This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of April, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [520], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.Y.

GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
As we find, there are many changes in the body here since last we had same. There have been those experiences with that of a thrombus [blood clot?] nature, or trouble, - which has been materially aided.
-
If there are the proper precautions, and the taking of sufficient physical exercise and the physical hydrotherapy treatments, - these taken only occasionally, - we may keep the body - now - for a period, at least - in a fair condition.
-
There have been those upsettings such as to overtax the organs themselves. If there will be the careful analysis of that which we have indicated here before for the body, as to a tendency which existed, it will be seen that if the body had taken same seriously and gone about to have those corrections made at that time, there need not have occurred the disturbances. [See 520-2, 2/17/31.]
-
When the hydrotherapy is taken, we find this should include the ultra-violet light with the green glass injected between the body and the ultra-violet. These taken, practically, once a month, or sometimes twice a month, or even three times a month, will keep the body physically fit - in the present conditions.
-
Otherwise, we may find accumulations that may not only affect the heart but also the liver, the kidneys, AND the whole of that internal circulation.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What were the particular causes of my recent illness of Jan. and Feb. 1943? (A) You had BEST be careful about what is NOW, and not looking back!
-
We are through with this Reading.
Two copies to Self (one for Dr. H. J. Reilly, R.C.A. Bldg., 1250 Sixth Ave., N.Y.C.) Copy to Ass’n file
[Extract from your Reading 520-2, 2/17/31: “The general physical conditions are very good in most respects. Beware of the tendency of a form of anemia, affecting especially or directly the eliminations as related to kidneys. These are as warnings. Be mindful that the diet is not too much of that which would bring such a stimuli in this direction as to overtax the organs themselves.”
The above is the only reference I find in any of your Readings to a physical condition, so it must be that referred to. We’d appreciate the history of your case to compare with this information. GD.]
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/27/43 Letter from [520] to EC: ”…I read the last reading several times, and then compared it with my own physician’s report and diagnosis. I said nothing to my wife and asked her to read what Mr. Cayce had to tell about my condition. We both formed our independent opinions and without being too critical we arrived at the same conclusion: THE READING WAS NOT IN LINE WITH MY PHYSICIAN’S REPORT. Nothing was mentioned about my recent illness. At no time did I have a heart or kidney condition. Fortunately, I had E.K.G.’s taken at two instances; once a couple of weeks before my illness; and another taken while I was confined in the hospital. In both instances it showed that my stout heart was normal and subsequent x-ray photographs and various tests showed that my kidneys likewise functioned normally.
“No mention was made of my actual recent illness; none of the several questions were answered; the information requested is still to come forth.
“Please understand that I am not seeking to make idle criticism. I still have unconfirmed belief in the efficacy of Mr. Cayce’s physical readings. I WANT THEM TO BE ACCURATE not only for myself, but for the benefit of OTHERS that presently NEED HELP, such as my wife’s mother who has been seriously in the hospital these past several months. Of course, I am interested in fully understanding and confirming my own recent illness so that I may prevent future illness caused by what has happened to me.
“Please review my questions, and advise me if or when I may have them properly answered. Thereafter I will send you a photostat copy of my physician’s report and diagnosis…”
R2. 4/30/43 Letter from EC to [520]: ”…My dear [520], I wish them to be accurate; but please know I have nothing to do with what is said, and no one’s criticism, as yet, has changed the view the information takes. What it says it says, and I can’t change it! The only question to me is this: do those that use that as is given get results in their experience? And the answer has been in the greater majority of cases for more than 40 years YES. Then what any one may think of their individual case is: if they don’t like it, then don’t bother about it. You just can’t make the information agree with you. I wish I could make it agree with some of my own ideas, but I haven’t been able to do that in 66 years so I have quit trying. Yet daily there are hundreds that say it does work for them.
“We will not have a chance for a reading now until some time in August, so that gives you some idea of the number that are asking. We have just had to quit making definite appointments, but will be glad to try and help; but to make it say this or that - NO!…”
R3. 4/10/50 Letter: “I was operated Jan. 24th and went to Florida in February to recuperate.”
R4. 1/61 GD’s letter (in answer to his of 11/13/60 requesting a copy of his life readings 520-1 and 520-3): “Would you at this late date give us the physician’s diagnosis of your condition when you were hospitalized in Jan.-Feb. 1943? Was this the same condition for which you had surgery in Jan. 1950? A detailed description from you of your physical problems from your viewpoint and the doctor’s would enable us to complete our records regarding your physical reading on 4/19/43 [520-6].”
R5. 4/18/71 Mr. [520] visited A.R.E., told GD he could not remember what his exact trouble was when he was hospitalized in 1943, but he thought it was some kind of distension [?]. He indicated that he had undergone surgery three times during the last twenty years; the last was last year for removal of prostate, and before that for the gall bladder, etc.
He asked GD for Dr. Harold J. Reilly’s address, thinking he would at this late date try to get some physiotherapy treatments from him. He is fairly healthy but is somewhat overweight and has a time trying to stick to a moderation diet.
Background
Background
B1. 1/28/43 Mr. [520]‘s wife [2860]‘s wire: “Give emergency reading for [520]… Hospital. Specific causes of attacks. What cure?” [Appointment was not made due to GD’s illness. On 2/10/43 Mr. [520] was offered an appointment but he did not take advantage of it, said he could not afford the $10 for a reading since his hospital bills had been so great.]
B2. 4/14/43 Questions submitted: “What were the particular causes of my recent illness of Jan. & Feb. ‘43? Is it necessary for me to be operated upon? If so, for what? I want this reading as a check-up to my own physician who has written his opinion of my case, and I want to check one against the other. Later - or following Mr. Cayce’s reading I will send you a photostat copy of my own physician’s summary and diagnosis so you can compare it with the findings of the reading.”
