This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - [5143], new associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, “There is a River”.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis and J. Fitch, Stenos.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Washington.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes. As we find, there has been in times back an injury to the coccyx end of the spine. This, through the pressures it has created, and the body, as it were, “giving way” to the disturbances, has gradually caused a great deal of discomfort in the area.
-
As we find, we would use the hydrotherapy treatment or Glyco-Thymoline as a means of relaxing this lower portion of the cerebro-spinal system. Let this extend from about the last dorsal to the end of the spine, and then make gentle corrections, massaging the body through the area, especially with Olive Oil.
-
Do these, be persistent, be consistent and we will bring bettered conditions for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How often should the Glyco-Thymoline Packs be given? (A) These should be given rather in series, three or five at a time; that is, an hour or so each day for about three or four days. Then a massage should follow each one of these treatments, with the combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil, to give elasticity, to give healing to the general activities of the body. These, as we find, offer the better possibility of bringing bettered conditions for the body.
This, as we find, need not necessarily become a malignant condition.
-
(Q) Should the Packs have heat applied over them? (A) They should not have heat applied in the beginning. When there has been a little better movement established through the sacral and lumbar, we would then begin with the application of salt heat over the Glyco-Thymoline Packs.
-
(Q) Should the corrections be started at the same time? (A) Not until at least there is the second series. A series of the Packs should last for at least twenty treatments.
-
(Q) Should the corrections be osteopathic? (A) Should be better done osteopathically.
-
(Q) What diet should I take to relieve me of continued constipation? (A) Raisins, figs, all small foods, pie plant, oatmeal and such should bring bettered conditions through the alimentary canal.
-
We are through with this reading.

Background
Background
B1. 12/30/43 Letter: “Some time ago, I sent for the book ‘There Is A River’, and read it with very great interest, and passed it on to others, and still do. It is not mere curiosity, but a sincere interest and desire to know more about the subject. For many years, I have been deeply interested in that subject… I deeply desire to become more useful and more of a real blessing to my people for the time allotted to me in this life.”
B2. 1/13/44 Letter: ”…I take the liberty to accept your kind offer for a Physical Reading, which you so kindly included. But may I ask your help a little sooner than you have mentioned in your letter, that you are already 9 to 12 months ahead in appointments? The reason for this is I have a continued pain on the lower part of the spine, and I am worried it might be cancer. I would appreciate very much your very kind consideration.”
B3. 2/1/44 Letter: “Thank you most sincerely for your very kind answer, and early consideration of my request. I will be ready at the appointed time. I think I can be at home from church service by that time… May God bless you and keep you well for years to come…”
B4. 3/13/44 Letter: ”…I am sorry to hear that you are sick… We trust and pray that you may soon be able again to take your blessed work, and until that time, I am perfectly willing to wait until you can give another date. Preferably, though, not on a Sunday, as I have very little time then. I want to keep my membership in the organization.”
B5. 4/4/44 Letter: “Thank you for the new appointment. I will remember the time and be ready for you…”
B6. 5/12/44 Letter: ”…You will find me on that day at home in the parsonage of the Zion Congregational Church. At the appointed time, I will be in the upper front room facing east, I will spend that hour in prayer and meditation. A little over 3 years ago, I sat accidently on the edge of a seat, and since that time I feel a dull pain at the end of the spine. It does worry me at times, since I have been seeing so many cases of cancer on that part of the body, and also the terrible suffering of which I am afraid, I will confess. I also had already 2 operative treatments for piles, which sometime may develop into cancer. For years already, I am troubled with constipation. I have to take pills, or salts or mineral oil in order to get a bowel movement. I eat very little meat, use no intoxicating drinks, but drink coffee. Does that pain around the lower part of the spine indicate the possibility of cancer?”
