GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: This is a new cycle. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called, [5103].
-
In giving an interpretation of the records here of this entity, there are many things, conditions, to be considered. When there is the analyzing of the interims or of other consciousnesses than that of the three-dimensional, and the periods of sojourn in the earth, these indicate, as a pattern, these characteristics:
-
The entity has to watch itself very closely that it doesn’t tell tales, and this oft gets the entity into trouble. Remember, silence is golden and remember, too, the seeds you sow you reap, as; telling tales about others, what you speak of others, others will speak of you. Don’t be, then, given to that.
-
Oh, yes, ye have chosen many times correctly in not telling of slander, in not telling of things that would be harmful, but these eliminate from thine experience and it will tend to open new vistas to thee. Never speak of a person except finding something good. If you can’t speak well of a person, don’t speak. To be sure it tends to close self, yet you will find that well. You’re a good talker. Yes that talking saying something nice, even if ye have to imagine it. For remember, there is so much good in the worst of people. For, remember, whoever they may be, whatever they may have done they are made in the image of thy God, or is it thy God? It depends upon what ye in the image of thy God, or is it thy God? It depends upon what ye entertain. If it is saying hard things, ye are not entertaining the God of creation, ye are entertaining the God of destruction. Say something nice of everyone.
-
Astrologically we find Saturn, Mars, Venus and Jupiter as parts of the experience and just about in the order as indicated. Changes can come about so easily for the entity. Oft just when you thing things are going nicely, something crops up. It’s something you have said somewhere, usually something you’ve done. For your chickens come home to roost, as does that which is much better stated “with what measure ye mete to others it is measured back to thee.” For as ye say of, or do to, others ye are doing to thy Maker. What manner of Maker is thy ideal?
-
In Mars we find the body is very active not lazy, and active in what would be constructive ways, if they are ever given to finding something good to say. Those who are good scrubwomen are much better than bad teachers or lecturers.
-
In Venus we find abilities for the entity to write. Write, practice in same, but especially those things pertaining to children. For the entity likes children. For you had plenty of them once! not all thine own, but these are part of thy consciousness. Children’s books, especially those stories and books which are for girls in that period of awakening to the creative forces as from within. Let them be about the outdoors or of trips through the imaginations of the self, through the mysteries of mind, through the actualities of travel.
-
Do the things in the writing that you have always wanted to do yourself. Visualize, and you will make it and can use it to the advantage and the help of others.
-
As to the appearances in the earth, these have been quite varied.
-
Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, or present birth, during the early stages of settlings from the Carolinas and Virginia, when portions of Kentucky and Tennessee were being settled.
-
The entity was among those who journeyed into these lands and thus, as has been indicated, drawing upon the imaginations and the things that have ever appealed to the outdoors, in the woods, among Indians, among various types of individuals who might struggle not only for a social life being built, but the material needs of the physical body also.
-
In the name then Martha Childress, the entity gained, and the entity taught school; not as a school prepared or sponsored by the state, but the type to teach the nature of itself and how children could apply themselves in better home building. These were the types of activity that have appealed and that do appeal to the entity. For social-mindedness is in the consciousness, but the entity is conscious as to who should belong in the group.
-
All are in one accord before thy Maker. Are you better than The Maker?
-
Before that the entity was in the Holy Land when there were those establishings of the care for the children of those who had viewed the Disciples and Apostles on the day of Pentecost.
-
The entity then was among those of Judah, Judah of the coasts of Thessalonica, who came to Jerusalem. Young in years, yet faithful in purpose and in aiding in the distribution to those who were in need, were the activities. Thus the entity learned the stories, the tales of many who were in those varied positions by the overzealousness as well as the sincerity of others. These made for the abilities of the entity to talk and sometimes talk too much.
-
Before that we find the entity was in the activities pertaining to those periods of the journeyings into the Promise land. The entity was among those women who are chosen to do the embroidering on the edges of the linen drapery which were hung inside the tabernacle, pomegrante and a bell, then pomegrante and a bell. These names, in themselves, arouse something within the entity. Hence we will find the entity a good embroiderer, yet, when it sets out to do it, and a designer on things of that nature. As supplies for household. These, too, the entity can teach and may teach. In the name then Elsael.
-
Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land among those peoples who came from the Atlantean land. The entity was among those Atlanteans first born in Egypt, but of the Atlanteans, and the entity knew better than most of the others by the training, and yet learned many things the hard way.
-
The entity was then given to the activities in organizing various groups, in the later portion applying self to writing. In the name them Eesmes.
-
As to the abilities of the entity, that to which it may attain and how: Applying self in most any of those activities which have been a part of the experience, these may be used as channels and outlets for the greater unfoldment for the entity, but do write stories for children. Do work with teen-age girls especially.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Could I earn my livelihood through giving my whole time to writing, or should I continue in present job? (A) Continue in present job until you begin to write and have sold at least three of thy stories or published one book. But do work with girls and write teen-age books.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to learn a new profession? (A) This would be rather new but in the application of self, ye will find an outlet for the better abilities of the entity. You will learn also to write that which is best to speak.
-
(Q) Why do I doubt my ability to break into anything new? (A) Just as has been indicated, when you find faults they reflect in self.
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 5/22/44 Letter: “Thank you very much for the transcript of my Life Reading, held on May 12, which reached me a week ago today. I have read it several times, and feel I must do so a great many more times before I can fully digest, understand and profit by it. I found it exceedingly interesting and it gave me a good deal to think about and strive for. The warning about talking too much is perhaps an admonition I needed. I do enjoy conversation, but had not appreciated the fact that I was a ‘teller of tales’. However, I am glad it was brought to my attention, and I shall try to curb myself in this respect. I cannot at this time, however, tie such a factor to any particular change that has come into my life, or to any adverse factors that have developed as a result of such action. On the other hand, a good many people have done some rather wonderful things for me, which, on the basis of ‘what measure ye mete’ might have been applicable. The part about my writing for ‘teen-age groups’ is one phase of writing I would have felt myself quite incapable of doing, as I have never been around children to any extent, nor felt that I understood or cared for them until they’re grown up. Neither have I felt I could teach anything. I shall most certainly give it thought, however, and shall be only too glad to write you should I find a way of working in this field, as I truly do want to write. Again, thank you. I am very glad I have had a Life Reading and only wish I could have done so a good many years ago.”
R2. 5/30/44 Letter: “Thank you for your letter of 5/23. It was helpful and encouraging. You may be sure I shall be more than happy to pass on to you any results I achieve through endeavoring to follow the suggestions you gave in your reading. It seems to me it would be very helpful to talk with someone who has had a reading and been able to interpret, or put it into practice, to some degree. Therefore, I shall greatly appreciate your giving me the name of the person you mention in your last paragraph, who has also had a reading.” A.R.E. files have no record of a reply to this letter. IMG.]
R3. 3/15/50 Questionnaire sent. No reply.
R4. 4/25/52 Questionnaire-letter sent. No reply.
R5. 5/1/52 Report requested through Mrs. [808].
R6. 5/7/52 Mrs. [808]‘s reply: “As you suggested, I called Miss [5103] and she was indeed surprised to hear from me, saying she hadn’t written to the Assn. for 10 years. I was surprised, too, as I though this contact with IMG was a very recent one. She said she had received several letters from Virginia Beach asking her whether the reading helped her or not, but she just ignored them, having lost interest, after all these years. However, we got to talking and I invited her to our Group Meeting Tuesday night. She did come last night, and after the meeting asked for my telephone number and wondered if I couldn’t meet her downtown sometime for lunch, and go over her reading with her. So maybe IMG had this request in the astral plane!”
R7. 7/17/52 No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 5/7/52.
Background
Background
B1. 7/31/43 Letter: “I have read with great interest the remarkable story of your life…in ‘There Is A River’, and it has made a very strong impression on me. The soul readings, in particular, interest me. I have heard from other sources something of this development, but know too little about it to be able to understand just what is done, experienced, or developed as a result of such a reading. Though no longer a young person, I feel it would benefit me greatly…”
B2. 8/14/43 Letter: ”…Would like also to inquire about a Physical Reading, as sort of a general check, although I am, I believe, in pretty good health. However the Life reading is the one I am most interested in, is I feel that I am so uncertain and unsure of myself. How I can make best use of my abilities, and how I can fit into some work which is the thing I really should be doing, is the thing on which I really want help…”
B3. 8/25/43 Letter: ”…Right now, I am concerned perhaps unduly, with a health problem, and would like to know if it would be possible to obtain such a reading for an additional amount of money… You must, of course, give first consideration to people who are desperately ill when they call upon you. This is not the case in this instance. I have, or think I have, pretty good health, but in checking with my doctor recently, a small lump (cyst or tumor) was discovered in my right breast…know surgery is very necessary in many cases; I have always been interested in it, wanted in fact, to become a surgeon myself, but due to my father having been more or less coerced into medicine by his father - also a doctor - without the love of it that I inherited, my father objected so strenuously to my studying medicine, that I did not do it…”
B4. 5/3/44 Letter: ”…I believe you have my application data regarding my birth, etc., but I repeat it below, together with a brief background, educational and business training. This may, or may not be either desired or necessary for a Life Reading. If it is not desired, please disregard it.
“Born: 9/24/99, 111 Bristol, … Tenn. Mother died 1905, father a physician, retired, has remarried and lives in N.Y. I am unmarried, an Episcopalian in religion. Am an only child by my father’s first marriage, and only grandchild on both sides of the family. Was raised by my maternal grandmother. Had a somewhat lonely childhood in a small southern town, where I was raised out of my generation, hence never got to know or feel at ease with girls and boys of my own age. Was never popular with men in a social sense, tho get on well with them in the business world. Had to build romances mostly in my own mind. I get on well with people generally, tho am not socially inclined and have been pretty self-sufficient with my interest in books, travel and music. I do not know much about young people, altho my young half-sisters and half-brother, and various young people in my office associations seem to seek and accept counsel and advice from me.
“I have a high school and 2 years college education, in addition to considerable university study in literature, psychology, financial and economic, as well as journalism. Have read and traveled widely in this country and some in Europe.
“My work has consisted chiefly of stenographic, secretarial and administrative secretarial work, mostly in stock brokerage and investments, financial service. Am now in government war agency as an expediter, obtaining needed priorities for contractors of my agency which they require to obtain needed materials and equipment for research and development of implements of war. It is a duration job only, with no future that I can see developing out of such work. I do not wish to go back to doing secretarial work, except incidental to something along administrative lines, if I should continue in this field of work. However, I have nothing in view, nor sufficient contacts to know what field of endeavor would bring me satisfaction, as well as financial security. I have failed apparently to find, or have a goal, hence do not know how to choose a field of work in which I would find congeniality and success. I fear financial insecurity in the future, and am uncertain of what I can, or should do, so as to maintain my independence and never be a burden to others. A most congenial position in the secretarial field, which I had believed would be of life time duration, was terminated by the untimely death of my employer, and 2 or 3 years later by his mother, with whom I had remained as assistant in handling her financial affairs.
“Questions: (1) What should have been my chosen profession? (2) Would it be possible, or desirable for me, at my present age to learn a new profession, or change to work entirely different from what I have been doing all my business life, i.e., secretarial? If so, in what field of endeavor would I be most likely to succeed? In government or private industry? I do not mean entirely in a financial way, but find happiness and satisfaction in doing it. (3) How can I overcome my negative approach and disbelief in myself which has of late years, caused me to doubt my ability to break into anything new, fear for financial security, and make me hesitate to give up my present work, (for which I have no special liking, and in which I know there is no future) unless I have another position in view? What causes this feeling of uncertainty and doubt? (4) Is my recent ‘pattern of failure’ to complete several ventures in courses of instruction I have undertaken - mostly home study - been due simply to lack of application, laziness or stick-to-it-iveness on my part, or have I attempted things for which I have no real aptitude? (5) I have been told by instructors that I have writing ability. If this be true, in what particular field should I attempt to write? Could I, by devoting my entire time to writing, earn my livelihood at it? (6) I have lived in Washington for over 20 years. I find myself reluctant to make a change; due to having accumulated a good many possessions, it would be a nuisance to either store or dispose of at this time; yet I no longer have many friends or interests here, and am restless. Would a change of location be desirable: if so, in what part of the country might I find work and happiness? (7) I have never know of young people intimately, but my own much younger half-sisters and brother, and young girls in my office acquaintanceships seem to like, trust and accept my counsel and advice. Would there be some phase of work wherein I could be of assistance to them, taking into consideration I am not a trained psychologist or personnel advisor, nor even a very socially minded person who enjoys being with large groups of people?
“I shall eagerly await a report on my reading, and shall be truly grateful for any suggestions and interpretations of these troublesome and troubling problems.”
