-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions as I ask them.
-
EC: That’s a right big hill.
-
Yes, we have the body here, [5140].
-
In giving the interpretations of the conditions as we find them with this physical body, much as to the results as may be obtained will depend upon the spiritual attitude that is taken by the body; not respecting the physical disturbance.
-
There will be required the analyzing of self first, as to what purpose, as to what use the body will give to those creative forces that may bring relief from the physical disturbance which exists.
-
Unless these are to be used in a greater service for the Master, of what use will the life be? The life has only been spared by natural sources. Will you change it from that which has been the experience, which brought about the necessity for the operative forces?
-
The results of this operation are the sources of the disturbance through the caecum, as well as the prostrate area. Lesions have formed and these cause a general pressure upon the organs, as well as the brush end of the cerebrospinal nervous system, giving and forming disturbances in the organs of the sensory system.
-
Have you listened to the voice of conscience as it has brought corrections to the self? These are parts of the cause of the creation of deposits along the Eustachian tube, which causes the great roaring in the head and ears; that is, in the anxiety the body feels at times through the general mental attitude towards conditions as well as towards people.
-
In making the applications for helpful forces, do the first things, first; and the vows and promises you make to thy own better self, you’d better keep, lest the last state be worse than the first!
-
Physically, we would make these applications alternately: One day make an application of the Castor Oil packs over the caecum and lower abdominal area. Let this extend close to the pubic center and across to the left side of the body. This should be made of at least three thicknesses of flannel very thoroughly saturated with Castor Oil, and then apply directly to the body. Then apply salt heat. Have a pad made with salt in same, quilted in, as to make the pad at least 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick of heavy salt. This place in the oven and then when it’s warm enough that it just can be handled, even with gloves, place over the Oil Pack. Let it remain until there is little or no heat left in the pad or Pack. Let this extend across the whole area of the lower abdomen.
-
When this is taken off, sponge off with a weak solution of soda water; then massage gently with Cocoa Butter so as to gradually break up the adhesions without injury even to soft tissues.
-
The next day apply Glyco-Thymoline Packs. These would be at least three or four thicknesses of cotton cloth. Do not heat these, but when they have become the temperature of the body, from the body heat, which will require about thirty to forty-five minutes if the pad is thoroughly soaked with the Glyco, then these may be removed from the body and sponge off again with the solution of soda water, and then apply the same in the massage with Cocoa Butter.
-
Do have osteopathic adjustments, especially in the lumbar and sacral areas. Also the 9th dorsal, through the brachial centers and throughout the cervical. This, to be sure, is at variance to most measures taken by an osteopathic manipulator, but work from the lower end upward, then from the 1st cervical down again. This should be not so much correcting spinal centers, save in the lumbar and sacral and up to the 9th dorsal, but massage those centers as indicated, particularly having a better coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous systems.
-
In the diet: take plenty of raw vegetables, often preparing same with gelatin.
-
Occasionally, once a week or such a matter, do have a shortwave electrical treatment. This will aid in breaking lesions and adhesions, as well as helping poisons created in the system to be stirred so that the osteopathic adjustments and the stimulations from better eliminations will purify the system.
-
Do that and we will bring better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are there other organic or functional disturbances that are in need of present attention? (A) Only as has been indicated, that sympathetically there are disturbances to the liver, kidneys and bladder, or organs of the body below the diaphragm. Do as has been indicated, would we gain better conditions.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/8/44 Letter: ”…I am attempting to follow your suggestions on the Packs and have also been to an osteopath for the treatments… Your analysis as to attitudes was well taken, re-emphasizing my own conclusions. As to the Eustachian tube, I assume you indicated removal of deposits therein. However, I did have a thorough examination of these tubes last year by a specialist who found no deposits. Probably it should be re-examined. Since these head noises are my apparent major cause of discomfort, I would like to take more specific approaches in that direction, which at present were casually touched on in the reading. If the other matters touched on have a more or less direct bearing on this head condition, it probably will be alleviated in time through continued following of your advice regarding it. I suppose since no specific treatment was suggested for the head and ears, that I should make no special effort in consulting with an ear specialist as yet. I will inform you as soon as I feel changes resulting from treatments outlined in the physical reading.”
R2. 6/15/44 EC’s letter: “I do hope that you will follow through very closely with the suggestions that were made for you. I feel very sure that you will get real results…”
R3. 1/28/48 Test mailing to last known home address. Whereabouts unknown.
R4. 3/27/52 Questionnaire-letter to last known business address. Whereabouts unknown.
R5. 8/19/52 No record of verbal or written contract on this case since 6/8/44.
Background
Background
B1. Born in Austria, 11/24/03; married; one child.
B2. 11/5/43 Letter: “I am a married man, 40 years of age, having an office clerical position with a local manufacturing concern. Some 3 years ago, I developed a ringing and buzzing of the ears, which I at first attributed to having been in a draft and having also been exposed to a chilly breeze the day before while escorting friends to the train depot, where I stood hatless for 1/2 hour. This ringing closely resembles escaping steam from a radiator or tea-kettle. The constant ringing the first few nights was so annoying that I could hardly sleep. The family doctor thought it was due to wax in the ear, but it was found that all passages were clear and that probably a head cold was the cause. So heat applications were resorted, but to no avail. Another doctor was consulted, and he experimented by injecting various vitamins and other solutions in the arm. These efforts, probably as a coincidence, seemed to periodically reduce the high pitch of ringing of both ears which was always with me. Although at times there was no change from prior conditions. He suggested a waiting period, as he couldn’t diagnose the true cause. In the meantime, I have since taken Vitamin B pills every day.
This spring and summer I desperately went under a 4 month’s treatment of high Vitamin B Complex injections in the arm twice a week. This proved too expensive in the first place for one in my limited circumstances; secondly, it had no effect in completely subduing the forever constant ringing in the ears. Now after a few months, it has become quite annoying again. It has made me so nervous in addition to my naturally nervous tendencies, that I sometimes have to sit up in bed to read until I’m too tired to sit up. This, however, cuts into my rest period. The ringing is so annoying at times, that I just toss about for over an hour, until sleep comes over me due to exhaustion. In the daytime my office work distracts from this ringing, but many times it becomes so intense that it bothers my concentration. However, my hearing has not been very impaired; but I’m afraid it will drive me mad should it continue very long, as it is annoying and disconcerting to have the ringing continue in my head without a moment’s stop. I don’t know what to do, as the doctors have been of no particular aid in stopping this unusual condition. Because of a friend who heard of you, I am writing to you in desperation to see if you could be of aid in helping me solve this very disturbing condition…”
B3. 1/9/44 Letter: “About 11/5/43, I sent Mr. Cayce an appeal for possible advice about the ringing condition in my ear… Since then I tried to review my case, and began to wonder if by chance a nervous condition could have been a contributory cause. Some 9 years ago, I started working for a large oil company, after a brief and disillusioned practice in the law.
My beginning salary was quite small but which I accepted based on hopes and a promising future, which my interviewer outlined… I found my small salary insufficient to keep myself and wife…consequently my wife sought odd office positions to tide us over. Naturally, it brought along some mental agitation, as my wife urged me to hold on to see if my employer would soon recognize the situation. I worked hard, but evidently I was lost in the great shuffle… Having a sense of justice, my mental agitation gradually affected my physical condition. Digestive disturbances followed, then appendectomy and nervousness interspersed with search for medical aid. And I still have abdominal disturbances around the ureter and caecum, probably an aftermath of my appendectomy. The baby came 5 years ago, and later my wife again resumed work until quite recently when her health failed…doctor’s bills and medicine bills accumulated for all of us. This naturally reflected in the exactness of my office work. I tried to explain it away to my department head to see if he could obtain sufficient salary adjustments. Evidently big business has cold outlook concerning employees’ welfare, so I just stuck it out the hard way at my wife’s suggestion… I finally resorted to philosophy and psychology to keep my mental agitation from overpowering my sense of balance.
In addition, I tried to interweave religious precepts with these in order to formulate some life incentive. After some struggle, this has improved my mental outlook considerably, but the past has left its earmarks on both our lives… One of the many doctors I’ve had, mentioned a possible calcium formation in the inner ear, but that it was difficult to prove without elaborate surgery. So, I don’t know just what to do about it any more. The ringing is terribly disconcerting at times, especially at nights when quiet reigns. I thought I’d mention all this to see if it would give a broader perspective which might be of some aid in an analysis…”
B4. 2/44 Questions submitted in addition to those at end of 5140-1: “(1) What are the conditions to be guarded against to prevent the recurrence of these ear noises when they cease as a result of prescribed treatments? (2) How can I overcome irritations of ureter and caecum which may be partly ascribable to adhesions resulting from appendectomy some six years ago?”
B5. 3/21/44 Card: “I am very sorry to hear of your illness and pray that you will shortly regain your former self through help of the Supreme Guidance. Patience, they say, is a virtue. Since I can stand more of the latter, I can only say that I am willing to wait for another appointment at your convenience.”
B6. 4/7/44 Letter: ”…Regarding your reading for me…please don’t overdo… Please accept my Easter greetings to you and yours…”
B7. 4/25/44 Letter: ”…The place will specifically be in the company’s old record and filing room, Room 4, on a floor space between the 12 and 14 floors on the northerly side of the building, known as … S.W. Corner of … Streets, Calif. All publications ordered from you have been received… These readings have stimulated my mind, so that I am now re-reading the material for new and fresher thoughts… I am anxiously awaiting this experience in hopes of finding both mental and physical relief from my present condition.”
