Episcopal) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [5244], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet Magazine.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [5244].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them, these as we find are written upon the skein of time and space and are impressions made by what the entity has done about the law of cause and effect and its spiritual interpretation in its relationship to opportunities and individuals in the experiences in the earth.

4. Thus, there are urges which are latent and manifested. Those experiences through which a soul entity in spirit, in mind passes, have their creating urges as one forms habits in a material plane, as one forms the nature of doing things, going to this, depending on that, relying on the other; for life is one. Not that it has dwelt in Venus or Jupiter or Uranus in a physical body, but that comparable to that stage of consciousness in which these awarenesses are obtained.

5. Thus we find, comparing the astrological with the material sojourns, these are characteristics:

The entity apparently at times, to others, is very quiet, keeps thinking, tending to be alone, to think things through, to determine in self the sources, the natures, the causes and the effects which may be produced or might be or should be produced by certain processes of combinations of thought, of applications, of attunement to this or that endeavor. These are characteristics of the entity.

7. Thus the things which have to do with the dealing with chemical or electric or those things of a creative nature, will be of special interest to the entity.

8. Those things where there may be improvements, trials doing them in different ways, may be part of the experience, should be the work of the entity; such as in either chemical analysis or photography or etchings or of such natures, X-ray or the like, may be the better field or would be better fields for endeavor of the entity than that in a definite routine.

9. Those urges from astrological sojourns as indicated:

10. Jupiter indicates the great benevolent influences. Thus things which have to do with serious aides as well as a universal consciousness are of special interest to the entity; things which are unusual; interest in metaphysics; interest in philosophical subjects; all are part of the consciousness of the entity.

11. As to the appearances of the entity in the earth’s plane, these, as we find, are quite varied. While all will not be indicated for the entity, these indicate the pattern, as it were, and the latent and manifested urges, which may be indicated to the entity here.

12. In analyzing self, first know what is thy ideal. This is necessary if there would be unfoldment or development, spiritually, mentally, materially. For there is the body, the mind and the soul, and that which comes into mind is first of spirit, and that which the mind dwells upon it acts upon or refrains from, but the action brings material manifestations in material conditions.

13. Thus may the entity, as any entity, control the urges that grow or are dismissed in the experience. Do not entertain that which is not in line or in keeping with the spiritual, mental and material ideal.

14. As in the appearances in the earth:

15. Before this we find the entity was in the period during or just before what is now called the American Revolution, when there were those preparations for separations or for controlling of groups and group activities.

16. Then we find the entity was interested in mining, exploration, as well as the activities in furs; and thus becoming, in and through the periods of the war, as one pledged to keep certain activities in outward fields open, using same through the abilities as the one to keep in touch with “out of the way” places. This the entity did, in the name of Phillip McAll.

17. In the experience the entity gained through its sincerity of contacts with various types of groups “in out of the way” places.

18. The entity likes to think of those conditions where little is known, and “out of the way places.” The entity likes to dine or eat in “out of the way places.” The entity likes to go to such places for recreation and activities. These are innate.

19. The abilities for using unusual sort of information for the benefit of self, as well as for others, are the inventive portion of the nature of the entity.

20. Before that we find the entity was in the French land, when there were those experimentations by individuals respecting the activity of silver, or of light upon silver, and use of same in making certain character of prints or shadows.

21. Thus the entity’s interest in photographic activities or of such natures.

22. These would be well to be a part of the entity’s development or experience, but take training in the regular activities of light and shadow and the entity will have many improvements and various processes, if this is a part of the experience.

23. The entity was then known as Pierrie. In the experience the entity was not thought well of, but rather of being a recluse.

24. But the abilities in the present arise much from those meditations through which the entity passed in those experiences.

25. Before that we find the entity was in the Roman land. The entity then was among those who were sent to the various stations for the care of, or as what today would be called clerk to, those who were in authority.

26. Hence figures, keeping of numbers, the keeping of records become a part of the consciousness of the entity. In the name then Solonus.

27. In the experience the entity applied self to those things in which the occult and scientific become a part of the consciousness of the entity, and thus the deep thinker. These the entity should hold to.

Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those activities in the Temple of Sacrifice, when there were those experiments with bloodless surgery or the use of electric knives, the use of electric processes for the variation in the activities of elements in the physical body. These the entity applied in the experience as an aid to those preparing individuals for the corrective measures through operative forces.

29. Thus, we find the entity interested in unusual ideas pertaining to the effect of chemical or other influences as of the higher arts upon mind of man.

30. In the experience, the entity was known as Asha-Ahal.

31. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain and how:

32. As has been indicated, first find self, then apply self in body, in mind, in purpose, through first planning the experiences that will lead the entity to helpful forces in and out of the material activities.

33. Ready for questions.

34. (Q) How may the change be made or release without prejudice be secured? (A) Keep in the present position, but while there prepare self for those activities as the specialist in photography.

35. (Q) Is there any past karma to be worked out between the body and the individual in its working vibration who has caused friction in the situation? (A) This is well to be changed now, as soon as there are those preparations of self for such changes. Yes, these are karmic but you’re making them in the present.

36. (Q) What is indicated in regard to the body’s association with the Wooddale Club? (A) These might be made well but these we would leave for the present to other activities, rather than of special activities of the entity himself.

37. (Q) Is it indicated in the body’s life plan that he will marry? (A) This must be a choice of the entity. If it is, it should not be until after the 31st or 32nd year. [1/18/52 GD’s note: Was this indicating it was well that he had not thus far married, or was it implying that his present indicated age of 33 was incorrect?]

38. (Q) How may I tell when I meet the right person? (A) It is an answer to something within.

R3. 12/3/49 Reply to questionnaire: “I feel that my life reading was inaccurate. My concept of karma is something you yourself have done or thought or left undone or unthought in a previous incarnation. I have not in any respect consciously changed as a result of my life reading. I look upon my vocation as an agency through which I can better fulfill my purpose in life. I have not benefitted at all from my reading, and am very much disappointed in view of all of the evidence in TIR and elsewhere. I cannot say that Mr. Cayce was not a true psychic, but in my own case the whole thing was too general, unable to be verified and the final directive as to vocation curiously coincidental with my remark to contact.” [1/18/52 Comment by GD: “Must be referring to his question regarding interest in photography. Yet his main interests and life work indicated in the Life Reading were not hinted at by [5244] at any time.”]

R4. 12/17/49 Report by E.C.F. Solicitor: ”…Called 3 times and did not find him in. Last time, learned he was unemployed and spent nearly all time at employment offices trying to secure job.”

R5. 2/29/52 Comment by IMG: “No record of verbal or written contact on this case since card of 10/6/50 requesting that he be kept posted on A.R.E. N.Y. lectures, group activities, and that he be sent sample publications.”

B1. 2/29/44 Letter: “In regard to your recent letter, I wish to make an appointment for a physical reading, and also a separate one for a spiritual or mental reading; I have an appointment for a life reading on June 9, 1944. Please let me know the procedure to be followed to make the above 2 readings, and the cost of same. If possible, I would also like to correspond with or meet some of the eastern members, preferably those in N.Y. City who have had a life reading. To discuss the Association and get a better understanding of the reading to come, and get a better understanding of the type of questions to be asked.”

B2. 3/27/44 GD’s card: Made the appointments and referred him to Miss [1387] of N.Y. City, stating: “We do not have a record of your first request for a reading.”

B3. 5/27/44 Letter: ”…Both a mental-spiritual and a physical reading have been reserved for me in November 1944. However, consultation with Miss [1387] has resulted in a decision to postpone the mental-spiritual reading for about 6 months from November 1944. …What specific field of service should the body follow to be most closely in accord with the plan of the divine intelligence for its present earth appearance? Should the body continue in its present position or seek other employment? If change is indicated, in what specific direction should the body move, and how may release without prejudice be secured? Would it be well for the body to do more with its interest in photography? What is indicated in regard to the body’s present venture into the photographic enlarging business?”
