This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self through mother Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

Born April 6, 1924 in West Newton, Massachusetts Time of Reading Set bet. 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Mass.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here, [5133].

3. As we find, there are latent abilities which as yet have received very little attention by the entity in any of its applications, but if the entity will apply itself it may yet make practical application of its abilities. And in its return to studies since discharge, do take that branch in which the entity will use pen and ink to formulate drawings, which may be used even in serials. For the entity has an ingenious or creative ability in these directions, and with applications made in such directions the entity can, and may, make a material success, as well as find mental and spiritual development, if the entity will keep the mental and spiritual first and foremost in the entity’s application.

4. To be sure these may be at a variance, for there will be periods when, with the material success and the environs into which this may be drawn, it will meet problems with the opposite sex, and it is up to the entity to be so balanced in the spiritual ways as to be kept in the straight and narrow.

5. As to urges from the astrological aspects, we find Neptune, Venus and Uranus. These will bring the interest in the mysterious; interest in the beautiful; interest in those things that would have to do with marine life, or the sea.

6. The entity should spend a great deal of its time close to those areas where vines and vegetations come close to the sea. These will be the environs and the activities in which the entity will find the greater vibrations for abilities.

7. There are inclinations at times for the entity to just rest. This doesn’t indicate laziness, unless entity cultivates same; then it may grow to be a burden or stumbling stone in the experience of the entity, but when such periods are used to entertain creative ideas, these may bring periods of great help to the entity.

8. As to the appearances in the earth, these are quite far apart, quite varied in their aspects and yet these are given as a pattern indicating as to how and why the entity would do well with pencil or ink and brush.

9. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, among those early settlers in this land. Then in the name of one John Lerman the entity was active in the recording of various scenes by the use of pencil and brush, and by using much of raw material as a means to do the pencilling, and then “touching in” all various forms of animal life, as well as domestic life of individuals. Through its experience in doing this work the entity used the name then of Rachel Wynne. In the experience the entity gained.

10. Before that we find that the entity was in that now known as the Roman land. The entity, with those individuals who had come into the Roman land from the Grecian, began to practice the use of the body-beautiful in its designs, and then in those activities as a sculptor and an entertainer. These brought some fame to the entity, and then the entity withdrew of itself. Giovenee was the name then.

11. The entity in the experience before that, we find, was in the Egyptian land when there were those activities for the choice of vocational guidance. The entity passed through the services in the Temple Beautiful, thus became an exponent of the tenets and truths that were set down regarding the activities at home; and hence, as is experienced by the entity, those that are needed to be attended to first are thine own principles as to the sources and causes, and as to keeping self unspotted from the world. These are the means and manners, then to apply self.

13. (Q) Why do I feel so uncertain and depressed since my honorable discharge from the army? (A) This is so far apart from that which is a part of the

inner experience.

14. (Q) What was my past association with my mother, and what are the urges in the present? (A) In the experience before this, an acquaintance; in Egypt the same position as you occupy in the present.

15. (Q) Is there some such college you would suggest to get this training? (A) This can be had in many. Those that will give due respect (as you study it over) to the tenets and truths given here.

B2. 9/1/43 Mother’s letter: “The enlightening article in ‘Coronet’ must have been printed especially for people like me… I am just an ordinary middle-aged mother of 2 rather extraordinary children. My boy [5133] is 19, and has a very high IQ. After 7 months in the Army Signal Corps Reserves he was given a medical discharge because of a brain concussion and hay fever. He is now studying radio, but isn’t at all sure that is best for him, or what he should make his life work. He has always felt that he came into this life to serve humanity, but hasn’t yet discovered how he is to do it. My daughter is beautiful and talented…”

B3. 9/23/43 Mother’s letter: “Your letter received, and thank you for it. I feel that I do understand the nature of your work, for I have studied theosophy, occultism and mysticism for many years… My son is living now with his aunt in New York and working at the nearby air depot until we hear from you…”

B4. 1/10/44 Mother’s letter: “My son is now living at home, working nights in a laboratory and planning to start college again (after a year’s absence owing to enlisting in the army) the 20th of this month. Re seems so uncertain, so depressed and upset ever since his honorable discharge from the army, July ‘43, that I am making a personal sacrifice to send you this check to read for him, with special emphasis on vocational guidance. He is truly a very troubled soul, and it is grievous to see a young chap of 19 so unhappy, and with no self-confidence which is generally so abundant in youth. Please send this reading as soon as you can and help a very bewildered young man to find his proper place in the world. He was a brilliant mind and if it could be turned in the right direction, would be and could be worth something to humanity. Please be as specific as you can, for he needs definite help badly. He is losing weight from his mental turmoil in trying to find the right path to follow… P.S. The boy begged me to send you this request.”

B5. 2/6/44 Mother’s letter: ”…May 10 seems a long way off but I know how carefully you try to put the most important ones first. The young man is praying that your guidance will show him some pathway that will not lead him to a dead end which he has so often feared.”

B6. 2/25/44 Mother’s letter: ”…I do not understand why you have changed the date of my son’s reading… This young man needs help desperately and as soon as possible, so I do hope that the May 20 date still is the correct one. He is so bewildered and upset he would be ill, I am afraid, if I told him he would have to wait until October for your help. These discharged boys need help as soon as they can get it, and so please reassure me that the May 20th date has not been changed…”

B7. 5/20/44 On the basis of the mother’s correspondence, the following questions and those at the end of 5133-1 were formulated by IMG: (1) In what field of endeavor may I best fill a constructive life and serve my fellowman? (2) Should I plan to return to college after a year’s absence in the army?
