GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. She prays! We have the body here, [5136].
-
As we find, the great distress experienced in that area across the small of the back may become very serious, for there are pressures upon the nerve of the reproduction, or the Fallopian Tubes. These have been such through a congestion, as to bring about inflammation.
-
We would first apply this: Paint the area with two parts of Balm of Bengue (Bengay), a preparation which may cause inflammation to be disbursed, and one part of the Cocoa Butter. This is for the prevention of too great a strain on already inflamed tissue.
-
Then apply over this, when the body has been painted with this or it has been rubbed on thoroughly, and a gauze placed over same, or with one thin cotton cloth over same, apply heavy salt, heated. Make this into a pad so that it will remain in its proper position, quilt it in. Heat this in an oven and lay this over the back, and we will find we will bring real relief. After using this for at least three times each week for a couple of weeks, leave off and then begin to use over the same area Packs of Glyco-Thymoline. Use at least three or four thicknesses of cotton cloth well saturated with the Glyco. No heat is to be on this during those periods when it is used.
-
Do apply over the pubic centers a poultice of peach tree leaves made in the form of a stupe; that is, get green leaves and put them in hot water, and put between two clothes; not necessarily large cloths, for the areas is just that above or over the pubic center, the very low portion of the abdomen. This is to aid in eliminating the inflammation which will be relieved from the body through the activity of the kidneys and bladder. Do this every day for at least five days.
-
Then begin with osteopathic adjustments. Dr. Smith would be well. We will find that in a short while, in less than to weeks, with about four to six treatments in two weeks, the body will be able to return to work.
-
Do not attempt conception until all of these conditions have been corrected.
-
When we are through with the treatments osteopathically, do use the Wet Cell Appliance carrying gold into the body; the small plate to be attached at the 4th lumbar and the larger plate (passing through the solution) at the umbilical and lacteal duct centers, which on this body is four fingers from the navel center to the right and two fingers up from that point. The strength of the solution of gold to be 3 oz., or 1 grain to 1 oz., of distilled water, using 3 oz.
-
Thus we will bring better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable when body is well to attempt to have a child at my age? (A) You will have two or three if you wish before the age is passed.
-
(Q) Was the disease I had at the age of 5 years the cause of my trouble today? (A) It was an injury that caused the disease, and was, as has been indicated, the source of the trouble.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/17/44 Letter: ”…First I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for even tho I have been so long answering you, still I am most appreciative. You will note that I have moved to California to make it my home, nevertheless, I have carried out your instructions with the exception of the Dry Cell Appliance. My reason for not going to that expense, is as follows: Since my writing to you, I have had a swelling in my knees, also in the 3 first fingers of my right hand. After x-raying I was given the report that I have ‘Palindromic Rheumatism’. Also, due to the fact I have had violent vomiting spells, my stomach was x-rayed. This is the report: ‘There is a very marked spasm of the pylorus. There is some deformity of the duodenal cap when the duodenum finally does fill.’ The pain in my knees and hand, is identically the same as in the lower part of my back and it also swells and always has. I am writing this to you Mr. Cayce, about this condition. The doctors claim they have not as yet found a cure for ‘Palindromic Rheumatism’ for there are so few cases. I am sure it is some type of Rheumatism, due to the swelling of the joints. They claim there is a description of this condition in A.M.A. Oct. 2, 1942, issue. Case report by Dr. Mozer. Maybe you would be interested in reading same. Naturally I am getting heartsick, due to this late development, and hope and pray for some relief. If you possibly can help me, I will be most anxious…”
R2. 7/21/44 EC’s letter: “I have your of the 17th. The only suggestion I can make is that if we can possibly work in a check reading for you, perhaps we should do that. This would seem to be the proper thing to do. We are enclosing the blanks…”
R3. 3/9/50 Questionnaire sent. No reply.
R4. 4/1/52 No record of verbal or written contact on this case since 7/17/44.
Background
Background
B1. 2/18/44 Letter: “Several months ago, my mother wrote to me since she learned I have been so sick, and begged me to secure a book, ‘There Is A River’. Mother pleaded with me to read this book. I tried all over this town to find it, without success. Finally, a week ago, I walked into my doctor’s office and from the moment I entered, some strange force immediately focused my eyes to an object on the doctor’s desk and it was the book, ‘There Is A River’, which quickened the beat of my heart, and made me so extremely happy. At the moment I did not realize why but TODAY, I do. I have so much faith in you Mr. Cayce, and so does my dear mother, that I am sure IF YOU WILL, you can help me. I have only been married eleven months, and out of these 11 months, I have been sick 9 months. My darling husband is in the service of his country, which I need not tell you is only a meager living for us. To be truthful, I MUST work, to support myself, and I suffer so much with my back, it is simply impossible.
In the past 2 weeks, my husband was shipped overseas, and now I am left completely alone. When, my husband left here, he was heartbroken because he had to leave me in this condition, but he had no choice in the matter. Mr. Cayce, my own doctor, also my mother, who is also quite ill, have insisted that I write to you. My doctor realizes my situation and that I must in some way, get well so that I can work. Nobody seems to be able to help me, and I have become desperate. I will be perfectly frank with you, I have nothing only a small allottment which pays my board, but if you can only help me, when my husband returns, after this dreadful war, and I know he will, we will both be indebted to you and in some way, make it all up to you. Everything we had saved, went to almost every doctor here in Columbia, until the one who has been caring for me at present. He has helped be gratis, for he realizes my predicament - altho he has not been able to help my condition…”
B2. 3/12/44 Letter: ”…I am now being taken care of by friends who are stationed permanently on the post, here at Ft. Sill. Since my husband left for overseas duty, I had to be moved where I can have some care. Mr. Cayce, I can never put into words the amount of faith I have in your readings, and am actually living for the day when you can give me a reading, so that I can begin with the proper treatment, and be well again. I am suffering so much and nothing seems to help me. I want to return to work here in the Army Dental Clinic, and that would be the happiest day of my life if I could. I realize there are many ahead of me, and know ‘beggars cannot be choosers’, but I still am in hopes in someway, you can give me a reading soon…”
B3. 5/12/44 Letter: “I have received my copy of ‘Physical Readings’ booklet and have read and re-read it a number of times. It is so interesting and as you say, it will help me so much to understand my reading, more fully. Mr. Cayce, I am counting the days until my reading, KNOWING with all my heart, God will give you the power to find the basis of my illness and give the proper treatment for same. I want you to know I shall cooperate with you in every possible way, on May 19th - 3:30 to 4:30 P.M. You have performed miracles Mr. Cayce, and if you will help me, it will be the happiest day of my life, for then I can return to my work and plan for a future for the day my loving husband returns from overseas. As it is, I am no good to myself or anyone else. I am attaching a few questions Mr. Cayce also the address where I will be, on the date of my reading, and I will be looking forward to the results of my reading…” [in addition to those at the end of 5136-1] Questions: “(1) What can be causing this extreme pain the lower part of my back? At times has been so severe upon arising in the morning, I was forced back into bed. Have been suffering 10 months with it. (2) Can you see any definite reason as to why I have never become pregnant? No doctor has ever been able to tell me - why?”
