said the pictures showed a slight calcium deposit, but he didn’t think it sufficient to cause pain… I can assure you of my sincere cooperation and belief, and will set aside the time for quiet and meditation when you notify me of the time for my reading… My sister is in need of help much more than I, and I would prefer that she have the first available time.”
B4. 1/26/44 Letter: “Last August the 17, I wrote you about my sister’s illness; also about my own condition, and you were good enough to make appointments for us. In your letter you said it might be possible to give either my sister or myself an earlier reading, and have been hoping to hear from you, as I am still greatly distressed about my sister… I am writing you again to ask if you will please consider her case if you have any cancellations. Although I am still in pain a lot of the time myself, I will gladly wait until May if something can be done sooner for sister… Hoping to hear from you soon…”
B5. 5/10/44 Letter: ”…There are very few questions I have to ask, except to know what treatments I should take, and what I should do to relieve the pain that I have immediately when I sit down, and also for some time after I lie down. Since writing you about my back and rectal condition, I have been having an ear condition that does not respond to treatment, although I have been going to an ear specialist since late in January. I would also appreciate help for that condition. I expect to remain in my home in quiet meditation at the appointed hour, and will try in every way to be helpful, as I believe very sincerely in the work you are doing, and believe your power to help is as you say it is. My niece is expecting a baby between the 15th and 20th. Should I have to take her to the hospital at that time, I couldn’t be at home, but even should that happen, I will be with you in my thoughts… As I haven’t a regular physician in New York, I would like very much to go to some doctor or doctors who are familiar with your work and are sympathetic with it. Trusting that I will be worthy of your help…”
B6. 5/12/44 GD’s Dayletter collect: “Wire exact address where sister and you will be for appointments. Also specific questions, if any, for each reading.”
B7. 5/13/44 Dayletter reply: “Will be at my home …, N.Y., Monday 3:30 - 4:30 EWT. Same time Tuesday will be with my sister …, Conn. Questions: (1) Cause of illness? (2) Treatment desirable for each of us?”
