This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by self, Mr. [5243] new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called: [5243].

3. As we find, there is much to be considered in giving an analysis of the life experience through the material sojourn, as well as the consciousnesses of the entity in other realms.

4. Here we find an entity supersensitive in many ways, yet the entity is not severe enough with self. Just be as severe in the choice or periods of recreation, periods of adding to self knowledge, periods of rest, periods of activity, as ye in self demand of others. But get that first principle: demand or ask not of others that you would not do yourself. These are the beginnings of wisdom, especially in relationships to others.

5. And as we find the entity should prepare self especially in the activities which would pertain to writing or, as a vocation or avocation, the correspondent. These should be the types of activities.

6. A director of publications, contributor to publications, activities as in relationships to same and their effect upon the lives of others.

7. These, as we find, should be the channels or the outlet for the entity, if these are kept in their proper proportion and proper relationships to other experiences in the earth, as well as in the sojourns in other realms.

8. Be mindful of, careful of, things which pertain to that which is too mysterious. These be warned against, for the mind of the entity is practical, and yet practically, if studied properly from the highest spiritual advocation of the mental application of self in sincere terms, would bring the best in relationships to the earth.

9. The abilities indicated either as the journalist or in writing should be the experience in this sojourn.

R1. 7/8/44 Letter: “This letter is a little late getting to you, but I wish to thank you for my reading. All of my questions were not answered, but I realize it was just probably meant to be so. You did answer the most important one, however, as to my vocation. And it was the answer I most wanted to hear. Now I am definitely going ahead with it. Thank you and I hope to have another reading some time, and if anything happens that may be of interest to you, I will let you know.”

B1. 9/12/43 Letter: “Like most other people who have consulted you, I am asking for help. My question is vocational. I believe that I already know what I want to do, but there are several things I’m interested in and I would like especially to concentrate on the one I’m best fitted for. Would you please tell me what my field is? I had heard of you and was planning to come to Virginia, but I understand you might answer by mail. I am not in the habit of writing to people that I don’t know, but I believe you can help me. And believe me, I intend to work to help my fellow man. My college education was interrupted by the war, and at the present time I am an air cadet. However, when this all over, I am going back to school. My course is already decided upon but I mean to take your advice into account…”

B2. 11/13/43 Letter: ”…Here are some questions that I would like to have answered: (1) What is my profession - the one to which I am best adapted and can achieve the largest measure of success? (2) How can I best prepare for that career? (3) Should I risk living according to my rather unconventional plans, or live in the usual manner? (4) From which hobbies or side interest could I derive the most satisfaction and pleasure? (5) In what way can I best help my fellow man…”

B3. 2/11/44 Letter: “(1) In what way is it intended that I serve my fellow man, as to my vocation and actual work? (2) In what work will I be able to succeed in a greater degree than any other? (3) Please try to elaborate; not only the profession, but the field within it. (4) Will I be able to make a reasonable living through writing? (5) In which section of the world should I engage in my work? (6) Is the girl that I’m thinking of marrying, the right one? (7) Should I try to follow out my rather unorthodox plans, or proceed in a safe, cautious path? (8) Is writing my work? (9) And if so, which type of writing should I specialize in? (10) To which college should I go to study? (11) Should I try some of the investments I have thought of? (12) In which ones and in what areas are the prospects the brightest?…”

B5. 5/25/44 Letter: ”…I consider it well worth waiting for, and feel honored to have it… I do believe that you can help me. My first three questions are of special importance to me. You no doubt know of the quandary a young man finds himself in when he tries to choose his vocation. It is going to greatly influence the path I will take. Thank you very much, sir, and may God bless you and your work. (1) What are the things that stand between me and the perfection of my soul as God would have me perfect it? (2) How can I best repay my mother for all she has done for me? (3) What vocation would I be best fitted to follow… (4) Just what is my relationship with girls, especially those I have met already? (5) Is it time for me to marry yet?…”
