This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by self, [5114], new Associate Member of the Association For Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in ”Coronet”.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Gussie W. Millaway, Stenos.]
Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. Wash., D.C.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes. As we find, disturbances here are such that unless there are those measures taken to remove the disturbance in colon, we will not be able to control the headaches nor will we be able to prevent those violent accumulations which may become very detrimental.
-
As we find, not too close together, but there should be taken very gently the colonic irrigations to cleanse the colon.
-
Have prepared the Fusion of Wild Ginseng, Wild Ginger and Essence of Lactated Pepsin into those compounds such as have been suggested for these disturbances. When these are prepared begin, after at least the second of the colonics, taking these properties; two-thirds teaspoonful morning and evening.
-
We would be very mindful that there are those massages by the neuropath to gently relax the body, and we will bring those means for greater help for these disturbances in the present.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How far apart should the colonics be given? (A) This depends entirely upon how much, without too great a pain, the areas of the colon can be cleansed at a time. These should be given regularly so long as there is an indication of mucous in the stools when these are taken.
-
(Q) What is causing the condition of the nerves? (A) The accumulations of poisons from the inflammation through the colon. It causes the violent headache also.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/14/50 Questionnaire sent to Dr. Lulu Irene Waters, D.O.
R2. 3/22/50 Dr. Waters’ reply to Physician’s Physical Reading Questionnaire:
“Mr. [5114] first came to me July 7, 1944. He is very deaf; very nervous, diarrhea continuously, hemorrhoids, pain in lumbar region, hernia, left groin, feet crippled badly from ill-fitting shoes; severe headaches - sinus origin; mental unhappiness as son was and is in a mental institute. He had bad broken shoulder and sacroiliac in accident. The treatment given was osteopathic. Trying to get the body in harmony, Mr. [5114] went to an M.D. for medical care and does at this time. Osteopathy has helped him very much although I have only treated him once a month. He is under the same nervous strain although he has accepted conditions and has mentally adjusted himself very well. When he gets a sudden diarrhea he resorts to the medicine the M.D. gives him. I will ask him when I see him if he ever did as Mr. Cayce advised.”
Results of treatment:
- At end of 1 year: “Much better.”
- At end of 2 years: “Gradual improvement.”
- At end of 3 years: “Gradual improvement.”
“Mr. [5114] keeps his position as a chief in his office; is much happier. His body is much improved.”
R3. 10/52 Dr. David H. Fogel, M.D.’s comment after studying 5114-1: “Colitis, Ulcerative.”

Background
B1. 8/5/43 [5114]‘s letter to EC: ”…I read an article in ‘Magazine Digest’ about your wonderful powers in diagnosing and prescribing for disease, and hope you can do something for my almost chronic headaches and nervousness. Must one visit you in person? I hope so, and shall appreciate anything you can do for me and am willing to pay anything within reason insofar as I am able. Awaiting your reply…”
B2. 8/25/43 [5114]‘s letter to EC:
”…You can’t imagine how disappointed I was upon hearing of the proposed date for my physical reading so far in the future. I dread the coming winter, with its overheated office work room, sinus trouble, recurring diarrhea, chronic headaches. (I have had to take as high as 5 doses of headache pills daily), sciatic trouble, nervousness, insomnia, which 4 doctors thus far have been unable to cure. They treat symptoms, but can’t discover the cause. With my responsibilities at the office, family worries and my health, I have at times thought of the easy way to end it all, but thus far, I have been able to dismiss such thoughts from my mind. I often wonder if it’s worth while. My children have disappointed me (my only son is a mental patient), and I am misunderstood on all sides. To top it off, last night I voided bloody urine. Nevertheless, I shall try to wait patiently…”
B3. 5/4/44 [5114]‘s letter: ”…I shall be at … Washington, D.C. during the hour mentioned for my reading… As to the questions, they pertain to the: (1) Nerves. (2) Persistent headaches. (3) Condition of colon…”
