This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Capt. [5272], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called [5272].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records we would magnify the virtues; we would minimize the faults. Not that the entity may not allow the faults and failures to be builded in such a way and manner as to give them power within self, but there are so many virtues, so many abilities that the entity may apply in self that if there is not the unfoldment or the great success in this experience physically, mentally and spiritually, it is because of the entity’s choosing to do wrong.

4. There are those activities in the experience of the entity fitting it especially as in relationships to many others. These should be especially in keeping with the situations which are and will arise in the experience in the present periods.

5. For the entity by nature is a good linguist and thus it should study language, as an interpreter for large cooperations in various portions of the land, or acting in the capacity as an interpreter in the established relationships-offices, or such relations between countries, or as a representative of large commercial interests in these relations.

6. But forget not who is thy keeper and what is the source of life, what is the source of help. All thy help, all the good that may come to thee can only come from the Creative Forces of God.

7. Then quit yourselves like a man. Know ye are capable with His help, not of thyself alone, but that because of thy activities ye have merited such. Use it, don’t abuse it! But give the credit to Him who is the giver of all good and perfect gifts.

8. Astrologically, little of these have a part in the experience, save that as in Mars, and Venus. The activity, the sincerity the manner in which the entity may use its abilities in such measures as to impress either for good or for bad, those whom it would first help or seek to destroy. Use it, don’t abuse it!

9. As to the experiences in the earth, we find as these, while not all, offer the activities as the pattern:

10. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity when there were those agreements made between the peoples of the land where the entity, with the other forefathers, settled. The entity was ever considered as the one who would act as the “go between” with the natives of the land. Thus a conversationalist, thus a linguist, in the name then Georgia Penn.

11. In the experience the entity gained much in commercial activities, in language in the activities in which relationships kept peace, quiet, harmony and ever as helpful experience did the entity use its abilities.

12. Thus may it apply it in the present to the advantage, as well as in its association with its personal companion who may apply self in those directions also.

13. Before that we find the entity was in the activities in the Roman land, when there was the choosing of the individuals who were to be representatives of those in authority in other lands. The entity was then in the name of Filos and was active in what is now the northern portion of Africa. In those areas which have been the more recently overrun by various groups, the entity was then a helper to the natives in establishing and keeping better relationships, not by oppression, but by working with them.

14. So may the lessons of the experiences be today. So the activities in lands where the entity may have been active will be helpful for the entity.

15. Before that the we find the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were the establishings of environs between the land of Saad and the Gobi land and the city of gold or in Indo-China land.

16. The entity acted in the capacity as the representative from the Egyptian land, prepared through the offices of the Temple Beautiful, and the Temple of Sacrifice.

17. As to the abilities of the entity, then, that to which it may attain and how:

19. In truth, in sincerity, in the word of truth or of the Lord, in relationships to other lands and the better in the interpretation of languages as a linguist.

22. (Q) What specific capacity as a linguist should I enter? (A) As an interpreter in the various activities, whether as a consulate service or commercial, either of these.

23. (Q) What geographic location would be best? (A) As indicated, the southern portions of Europe or in North Africa.

24. (Q) What inhibitions, if any, are present? (A) The tendency to spend more than ye earn. Be mindful of this!

25. (Q) Can you suggest any person or organization that I should contact? (A) This should begin by studying languages and whatever groups or whatever manners. The best way is to study them by radio or phonograph.

26. (Q) In what way will my wife be able to contribute? (A) As the wife was the daughter in the experience before this, she may contribute much, dependent upon the unity of the activity.

Central Standard Time he looked at his watch and knew that you were beginning the readings then… My husband and I had discussed the likelihood of our having been quite closely related in another life, perhaps as man and wife. It might be that our thoughts in this connection were instrumental in leading you to tell us that I was the daughter in my previous experience.” [See 5272-1, Par. 26-A.]

R2. 2/5/45 Wife [5271]‘s report: “My husband [5272] is now a Captain in the Army but we feel that after the war is over he may be able to pursue a career along the lines suggested…we have bought a phonographic Spanish course… Also we are making inquiry concerning what type of governmental education may be available to him for a government position in the consulate service.”

Gentlemen:

On June 17, 1944, Edgar Cayce gave Readings Nos. 5272-1 for myself and my wife, 5271-1.

Then, as now, we greatly value these Readings. And again we write for assistance. Is it possible that you have taken from the Readings for persons suffering from arthritis certain specific treatments for alleviation or cure? I would be more than happy to pay whatever fee you would ask for this information. I am personally afflicted and would be most appreciative of whatever you could do to help me. I hope to hear from you.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Under date of June 17, 1944, I was given Psychic Reading 5272-1 by Edgar Cayce.

I am writing to you with the hope that you might be able to go over my reading and give me your interpretation of what was meant that I should do.

On page #3, the last paragraph before the questions [Par. 22] reads:

“Prepare self. Don’t lose the opportunity. Don’t miss the ship!!”

Yet I am at a a loss to know how to “prepare self.” I have given much thought to the answer to question 2 [Par. 24-A]: “As indicated, the southern portions of Europe or in North Africa.” But a study of a map indicates the Romance languages, Greek, Albanian, Cretan, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Arabian, Tunisian, Libyan, and many more languages, would be spoken in this area. And since all of these can be studied “by radio or phonograph,” with what one should I start?

On page #1, in the first paragraph [Par. 2], Edgar Cayce says, ”…If there is not the unfoldment or the great success in this experience physically, mentally and spiritually, it is because of the entity’s choosing to do wrong.” I am really sincerely interested in “choosing to do right” - but I seem to need even more help than this reading has given me.

It is my hope that you can give me an interpretation of this reading, and I would be happy to pay any fee which may be involved.

R7. 12/16/63 GDT’s memo: Atomidine has been taken off the market except for external use. It can be secured from a few places but is not widely distributed. We obtain it from Meredith Drug Co., 17th St., Va. Beach, Va., $1 bottle plus postage. However, you should not take it internally except upon advice of your physician. We are correcting the outdated information in the Arthritis load file. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Mr. [5272] …, New Mexico

Dear Mr. [5272]

I have your inquiry of December 6th, and I have just finished going over your reading which has now been indexed and is upstairs in the library under a number, of course, and I had to get your correct number to be able to find the reading.

I think we can certainly say that the reading was specific about your talents and abilities. Let me just give you a quick rundown on some of the points I picked up, and then I think this will answer your questions.

In the very first section of your reading, the first paragraph, he stresses the fact that you have a great many talents and abilities, and that in this life it is a matter of making up your mind, using your willpower to determine the direction in which you wish to go. The reading goes on a bit later to indicate that there is very little strong astrological influence in your life. This is generally true where the will has been used to direct the activities.

Next he goes into three different incarnations - one in Pennsylvania, then in Africa, and then in Ancient Egypt. In each of these you apparently acted as a representative or go-between and helped bring people together. In the second incarnation he mentioned where you were a Roman Filos you must have done a good job in helping the natives as well as representing your government. In the Egyptian incarnation you were a representative from Egypt to India and the then inhabited area of the Gobi desert.

Of course, it is hard to determine from your point of view just how true all of this information is. It would be easy enough for anyone to make up a lot of incarnations and tell you as Edgar Cayce does that you were successful in each of these places as a representative, as a person who could bring people together and help work out their problems. It is interesting, of course, to note that he has traced through a particular type of vocation for you in all three of these lives. You certainly may safely assume that he is not giving you all of your incarnations, but just those that focus on the type of work you can best perform in this experience in this present life. He did mention in passing that you were associated with your wife evidently in the early American or Pennsylvania period.

The reading is very specific, as I see it, about what you should do. It is a matter of learning languages. How good are you at languages? Have you really tackled this and made a serious study of languages which might be used to help you get jobs with large corporations like the American Express, or get into work as an interpreter with some of the large oil companies? Edgar Cayce goes on, of course, in this reading to suggest that Northern Africa or lower part of Europe would be a good spot for this. Spanish, Italian, French - all of these would certainly be good languages to start with. I note from reports on your reading that you had bought a victrola or something to start learning languages. How far did you go with it, and also did you plan to use some of your government education money to study languages? Now besides the oil companies, of course, there are large air lines, and, as I mentioned previously, the American Express. All these quite beyond our own State Department work or business representatives for large firms. Once you have the languages jobs with such companies are naturally much easier to get, and according to Edgar Cayce you have innate, perhaps covered up, but nevertheless real ability to learn languages.

I would be interested in knowing what you did with the reading immediately after the war. Whether you did go into the study of languages and what progress you made.
