This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - [5132], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in “Coronet”.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, J. Fitch, Stenos.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Calif.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. As we find, in sometimes back there were congestions through the area of the throat and that portion of the head which developed into a catarrhal condition.
-
From the general strain on a weakened system this catarrhal condition now has attacked the Eustachian tubes and thus makes a general pressure on the nerves of the sensory system.
-
These as we find may be materially aided. We do not find cures entirely, but they may be materially aided.
-
We would have those applications of the low Wet Cell Appliance for this body. Following each treatment give the body a massage, especially around the organs of the face; as ears, eyes, the nasal passages, as well as for those tendencies for incoordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems.
-
Do this persistently, making the connections of the Appliance for this body at the 9th dorsal with the smaller plate, the larger plate to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus; and this (the larger plate) should carry vibratorially the Chloride of Gold into the body, through the vibrations produced by the low Wet Cell Appliance; which on this body would be four fingers from the naval center to the right and two fingers up from that point.
-
Attach daily the Wet Cell Appliance that we may change the vibrations of the body and make a general strengthening in the body.
-
We would add to the body vital energies as may be retained by the body through the manipulations and through the administrations and suggestions up to the present activities. These will bring better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How long should the Appliance be left on at a time? (A) Twelve to fifteen minutes.
-
(Q) Should the massage be by an osteopath or a masseuse? (A) This as we find would preferably be following the shower, following the rubdown. It should be a masseuse. We would bring better conditions with this body from those of the areas of the 1st cervical to the end of the spine.
-
(Q) What should be done, if anything, for the small rupture? (A) We would build up a general resistance, not do anything else in the present.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/11/44 Letter: “Your reading of my case reached me safely and I have read it over carefully several times with much interest. As there are several things I do not clearly understand, I will get in touch with Dr. Miller as soon as possible, and have her explain. In regard to Wet Cell Appliance, I will send for that shortly after consultation with Dr. Miller, as I am more than glad and willing to do all I can to bring about as near a cure of my ailment as is possible. I will greatly appreciate even a small amount of relief… Thanking you for the very remarkable reading…”
R2. 8/5/44 Letter: ”…At present I am taking weekly treatments from Dr. Miller whom I like very much. She certainly knows her business, and I feel that she has done a whole lot for me in a general way. However, the head noises still persist, but I do not expect very much improvement for some time to come, as I have had them for many years and know they cannot be eliminated in so short a period, though I heartily wish they could be. It is my intention to order the Wet Cell Appliance in the near future, and do what I can for myself at home. I showed your letter to Dr. Miller, and she was much pleased to hear from you through me.”
R3. 9/24/44 Letter: “It is indeed good to hear from you. Yes, I realize that it takes time to get the body adjusted to new conditions, and so I am trying to be as patient as possible and doing all I can to help. Dr. Miller has done a whole lot for me in a general way but, so for, has not been able to eliminate the head noises in any degree. Sometimes, I feel that they are worse than ever, and occasionally feel very much depressed over my condition. Your prayers, I am sure, would be a great help, and I would sincerely appreciate being included in same.”
R4. 3/13/50 Questionnaire sent. No reply.
R5. 4/2/52 A.R.E. records do not indicate that Wet Cell Appliance was ordered. No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 9/22/44.

Background
B1. 9/26/43 Letter: ”…For many years I have been greatly afflicted with ear or head noises, and have spent a small fortune in trying to get relief, but so far without results. They nearly drive me crazy at times. I have also a very annoying hernia on the left side, which requires a truss that is most uncomfortable most of the time. Will you kindly prescribe for me…”
B2. 11/21/43 Letter: ”…At this time I would like to obtain a Physical Reading with particular attention paid to the ear troubles with which I have been afflicted for many, many years. I am especially anxious to get rid of head noises which nearly drive me distracted most of the time. Am also quite deaf. I would greatly appreciate it if you will consider my case an emergency…”
B3. 2/13/44 Letter: ”…I will be in the Clock Department of the … Industries, which is located at … Calif. I have been looking forward to this appointment with great interest and more or less patience, as the trouble with which I am afflicted makes me rather desperate at times, and I am most anxious to know what to do about it. I believe you can and will help me. I have that feeling. The questions I wish to ask is this: (1) What must be done in order to banish head noises and deafness, but most particularly the former? My only other ailment is a small rupture which most of the times does not bother me, at all. My general health is excellent…”
B4. 5/11/44 ”…I wish to inform you that I will be at my home … I am somewhat deaf, but if I can get rid of the noises I will not worry about anything else…”
