This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [5141], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, or giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called [5141]. In giving an interpretation of the records, there are many very definite decisions made by the entity, and these refer as much to that which may be the course of the experience or the life of the entity in the earth’s plane as in any correspondence that might be had regarding same.

3. For the entity is a “sensitive” itself and may hear, feel or interpret premonitions in its own body-experience, to a greater or lesser degree; this degree depending upon the application of the entity to the conditions or environs or surroundings of the entity.

4. The abilities of the entity to judge a person at once is sometimes carried most too far. It is well that impressions be heeded, but as will be seen from the pattern of the entity, this may apply: “Judge not that ye be not judged, for with what judgment ye judge, it shall be meted to thee again.”

5. Thus, as the entity studies the problems of the conditions, it is well that those things be kept directly in mind.

6. While there is an appeal to the entity for the great outdoors, yet as we find, the entity would be little adaptable to or not satisfied, in the environs of the country. Hence the city, where at least there are thirty, forty, fifty thousand occupants, would be the sources of activities, but we would not change materially from the present environs; that is, the immediate, - for these are well-grounded into those experiences of the entity, but when these things indicated are accomplished, there will be a much more joyous activity than may be had without understanding, interpreting the relationships of the sojourns from which the entity took its last flight.

7. Thus we find an entity capable of making a beautiful home, capable of making entertainment, and making those activities which bring about helpful forces for others.

8. We would not change the occupation, though the entity dislikes at times the confinement of the druggist, yet there are reasons why this has been a part of the consciousness, as we shall see through those experiences of the entity in the sojourns in the earth.

9. Before this we find the entity was in the Dearborn land or “Old Chicago”. Thus the activities should be towards things which would pertain to a city, or endowments from a city, or activities in which groups or organizations would make for activities of the entity in its keeping records, as well as keeping accounts for same.

10. These are the channels in which the entity acts, and as indicated there should be the keeping of the activities as the druggist and later a change of environ would be well, but always in the larger city.

11. Do that.

12. Before that we find the entity was in the Holy Land during those periods when there was the keeping of groups together for aiding those who had established, and who were establishing, those periods of activities following the persecutions.

13. The entity was among those who looked after the ill, those who were bereaved in the various groups journeying from one city to another, but ever keeping faith with the brethren.

14. Thus the interest of the entity in things psychic, as well as the necessity of the entity following close to the dictates of its own conscience.

15. The name then was Asher.

16. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those activities in the Temple of Sacrifice.

17. The entity acted in the capacity, then, of what today is called the apothecary, or the chemist, or the compounder of medical herbs, or in the preparation of certain activities as related to surgery; which was practiced even in those days.

18. The name then was Erna-Dunn.

19. As to the abilities of the entity, that to which it may attain: The activities had best be in those directions indicated. Not too much travel about, although this may be a part of the consciousness. But as we find, in places like Memphis, Tenn, Austin, Texas; or in such as St. Charles, La., or such may be the better environs for the entity.

20. Ready for questions.

21. (A) If a change in the environs is made, would you advise that I dispose of my present store? (A) Not necessarily, but these would eventually be well, and when such is done, the papers needed will be at hand.

22. (Q) Would my health stand for this change? (A) Health would be better in the change.

23. We are through with this reading.

B1. 9/7/43 Letter: ”…I have read with interest two articles lately dealing with various problems that you have solved, and I have wondered if you could do the same for me… I am 49 years old and have been engaged for the past 25 years in a business that requires all of my time for 7 days a week, and about 14 hours daily. My wife also has had to help me in order that we could handle it. I had said for years that after my daughter graduated from college, I would attempt to get into some other line of work that did not require such long hours or whereby it would not be necessary for my wife to work also. With that thought in mind, I started in with a correspondence course about 3 months ago, and have done very well with it. About a month ago, having read about the ‘Human Engineering Laboratories’ where they make aptitude tests, I went through the tests, and now find that they do not think that what I had intended to go into would be the thing to do, so I am in somewhat of a quandary as to just what to do. (1) What I would like to know, is what is the proper thing for me to do now? (2) Should I continue with the course and complete it, and go into that line of work which I think I would like to do, as it is somewhat connected with what I am already doing, or take up the line of work that the Laboratory suggested which in a way is also connected with my present line?… If I have not given you enough information, would be glad to furnish you with more. I have purposely not mentioned either what I am now doing, or what I am now taking, or what has been suggested to me, so that your opinion would not be influenced by knowing this. I would appreciate it a lot more than you know by this letter, if I could get this settled, once and for all, for under the present conditions I am at a loss what to do.”

B2. 10/25/43 Letter: ”…I am enclosing membership blank…and would like a Life Reading for myself. I am interested in this type of work and believe in it, and have made the study of astrology a sort of hobby, and have found that it does work out. I have also studied the story of the pyramids, and believe what is written there and predicted when the war started, that it would last from 5 to 10 years, and was laughed at by my friends. I also predicted the attack in Africa and Sicily - the latter to have been made on September 1st, and was kidded a bit when it did not come off until the next week, but read the other day that it had been slated for Sept. 1st, but was held up for some reason or other… The reason that I am asking for this reading, is that I have been in the drug business for the past 28 years, and during that time my wife has helped continually. We had planned to make a change after our daughter had graduated from college,

• which she did last year. I then started to take a correspondence course in Chemistry, and am now working at that. About 2 months ago, I read an article about the ‘Human Engineering Laboratories’, which tests your aptitudes, and went to Chicago and took these tests. Although I have not had their official report, their preliminary report shows that I should not take on the Chemistry as a vocation, but they suggested advertising or music. Now, I don’t know just what to do. I would like to get into some line of work where my wife could stop working. If she does not help me in the store, I cannot handle it alone, and help is out of the question and the store will not support 2 men. I would like to have you send me a telegram collect, telling me the particular time that you will hold this reading for me, so that I can concentrate at that time to help you, for I also believe in mental telepathy…”

(2) I have lost or misplaced something that is essential to selling the store, can this item be found, and if so where? (3) I would like to live in the south, either Florida or Virginia or Tenn; would this be the proper place to go? I am going to try and help this reading by devoting this hour on this date to prayer.”
