1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

3. Yes, we are given the records here of that entity now known as or called [5106]. In giving the interpretation of the records, these we choose from same with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful influence for the entity, enabling it to better fulfill the purposes for which it entered this present experience.

4. Know there is little or naught which happens by chance save accidents. These appear even in creation, but using the opportunities as are the experiences of each soul-entity, this entity should apply self, with the virtues which are parts of the experience in the present, so as to bring the greater help to the greater number of individual souls or entities.

5. For as is the purpose of the soul’s entering the earthly experiences, to meet self and to use and apply those meetings of self in its relationships to others in such measures that self is made selfless and the universal consciousness which is manifest in the light, the truth, the way; that is, the saving grace, saving principle in the experience of every soul that seeks its Maker.

6. As to urges which are latent and manifest, when a composite is taken of this entity’s experiences, we find these, as might be said, as characteristics:

7. There are the abilities in the entity to carry on in most any form of business relationships which may be undertaken by the entity in body, in mind, in purpose for good, provided it is kept ever with the thought of others and not of gratifying or satisfying of appetites or whims of self.

8. Yet there is ever the longing latent and manifest in self for the security of home, of family, of ties that make not so much for ease but the comfort of a place to rest and being set in definite activities.

9. As to faults: When the entity forms an ideal, this to the entity becomes law, and though there may be all forms of manifestation that would change, for the entity it becomes rather set so that to others the entity becomes hardheaded. This is not in conformity to the ease and comfort of a home, if and when such is dependent upon the activities of others. Learn, then, to give and take, to be tolerant. Know that whoever and whatever is - is by the grace of that influence we call God, and use then, not abuse, thy knowledge or thy privileges ever.

10. As to the appearances in the earth, while all are not given, these we find indicate the pattern, indicate that which may be part of the experience. But know that no urge is greater than that of the mental self. For nothing may separate this from the love of God, the Father, save thine own self. For, as ye treat others, ye are treating thy God.

11. As ye seek a home, it is well, and as we find, this should be a part of the experience of the entity.

13. Before this we find the entity was in the land during those periods when there were those disturbances as war between the states in this land.

14. The entity’s lover came to this land and when there were those periods of reconstruction, and when there were the privileges of others entering, the entity then, in the name of Emma Schwarngenburn, came to the land and became then Emma Kurtz.

15. The entity gained through the experience and in the latter portion of the experience in the sojourn returned to Germany.

16. Hence in the present when there are, in the course of time, those reconstructions in Germany, the entity may or may not enter again in this experience, but it should be the choice according to what are the principles of those activities in the reconstruction period, or as to whether the entity may conform to the principles and the regulations respecting sojourns in the present land. In either case do seek another companion, as a husband, though, and there will come into the experience of the entity, in either instance, if those suggestions are adhered to as to tolerance and as to making self less and less for gratifying and satisfying but as a unit of strength and purpose, the accomplishing of much for the home. This is the nearest representation of that to which each soul seeks to attain, to be one with the universal consciousness and yet aware of itself. This ye alone can attain, in making the ideal that as was manifested by Him, who is the way.

17. Before that we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity or birth, during those periods when there had been those turmoils with the Norse land.

18. The entity then was in the name Koeller and chose as a companion one in what is now the Northland, or Norway. Then the entity aided in bringing about harmony, bringing about peace among those groups who were at variance with the tenets of the entity’s own land. These activities brought some periods of anxiety, yet so long as they were as one for all and all for one, these kept as the basic principles, the entity found harmony and kept peace in those experiences, building a home with many children.

19. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were the preparations of those for environs, and as representatives in other lands. The entity was among those prepared in the Temple Beautiful for service or activities or teachings or ministering in what was called the Carpathian land. Here the entity builded homes, and again are those activities such that there is the latent urge for the comforts, the quietude, the peace that goes even with the word, “home”.

21. As to the abilities of the entity, then, that to which it may attain and how: The greater part depends upon self. For as has been indicated, the abilities are such that if there are those expressions and those attunings of self as to be not contentious, not fault-finding, but working together for the good of all, we may find the outlets for self and the harmonies as to bring good to all.

23. (Q) What type of work am I best suited to do? (A) Home building is the best type. Any business, any activity, anything that is of routine; as running a machine, even mechanical devices or weaving machines, but home is best.

24. (Q) Do you find it would be best for me to return to Germany? (A) As has been indicated. This depends upon what are the principles of the entity and its ability to conform to the ideals of that country it chooses.

25. (Q) Should I go on with my class in survivalism? (A) This must eventually be dismissed. For this is not the principle for that of universality. For each soul is as precious in the sight of God as another.

B1. 7/20/43 Letter: “I just finished reading the book ‘There Is A River’… It has made me very happy to read this book, and I only wished that my brother, who is a surgeon, would be able to do so also. What a marvelous gift God has given to you and in what a generous way you have made use of it. Others would have made a gold mine out of it - you refused to do so. May God bless you for this. I am a student of Spiritualism and believe in reincarnation. It would be extremely interesting to me to have a Life Reading, and I wonder if you would consider to give me one… I am not a curiosity seeker, but am really deeply interested in your phenomena. I am German born, 44 years of age, and a widow since almost 3 years. I was born in … Krumbach, Germany, one of twins; mother died right after, and took the other twin along. I came to this country in December 1923, with my husband, and on 9/40, my husband died of tuberculosis. Since then, I am left absolutely alone, as all my folks, what is left of them, live over in Germany. I am working in the … Air Chute plant here in …, but feel that I am absolutely not in the right place. I am not happy there. This is also the reason for wanting a Life Reading. Perhaps it would lead me in the right direction…”

B2. 7/25/43 Letter: ”…Will you allow me to send my best regards to Mrs. Cayce; although I do not know the lady, I feel that she must be a fine and wonderful companion of your life. I always had the greatest admiration for women who go along with their husbands all the way… May I tell you, although I am all alone here, I am seldom really lonely. I have my work; besides this, I keep house for myself. I like to read a good book and love good music. The little things in life can make me happy, like the song of a bird up in the tree outside of my place, the smile of a child passing by, or a flower swaying in the breeze. I have all my spirit family with me, and my God and Creator has given me health, what more can one ask?…”

B3. 9/19/43 Letter: ”…I would appreciate it greatly if you could let me know more definitely, what one really is allowed to ask. For instance, as I will have to make a place for myself in life, since my husband passed on, I would like to know just in what direction I should concentrate. One other very important factor for me is, will I stay in the United States or go back to Germany after the war and stay there. I also have been told a good many times, that I was going to get married again, and would like to know what to do about this. As I have told you I study the philosophy of Spiritualism and would like to know if I ever will be able to become a good medium, so as to be able to bring some happiness and joy into the hearts of the lonely ones. I know what it means to be lonely, and also know what a friendly greeting from my departed ones, through a good medium, means to me. Of course, I do not know, if I am allowed to ask questions like the ones I mentioned above, and would appreciate it deeply if you let me know about this…”

B4. 4/16/44 Letter: ”…I am determined to make a place for myself in life. As I did get married rather young, I had no business training, and since the passing of my husband, have to make my own living. I hope that perhaps you, through the reading, are able to lead me into the right direction. I will write a few questions. (1) Will I get married again, and if so, when? (2) Will this be a success? (3) Will I ever be happy again? (4) When will the war in Germany end? The place in which I work has reached the closing point, due to lag of a new order, which means that I have to look for a new job…” [Other questions answered at end of 5106-1.]
