This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5185], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: As we find, there are disturbances which are preventing the better physical activity and these are progressive in their nature. While the administrations which are being made with the injections are good, they are not being assimilated by the system, and these cause disturbances that are not good for the body, as the rash which occurs on parts of the body and becomes very aggravating.

3. The chemical changes are the sources of these conditions which cause the stiffening of the joints, the inability of proper activity of the voluntary nervous system, as with hands, knees, feet, elbows, the muscular forces of these.

4. These, then, may be materially aided. There will be the necessity of some patience, and some persistent activity.

5. First, we would begin and take one drop of Atomidine for at least five days; one drop each morning before any meal is taken.

6. Then on the sixth day, take five drops, and within that day, preferably in the evening, have an Epsom Salts Bath. This is to be followed by, and during the Bath, with a massage of the feet, limbs, hands, arms, elbows, and along the cerebrospinal system up to the back of the neck. Have this pretty warm, not so hot as to be uncomfortable but keep it warm by adding water. Have this in about forty gallons of water, with at least fifteen pounds of Epsom Salts in same.

7. Rest after this for three or four days, but do have after the bath the rub with Peanut Oil.

8. Then begin with the use of the low Wet Cell Appliance carrying Chloride of Gold into the system vibratorially. This should be made at least full strength, or at least two pounds of the Copper Sulphate and the rest in proportion, only one-half pound of Charcoal.

9. Do attach the small plate to the body at the 9th dorsal. The larger plate, through which the solution passes vibratorially, attach to the umbilical and lacteal duct center. From the navel center measure the width of five fingers to the right, and one finger, two fingers, three fingers up. Have this one-half hour each day.

10. Follow this with the massage with the Peanut Oil. Disconnect when not being used, taking the connections out of the solutions. Have three ounces of the Gold Solution, one grain to one ounce.

11. Do keep this regularly each day with the massage as given after the bath.

12. Then take one drop of Atomidine each day for five days. Then have the Bath on the sixth day, having taken on the fifth day five drops of Atomidine.

13. Then continue, recharging the Appliance with new solutions, including the new solution of the Gold.

14. We will find that in the diet, most of the salt used should be kelp salt or health salt. There shouldn’t be large quantities of white bread or white potatoes, but fish, fowl and lamb may be taken, and a great deal of raw vegetables. These should be prepared oft with gelatine. Grate them, scrape or cut them very fine, but do put the juices in them. Do include a great deal of carrots and water cress.

15. These done, we will bring much better conditions for this body. We may even eliminate these disturbances entirely from the system.

16. Ready for questions.

17. (Q) Should I discontinue the injections of Gold? (A) Should discontinue, for as has been indicated, this is not being assimilated properly.

18. (Q) Is this condition arthritis? (A) It is arthritis.

19. (Q) What is cause of the infection in my blood? (A) The chemical unbalance in the system.

20. (Q) What work could I do that would help me support myself, considering my present physical condition? (A) After this treatment has been applied for some time, such work as of addressing letters, with addressograph or hand; any work that would not require long standing on the feet. Pattern making or cutting and the like. These the body may be able to do.

21. (Q) Are any foods that are being taken causing the itch? (A) This is from, as has been indicated, the non-assimilation of the Gold.

22. We are through with this reading.

R3. 10/5/49 Reply to questionnaire: “I did not follow the recommendations, as I could not get the Wet Cell Appliance at that time. I did use the Epsom Salts Baths and massage of Peanut Oil for a time, and then some diet. Then I became worse and was under a doctor’s care here for 2 years. I did not give the recommendations in the Physical Reading a fair trial.”

B1. Born 4/18/95 in New Jersey; married; separated; no children; unemployed.

B2. 1/22/44 Letter: “I read an article in ‘Coronet’ about your wonderful work, and sent for information. I also sent for a case study on arthritis which was very interesting and a wonderful cure… For 2 1/2 years, I have had serious trouble with my joints (shoulders, fingers, whole hands, wrists and knees). When it started in the shoulders, the doctor said it was ‘bursitis’. It spread to the hands and wrists. Every time I used my hands or arms, some joint would throb like a toothache, and I would have to sit up for the night. This would last from 24 to 36 hours. They would be very sore for 2 or 3 days, and then let up some. I always had a little pain. My hands were very swollen and I had to wear wrist bands to hold anything at all. Now I am just using the right one. It feels like ligaments passing each other, when I use it.

In August 1942, I fell and broke a vein in my right thigh, had a ‘gross hometemia’ [hematoma?]; I was in bed for 8 weeks. I had pains in my shoulders and arms almost continuously. Last Feb. 1943, my foot was spotted and pained so, the doctor kept me under dope. He said ‘rheumatic fever’. I was in bed for 2 weeks. March 8, 1943, I called to see the doctor. The day was windy, but clear; by the time I arrived home, my knees had stiffened up. I cannot bend them to go downstairs, but go one step at a time. Sometimes I can use both legs to come up, but other times I just bend the right one. I had allergic tests from Sept. 1942 to Nov. 1942 to Feb. 1943. Some calcium was injected into me. Another doctor gave me 12 injections of one serum and diagnosed it as arthritis. Not improving, or my knees being just as stiff, he sent me to a specialist. This specialist said it was arthritis, due to a ‘gland trouble’. I had blood tests and a metabolism test, and 12 more injections. I have been taking gland medicine since last June. At that time he said ‘complete rest’. I spent approximately 21 hours a day in bed for 6 weeks, and rest quite somehow now; when I am on my feet for a time, I can hardly move, so I am in and out of bed all the time. I cannot get up from a chair without pushing myself up with my arms, and then this hurts my wrists and shoulders. I have to sit on a pillow or high stool, so as not to strain my knees and the cords in the back of my legs. For 3 or 4 months, I could not stand with my feet flat on the floor. I always had to have a cuban heel. Now I can stand in my bare feet, but the cords in the back of my legs pull tight and my knees swell and are so sore that I cannot rest one against the other, even while lying in bed. I cannot walk in shoes with heels lower than cuban. Now my hands and wrists are very painful again, and my hands are swelling. I do not want to go through all the pain again, and would like to regain my health so I can increase my income…”

B3. 5/18/44 Letter: ”…I am feeling a little better, but cannot stay up long at one time without getting terribly tired after about 1/2 hour or an hour at the longest. The doctor is giving me the gold salts treatment now. As I am writing, my hand goes to sleep, and I have no feeling in it. I will have to snap out of it in order to continue. I am listing some questions… The muscles directly my knees are stiff, and I do not have any power in them. I cannot get up off a chair without pushing myself up on my arms at or a piece of furniture. (1) Will my knees improve…? (2) The cords in the back of my knees are tight and pull. It is very hard to bend and I can’t bend at times. What can I do for them? (3) My hands and wrists are very sore. The cords pass in my wrists and snap. I have no strength in my hands. What will help them? (4) My right hand is numb most of the time and prickles when I sew, write, eat certain food or get dust on my hands. What causes this?… (5) I have hives and quite a breaking out on my left wrist. Are they hives, and what can I do to be relieved of the itching? Do certain foods cause it?…”
