GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5116].
-
As we find, there are disturbances. These have been of long standing. That there are not greater disturbances than exists is because the entity has held a very good attitude even through it all.
-
Yet, as we find, these conditions may be materially aided if there will be a consistent and persistent attitude, and consistency of activity.
-
It will require a long period for the corrections to be made in the segments along the spine, that are contributory measures to the disturbances. And because of such a long standing, it will be well to have these rather in a series. As we find, owing to the position of the stomach, it is very slow emptying. Thus, any food taken, that easily becomes rancid, causes a great deal of aggravation. Improper digestion keeps the body tending toward a lack of sufficient resistance. Because of the poor assimilation there are very poor eliminations.
-
We would have regular series of adjustments osteopathically, with special reference to the areas from the 6th dorsal to the 1st cervical, or those that would tend to make for the greater emptying at all times of the stomach. Not so severe, and that is why the long periods are not advisable, but short series, two week periods, having at least two or three adjustments during each week, and then about as long a rest period.
-
But throughout the periods of the adjustments and throughout the rest of the periods, do wear a support for the stomach. The best support may be made by hand, by just taking a piece of gauze or a piece of an old sheet and binding it well below the stomach as a support for the stomach.
-
Also have this as an aid for digestion: Following whatever is the heaviest meal taken each day, whether it be breakfast, noon or night, take at least 1 ounce of water in which you have put 5 drops of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin and 3 drops of Milk of Bismuth, see? Do this regularly each day.
-
Do have foods that are already, or near digested: as beef juice, broths, vegetable broths, liquid and semi-liquids.
-
Take very seldom those of raw vegetables, but watercress whenever possible or practical to take some of this. Also those which are used as garnishings for meat, rather than those that are often eaten, but these as peppermint or those that may be used just as watercress is often used. Not quantities, just sufficient that these react with the body.
-
Do have occasionally sinusoidal treatments. This should be about once during the period of the two weeks’ adjustments, or treatment. Rest about as long as from the osteopathic treatments, but have one sinusoidal each week, not too heavy, but make the application to the 4th and 5th dorsals and over the liver and gall duct areas with the other plate. Do not use this more than a minute or less, especially in the beginning.
-
Do have occasionally colonic irrigations.
-
Do use as a laxative that of senna tea. Get the senna pods and put three or four in a cup, then pour boiling water over same and let stand for thirty minutes to three-quarters of an hour, strain and drink: this may be cooled if preferable. This will tend to clear the trouble with kidneys and the burning sensation through the bladder, as well as the burning sensation through portions of the stomach.
-
When using the colonics, do use soda and salt with same, by using a heaping teaspoon full of salt and a level teaspoon full of soda to two quarts of water. Always have the enema near body temperature, not too hot, not too cold, never above body temperature, but almost to body temperature. Do use Glyco-Thymoline in the last water for purifying. This is well to be taken daily in a glass of water. Drink lots of water, but at least one glass of water through the day with 6 drops of Glyco-Thymoline in it.
-
Also occasionally prepare elm in the water. This should be at least two or three times a week. Place a pinch of ground elm in a glass of water, stir and let stand for an hour, then let it cool and drink.
-
Thus we will have better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would change of climate be helpful? (A) Not necessarily, but if there is the desire or feeling of same, it would be very well.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1948 Test mailing, 2nd class, returned marked “Deceased”.
R2. 3/21/50 Questionnaire sent to [5116]‘s daughter.
R3. 5/10/50 Daughter’s reply to questionnaire: “Chief complaint: much gas after eating, sluggish bowel movement, gradually coming about over a period of 15 years. Physician’s diagnosis and treatment: laxative pills and vitamin shots. She followed the reading closely and gained some relief. The senna tea as prescribed, was too strong for her and made her have pain. Maybe she didn’t do it right. I believe she drank it, and here it says as a colonic. I don’t know the details of the osteopathy treatments. I wanted to get in touch with Dr. P. I. E. [Dr. Josephine Pierce, D.O.] but my little boy… I’ll give you the details regarding her disease found later by surgery.
She went to a specialist March 1947, Dr. S. A. V. [Dr. C. E. Savage, M.D.], who does nothing but bowels and the lower part of the digestive tract. He sent her to Dr. T. H. O. [Dr. Lester Thomas, M.D.] in the same building for a series of X-rays, and they showed that there was a malignant growth in the large bowel in the descending colon, I believe. The doctor looked at these X-rays and then prescribed surgery. This was done on 4/21/47 by Dr. T. H. O., at the … Hospital. They removed this growth which had almost closed up the passage inside her intestine. It was also cancerous. If that was all that showed signs of cancer, we don’t know; the doctors didn’t tell us of it if there was. They left this incision open with the 2 ends out, saying that was the latest and best way in performing this operation. She came out of the ether fine, started feeling good, and they let her eat light food. On April 30, they did the 2nd minor operation by clamping the 2 ends somehow, so that they would start growing together. This seemed to cause much pain and anxiety in that they used a tall, large heavy scissor-like instrument for this, and it didn’t dare be touched by cover or anything because it would hurt so. On May 2, she ate a big supper; I remember her remarking what it was and how good it was, and the next day she started having severe pains in her abdomen. They kept getting worse, and no one seemed to know why or what to do for it. Saturday night, all night and then on Sunday morning, the doctor decided to dig the stool that was in the top opening out. This was extremely painful. She got out a lot of hard stool; after that she felt quite a little better. She had a fair night Sunday, but early Monday morning her heart went bad. She always had a good heart, but all this suffering and pain and anxiety just wore it out. She lived under an oxygen tent until 1 P.M. Monday May 5, 1947.
My sister and brother and I still feel that if the enemas that were given during these 12 days had been given properly, and gotten the necessary results, that she may have pulled through, but through the ignorance of the nurse and family physician regarding these enemas, and this serious operation, she had all this terrible suffering. The enemas were given in the upper part of this opening, and evidently the nurses weren’t getting nearly everything; this caused the accumulation of all this hard stool which caused all the pain and weakened her heart so fatally. It was just too serious an operation to be done in a small hometown hospital by attendants who never have taken care of anything similar.”
R4. 6/19/52 No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 5/10/50.
Background
Background
B1. Born 5/19/80 in Ohio; 3 children. Daughter, employed by A.R.E. for a short time in 1943.
B2. 1/12/44 Daughter’s letter: “I arrived safely in Ohio, and am now working here in my home town. My husband, according to his last letter, is in the Pacific some place. Since being home, I have told a number of people about you and your work, and many are interested. I would like very much to have something to show them. Therefore I am ordering one of your books, ‘There Is A River’… My mother was also very much impressed by what I told her concerning your work and the good you have done and are doing, and she would like very much to have a reading…”
B3. 2/7/44 Daughter’s letter: “I want to thank you for your prompt reply to my letter requesting a reading for my mother, and also to thank you for scheduling the reading for such an early date. My mother has filled in the blank as requested in your letter and has asked the questions [See below] she would like to have answered… Again thanking you for your kindness, not only in the above matter but also shown me while I was at Virginia Beach working for the Association…”
Mother’s case history enclosed in above letter; questions submitted, in addition to the one at end of 5116-1: ”…Doctors tell me I have a drop-stomach. I had to use a laxative almost all my life, which leaves the digestive tract very slow. At times, burning and feels like there was a lump in my stomach with lots of gas and bloated. I’m thin, have a low blood pressure and a ringing in my head and at times thumps. I have to be careful what I eat, not any kinds of fruit, no raw vegetable or sour fruit. For a laxative I used doctor’s medicine until it made me sick; then I changed to Milk of Magnesia, used it for good many years until I couldn’t stand that any more. Now I’m using Petrolagar, but it seems to be wearing off too, and something to help digest the food. Since I had my first child, I wasn’t the same like before, lost weight which I never could gain again. (1) What food would you advise me to eat that will agree and make me stronger? (2) Would you advise me to take osteopath or chiropractor treatments since I can’t stand much medicine? (3) Would you advise to change climate?”
B4. 3/31/44 Daughter’s letter: “We were very sorry to hear of your illness… In regard to the reading, my mother is willing to wait for another appointment, even though it will be several months from now…”
B5. 5/4/44 Letter: ”…As to the physical condition there is one I didn’t mention in the previous letter before. Nov. ‘42 I had an infection of the kidneys. The infection is gone, but I’m still bothered with a burning ever since. If I only could gain my weight back, I believe I would feel better and be much stronger…”
