GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: We have a view of the water [Oxford St., Berkeley, Cal.].
-
Yes, we have the body here. As we find, we have a complication or a complex disturbance here.
-
There are those tendencies in the body for the conditions in the nasal passages, or soft tissues of the face, to drip or drain, as it were, at times into the throat and stomach. This, from the excess of this infectious force, makes disturbances in the gastric flows in the stomach, and there is the lessening of the abilities of the body to prevent acidity, causing the body to be subject to colds that cause a great deal more aggravation to the body, and thus more drainage and thus upsetting the stomach with infection through same.
-
As we find, there would be the use here of an inhalant. This is not to be taken, this is not to be sprayed, but placed in a large mouth bottle where there may be prepared that which will act as a purifier for the irritation in the sinus or soft tissues, and nasal passages and throat. Prepare a large mouth bottle in which two vents are made, for these are to control the solutions. One is to be inhaled through into the nasal passages and throat, the other is to allow the air in, so as to not draw or inhale into a vacuum, thus only the gases that form by shaking these solutions together are inhaled.
-
Put the solution together in this form or in this order: In a 6 ounce bottle, put 4 ounces of pure grain alcohol, then add in the order named:
Oil of Eucalyptus…20 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…5 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…20 minims, Tolu in Solution…15 minims.
-
Keep these two vents corked, but once or twice or three times a day shake the solutions together; take the small corks out of the vents and inhale through each side of the nostrils, deep and long two or three times. Do this two or three times, once or twice or thrice every day.
-
Also have prepared or obtain Acigest. This to be taken three times each week, 1 teaspoon in a glass of raw milk. This preferably would be taken at the evening meal.
-
Do have also when these are begun, all of them, at least once a week an osteopathic manipulation that is to relax the body, especially as will drain the body, setting up better eliminations.
-
Do these and we will have better conditions through this body.
-
As to conditions of eyes, with the manipulations we will aid or strengthen the nerves and muscles to the eyes. The injury of same in the early periods of the body’s experience will not be corrected, but the general nerve strain produced, by the general strain in the body from the effect upon the organs of the sensory system, will be relieved; and we will find better conditions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the cause of the injury to the eyes? (A) Too strong a light when very young, in sun light.
-
(Q) Would moving to another climate be advisable? (A) If that is desired, but this information is given in consideration of the present climate. It isn’t bad, but the corrections given as indicated, we would have better conditions.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/5/44 Letter: “Thank you for the interesting reading…it has not been possible for me to reply sooner, as some difficulty has been encountered in following your instructions. Minor difficulty relative to restrictions on sale of grain alcohol were overcome, and I think the preparation was properly prepared, although there was lots of room in the 6 oz. bottle. O.P.A. regulations forbid sale of raw milk, but I was going to use the best grade that I could get. I have been unable to find anyone who can identify ‘Acigest’. The osteopath to whom I went used to be a practicing M.D., and he too was unable to tell me what it was. Can you please tell me more about Acigest, and I am very keen to follow the whole prescription. The name of the osteopath is […]. He is an open-minded man and read the reading with interest and caution. He did not say that it was true in all cases, but he has had experiences with ‘Readings’ which were not altogether satisfactory, and often had something to sell such as Acigest. We talked at considerable length, I had the September issue of ‘Coronet’ with me and this article he read with growing interest. I then gave him some book reviews of ‘There Is A River’ and told him that there is a well read copy in our local library (I had to put my name on the waiting list to get it). I think we have now got all factors working well with the exception of Acigest, and of course the raw milk. Many thanks…”
R2. 6/10/44 EC’s letter: ”…I am sure there must have been sent to you, with your reading, the address where you would be able to obtain Acigest… Yes, there should be plenty of space in the bottle for the inhalant, for, as you see, all you inhale is the gas, not the product itself…” [Note: “The reading sent to Mrs. [5126] did not include data for inhalant or give the address where Acigest could be obtained; apparently, this was an oversight on the part of Jeanette Fitch.” IMG]
R3. 1/28/48 Test mailing. Whereabouts unknown.
R4. 6/4/52 No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 6/5/44.

B1. Born 3/5/02 in England; married; no children.
B2. 11/15/43 Letter: “A persistent problem of health has me baffled. My usefulness to myself and to others is greatly impaired. You can help me, will you please do so?…”
B3. 12/7/43 Letter: “Regarding the kind of reading desired: although I think that the Physical Reading is what I most desire, I shall be well pleased with what you decide to do for me. Although it may be contrary to many teachings, I think that mental and spiritual faculties will be greatly helped by physical improvement. Your thinking and work is not new to me, in a broad sense, but I did know of your Association or its definite aims and accomplishments.”
B4. 5/2/44 Letter: ”…During the past months, I have often carried the thoughts suggested by you, and have read and enjoyed ‘There Is A River’. Although I shall ask a number of questions… I do feel that the ‘Power of Intelligent Truth’ can advise much from the one question: What is the basic and deep-seated cause of my impaired physical condition, and what can I do to attain health of body and mind? Some doctors say that my stomach is the root cause of all the trouble; the food falls too quickly through the stomach. Other doctors say that my eyes and sinus are the focal point of infection. The effects of the trouble are that I am often very tired; the stomach is often distressed. I get too many colds which bother my eyes for long periods after, and also make some pain and stiffness in my spine and joints. I was born with defective vision caused by some sort of nerve break - they say the eye proper is O.K. For years, my feet were a real hindrance to my work efforts, but for the past year they have been much improved. My wife thinks that low blood pressure is a major factor in the tired feeling and spots before eyes condition. If you care to arrange this letter as your knowledge and experience indicate to be best, I shall be pleased. If I must make specific questions, they are as follows: (1) My stomach is sick and has always been poor; what can I do about it? (2) My eyes have been troublesome all my life, and get tired easily; what can I do for them? (3) I often get colds which cause trouble in my eyes and make the top of my head want to fall off. Sometimes they cause stiffness in my spine and joints. Would moving to another climate help this condition? (4) Tell me, please, what can I do to get reserve strength to create poise and usefulness? Thank you all very much for the renewal of hope you have given to me. I have spent much time and money seeking that which I believe is close to me now.”
