GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5270].
-
As we find, there are conditions which are disturbing to the better physical forces of the body. These have to do with specific disturbances which exist and the effect these produce upon the activity or functioning of organs through the body. As we find, in the activity of the system, each organ is controlled or supplied from the central nerve and blood supply, or from the combination of activity of the blood and nerve supply as it is related to the sensory system. The emotions of the body, the organs which function under or through the emotions of the body, with the activities in the nervous system, all receive impulses for activities from centers along the cerebrospinal system from which they obtain their impulse, either from the impulses of the sympathetic nervous system or the cerebrospinal nervous system.
-
Here we find the greater disturbance in the sympathetic, as indicated in a condition which exists in the brachial centers as non-supplying, through result of the blood and nerve for activities in the organs of the sensory; that is, eyes, ears, nose, throat and the activities in these organs.
-
Also we find, as from specific disturbances which come from the reactions in the organs of the pelvis, these reflexes through the activity of the 3rd cervical and the 9th dorsal and lumbar area.
-
In this connection, we find a specific disorder. There has become a cyst or growth on the right ovary and this produces, from lack of impulse of nerve supply, a tendency for a discharge oft through the vagina which becomes very disturbing to the body. This may be corrected or it may be removed by operative measures. It is preferable, however, that there be taken measures to dissipate same. For with the corrections, unless made to the lumbar and sacral and 9th dorsal and 3rd cervical, it would continue to give those other disturbances.
-
There will be, then, the corrections of those conditions for the optics, the hearing, the activity through nasal passages at the same time, though not exactly the same processes or applications will be used for all; though the mechanical or osteopathic measures should be used.
-
We would find, then, in making administrations for this body, first: We would begin and apply over the ovarian area or across the lower portion of the abdomen area, and over the centers in the pubic center, the Glyco-Thymoline Packs. These would be well to be used at least a half an hour each day. Use this for about a week, then have the osteopathic adjustments begun and at the time these are begun, begin and use daily the alternate Glyco-Thymoline douches and Atomidine douches. One used one day, one used the next day.
-
After there has been about six or eight of the osteopathic adjustments with special reference to the conditions existent in the lumbar and sacral area, 9th dorsal, brachial center, 3rd cervical and of course, the 1st, 2nd cervical and about the head, along the nerves leading to the mastoid area, to the point of the chin, between the eyes, in the temple, these coordinated with corrections and massage given in the lower portions, then after six or eight, do give the short-wave electrical treatment to aid, now, in dissipating the growth. This should be across the lumbar and sacral area - not over three amperes nor not longer than ten to fifteen minutes, see? This would be given about twice a week as about the same as the adjustments.
-
After these have been given it would be well for the adjustments to be given. Each period, then, that these are given, give the adjustments after setting up drainages, keeping up the douches, except through the menstrual periods.
-
For the Atomidine douche, use a teaspoonful of the Atomidine in a quart and a half of body-temperature water. The Glyco-Thymoline douche should have two tablespoonfuls in a quart and a half of body-temperature water. Use only in Fountain Syringe.
-
Do these and we should find this being dissipated and we will find, with the lessening and then entirely eliminating of the discharge, the conditions in eyes, ears and all will be improved.
-
These also will alleviate those tendencies for the preventing of blood energies for the body. For, as we release the activities, there will be better assimilation and better building up; because the drain on the general nerve system because of those conditions in pelvis as well as in the upper areas, or in the brachial centers and in the cervicals and upper dorsals, will relieve the tension.
-
Do add to the body a tonic in that is called Zyrone. Take this one teaspoonful each day, of a morning, at or during the morning meal. This will add the iron, B-1, Niacin, phosphate and B-2 to the diet in sufficient quantity to aid in reliving those tendencies for quickening of the pulse and lack of sufficient red blood cells or the anemia.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What step can I take to prepare myself for pregnancy? (A) We have just been directing, for these measures indicated would be necessary if this would be accomplished in the body, you see?
-
(Q) Is pregnancy advisable? (A) Not unless these corrections here are made.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/19/44 Letter: “For some time I have been wanting to thank you for my very pleasant visit with you on June 17. Upon my return to Washington, I contacted Dr. Lulu Irene Waters Hare & had eight osteopathic treatments. After that, she felt that she did not have the proper electrical equipment. Since I was going to leave Washington, I did not try to find proper electrical treatment until I went to Va. The doctor I approached there, did not seem to understand. Now that I am settled in Va., I wonder if you can tell me the closest place for the electrical treatments. I am eager to be well and strong when my husband returns from overseas. If this requires another reading, please forward the bill. I would also like to put in my application for a Life Reading at this time…”
R2. 3/16/46 Letter to HLC: “All of us who have been cured by your father realize that our country has suffered a great loss in his death. He was truly a great man. I am glad to hear that you are carrying on his work and making his readings available… Will you send anything you have on reincarnation that is not found in ‘There Is A River’? Please keep me informed about your publications. You have no idea how many copies of ‘There Is A River’ I have sold for you.”
R3. 4/7/46 Reply to questionnaire: “Since the age of 14, I had suffered from a very bad discharge, weakened condition; the discharge was the worst the doctors had ever seen. Various diagnoses: some said discharge caused from cyst or tumor; others said I had no tumor. Treatment: various cauterizations, douches, thyroid tablets, etc. My discharge, which doctors had been unable to check, completely disappeared after a month of following the treatments advised by Edgar Cayce: 8 osteopathic treatments, Zyrone and douches. The osteopath was the one recommended by EC [Dr. Lulu Waters Hare], the best I’ve ever seen. However, she did not have electrical equipment for dissipation of cyst. I could find no doctor who would follow directions for electrical treatment. However, I finally persuaded an osteopath in Va. to give me the electrical treatments. I was not very happy over his method, as he would not follow EC’s directions, but went according to his own ideas. But I have been feeling perfectly well, so perhaps his method worked. Am sorry I cannot supply you with names of doctors, but I have been to so many, I made no effort to remember.”
R4. 8/19/47 Reply to questionnaire by Dr. Lulu Waters Hare: “Examined Mrs. [5270] in July 6, 1944. Profuse vaginal discharge. Patient very tired at all times. Had had facial paralysis most severe on left side. Bp. 84/134 - beat 100
- no murmur. Lungs, o.k., Teeth, o.k. Tonsillitis often. Both eye reflex bad, left eye worse. Catarrh of nasal mucosa. Temp. 99. Hemo 90%. Uterus normal size; cervix, o.k. Not constipated. Menstruation regular. Sensitive at 3rd cervical, 9th dorsal, lumbar and sacrum. Tender over abdomen. BM plus 4 1/2. Diagnosis: An infection in pelvis, ovaries and tubes. She had been taking Zyrone so that her hemo. was up to 90%. She continued with douche of Glyco-Thymoline, Atomidine. But what I think did the trick of killing the infection was Sulfathiazole. I gave her osteopathic treatments for the blood supply and nervous reactions at the 3rd cervical, 9th dorsal, lumbar and sacral areas. I gave Mrs. [5270] eight osteopathic treatments, besides giving her the Sulfathiazole.”
R5. 4/12/49 Letter: “For some time, I have wanted to tell you how much my reading by Edgar Cayce meant to me. I feel that, had it not been for that wonderful experience, I would not have my lovely little daughter, nor would I have discovered the great subject of metaphysics. I have 2 copies of ‘There Is A River’ which are in demand constantly. One of the leading clubs in town had me review the book last year. I’m very much like the Ancient Mariner, ‘my experience is one that I feel I must tell to everybody I meet…’”
R6. 6/19/50 Letter: ”…I long for the day when I can make a donation to the bureau and rejoin the Association, because you are doing a wonderful work, and I miss the vast store of information that I received in the pamphlets. But my husband came back from the Army, and started a new business, which is taking our resources at present. Dr. Lawrence [Wilburn Lawrence, D.C.], a very fine chiropractor, has become interested in your work as a result of reading ‘There Is A River’, and my diagnoses…”
R7. 9/6/50 Application for Associate Membership received.
R8. 10/31/50 Letter: “I would have liked so much to attend your Conference these past few days. I have wondered what prophecies your father’s reading might have given concerning our world situation. I am enclosing five dollars, four of which I owe for membership… Below is a list of names I feel might be prospective members…”
R9. 8/22/60 GD’s note: Mrs. [5270] is still a member of A.R.E. and actively interested in its work.
R10. 2/16/71 She wrote: “I am frequently invited to ‘tell my tale’ about Edgar Cayce to various kinds of groups.”
Background
Background
B1. 1/1/44 Letter: “Since reading an article in the September issue of ‘Coronet’, I believe you are the very person who can help me. I have been married for 5 years, and as yet have no children. Both my husband and I are so eager for a family that the situation is making us rather unhappy. I have tried the advice of several doctors, but, so far, to no avail. If you think that a personal interview is necessary, I shall make every effort to see you. Won’t you please help me?”
B2. 1/8/44 Letter: “Will you please send a copy of ‘There Is A River’ to Dr. P. H. I… My best regards to Mrs. Cayce and your fellow-workers…”
B3. 1/19/44 Letter: ”…I was greatly disappointed to read that you are from 9 to 12 months behind in appointments, as I am fighting time more than anything else at present. First, because I am 37 years old, and second, because my husband is now in the army which means anything can happen. Since I have been married, I have sought the advice of the best doctors in the localities where I have lived. Their opinions are always so different, and their medical attention thus far, has done no good. Several people here have recommended a Dr. K. A. T. The night after I received your letter, I dreamed that I went to see him and he advised me to see you first. Now is there any chance at all of my getting a reading soon? I could come down any Saturday…”
B4. 2/44 Letter: “For a great many years, I have had a mucous discharge from my vagina, for which I have had various treatments from the best doctors in the community where I happened to be living. However, I still have the discharge, which according to doctors, is keeping me from becoming pregnant. These physicians all say that I have a cyst on my womb or ovary. Some say I should soon have an operation, or I will have a cancer; others say it is not in a dangerous stage at all. This condition keeps me anemic with a low metabolism, although I look quite healthy. I appreciate your giving me a reading at the appointed time, as I know you are quite busy.”
B5. 6/44 Letter: “I am looking forward to my appointment with you Saturday afternoon, June 17. So far as I know now, nothing shall prevent me from being there…”
