This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by the parents, new Associate Members of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.Y.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [5209].

3. As we find, there are disturbing conditions. The sources or beginnings of these are karmic. There were those disturbances at and just after birth which have produced plastic [spastic?] conditions in the extremities.

4. As we find, there needs to be just the corrections which are being made, through the massage, through the treatments that will aid in breaking up gradually, the lesions or the plastic [spastic] conditions in muscles, in tendons, in joints, and sufficient of the massage that there is the ability of the systems to eliminate same. The karmic conditions are needed for the entity, or soul development of the entity, and those who have the responsibility of same; in that source from which all healing comes. For whether it be medicinal, mechanical or what sources, healing can only come from the divine. For as has been indicated, “Who healeth all thy diseases?” Him in whom we live and move and have our being.

5. Thus we may through those administrations of that which is the spirit of truth made manifest, turn this karma, or law, to grace and mercy. For the pattern hath been given those who seek to know His face.

6. Added to that which is being administered, we would add the vibrations of the Wet Cell Appliance which will carry Iodine and Gold vibratorially to the body. These combined with the mechanical applications of the massage, of the low electrical forces, will aid in making each atom of this body conscious of grace, of mercy, of patience, of long-suffering, of brotherly love; and against such there is no law but the law of grace.

7. In making the Appliance, do make this with the two pounds of Copper Sulphate, one and one-half gallons of distilled or rain water, the rest of the solutions in the proportions as indicated. Do charge the solution with Iodine (three ounces), suspended into the solution during the thirty minutes charge, on the low battery charge, not the high; let this remain in the solution.

8. Then, through the Gold (one grain to one ounce) let the connections be at the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, and at the lower portion of the 9th dorsal plexus. The Iodine and the Gold Salts will be taken vibratorially to the body through that assimilated by the body.

9. Then with the massage, with the vibrations given regularly, we will bring help for this body. Attach the larger plate to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus which on this body will be three fingers from the navel center to the right side and one finger up, for thirty minutes each day. Follow same with the massage. Do not let this interfere with the other low electrical treatment given to break up - the short wave treatments. Do these.

11. (Q) Should all present treatments be continued? (A) All present treatments should be continued. When the Appliance which is given here has been used for thirty days (and disconnect, when not in use, from body - keep the connections very clean) do recharge, and charge with the same solution of Tincture of Iodine in the solution. Change the solution of Gold to be sure. For this will precipitate, see?

12. (Q) Same diet? (A) Same diet, but add all the body will assimilate of the B-1, that is, B-1 complex, see?

13. (Q) Should the use of the Appliances be continued (back and leg braces)? (A) They should be used when there is exercise, yes.

14. (Q) What is the condition in the sacro-iliac and hips? (A) The tendons and muscles are plastic [spastic?]. This is why in the massage and the short wave we gradually disseminate these, see?

15. (Q) What causes spasm in his legs? (A) The attempt of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nerve ends to coordinate. There will be a little more of these after a bit but these are not too severe.

16. (Q) What causes and what should be done for periodic vomiting spells? (A) After we have used the Wet Cell Appliance for fifteen to twenty days, we should have little or no more of the vomiting. For this passing through the solar plexus, and this being as an aid to digestion and assimilation, should rid these conditions from the body.

Keep the prayer; hope for, believe. For according to thy faith be it unto thee.

R1. 7/13/44 Mother’s letter: “We wanted to wait until we had actually something to report before we wrote you; however, even though a month has passed since our very enjoyable and uplifting visit with you, we have not been able to get on with the main part of the reading’s instruction… As yet we have neither appliance nor a reply from Mr. Godfrey… We are so anxious to start those treatments, as you well understand…there just doesn’t seem to be money enough to show our appreciation to you, but maybe some day we shall come across something that we know would be the very thing… One of my chief regrets about the trip is that I didn’t bring my copy of the book to be autographed, but perhaps I shall be fortunate enough to meet you again some time.”

R2. 7/17/44 EC’s letter: ”…I hope that by this time you have gotten the materials from Mr. Godfrey, and that you will have no trouble in getting this arranged for the young man…do follow through with the suggestions. While it may grow very wearying at times, it is the following through that is important…”

B1. 8/11/43 Aunt’s letter: “The book TIR was given to me as a birthday gift, and reading it has made & very deep impression upon me. So deep, that I felt it my duty to write to you about a great problem which we have in our family. My sister…has a boy who will be 8 years old in November, and he has never been able to walk. We have tried almost everything: hospitals, chiropractors, and at present he is being treated by a physio-therapist but is not making any noticeable progress. His trouble has been diagnosed as spastic para-plesia, his mentality is very high, if anything it is above normal; he is very cooperative and very anxious to walk. We are almost desperate, for it is awful to stand by helpless when we know that there must be something can be done… I felt after reading the book that I had found the key to the whole situation, and that the one who gave me the book was led to do so. We have prayed so earnestly for help and guidance… My sister does not know that I am writing to you, for though she has read your book, she is afraid to ask your help, seeming to think that you will not have the time for the boy. But I feel that his kind of help must come through Truth, as the medical men have admitted that they do not know how to help, except by a brain operation, and that is too big a step to take when they are not sure. The boy’s name is [5209]. His father is a mortician, and there is one other child in the family. She is 16 years old and is a perfectly normal girl in every way. There is no history of this or any other kind of disease in the family, so we can’t see where it might be hereditary. I, myself, have 2 children and a grandchild, all of whom are healthy and normal…”

B2. 8/26/43 Mother’s letter: ”…We are deeply interested in your work, and so many of us want to read the literature, I wonder if I might not have a set mailed to me directly. I should very much like to pass it on, particularly to the man who recommended TIR to me. He is a physio-therapist now treating my boy. Incidentally, the little fellow is twice daily repeating a simplified version of the affirmation suggested. Thank you so much for this ray of hope.”

B3. 9/13/43 Mother’s letter: “Thank you for your kind and prompt reply to my request for a reading for our little boy. My delay in answering is due to the fact that I wished to consult with the physio-therapist concerning the questions we should ask at the time of the reading. We see him twice a month and travel to … to do so, and this, I think will explain my tardy reply. Of course, it was rather a disappointment to have to wait until June, but we can also appreciate how many other folks there are in the same boat…”

B4. 5/18/44 Mother’s letter: “Now that our long wait is drawing to a close, I find that I shall have to trouble you with a few questions. It has always been our intention to bring our boy to Virginia for the reading… Shall we need to be there some time before the exact hour of the reading? There may be another question to add… (1) Would a brain operation help? (2) What causes and what should be done for periodic vomiting spells? (3) What would be the proper remedy: homeopathic, electric or allopathic? (4) What therapy should be applied? (5) Is treatment now used correct? (infra-red and cold quartz sun-ray lamps, massage and electric vibrator, short wave diathermy and sinusoidal, high caloric diet) (6) Will he ever walk? It is our understanding that the reading is scheduled for… I feel sorry to trouble you but think these are essentials, too, so that none of your time will be lost, and do appreciate your helping us…”

B5. 5/22/44 GD’s letter: ”…Since we have your questions, it isn’t necessary for you to come in until time for your reading; however, it may be well for you to get here around 3 o’clock so you can meet and talk with Mr. Cayce a few minutes before the reading begins…”
