This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self, Miss [5300], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5300].

3. These disturbances, as we find, are the combination of many disorders. Some of these are partially produced by the manner in which the body has been treated during periods when operative measures were necessary, especially mastoid, when certain nerves, and the energies supplied through these divert that assimilated, designing to stimulate the activities through the neck and head and for the supplying of superficial circulation about ears, face, and thus the uncomfortable feelings which appear at point of chin, at lip, under the chin, side of head, as well as this rash or the accumulations in superficial circulation of forces which should have been eliminated, forming into blotches or very small moles in superficial portions of the skin, forming in accumulations.

4. And thus the deflection has caused this about the middle portion of the body, where these should be in part either eliminated or directed in the lymph flow in parts of the body.

5. Some aid may be indicated if there will be used a Castor Oil massage; messy, very messy, but massage all that can be massaged into the body, at least once a week, especially around the middle portion, around the diaphragm area, over the abdomen, parts of the feet, along the back, all that the body can absorb.

6. Massage for thirty minutes, at least, then rest for twenty minutes before the superfluous is sponged off with soda water. This would be about a heaping teaspoonful of soda in a gallon of water to sponge off the body with.

7. Do use the low electrical treatments as from the short-wave or radio-wave. This should be at the area of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsal and to the 3rd cervical. This should be only about three amperes in strength and not used more than ten minutes.

8. Then the diets: Stay to those things which are thoroughly cleansing. Do use through the season when obtainable, and obtain it for the full season in the various territories where it may be obtained, a great deal of poke salad. In preparing this, put it in water, say all that can be put in a half gallon container in a gallon of water. Let it come to a boil, then put in a colander and strain off. This water will be green, very green. Then put in fresh water and cook. This will aid in purifying the system. This would be good for anybody. This especially early in the spring, but for this body it should be kept more than in the spring, but it changes as it comes through various portions of the country from Georgia to Manitoba - that’s Canada.

9. As to other activities: There should not be an over-exercising of the body. Do have Peanut Oil massages along the spine and these will aid the body.

10. It’s aged for building new cellular forces in the glands that have been upset but these, if followed, will be helpful for the body.

11. Do that.

13. (Q) What should be done for the cough? (A) You eat the poke and you’ll be afraid to cough!

14. (Q) What about the heart condition? (A) The messages, especially in the areas indicated with the Peanut Oil, will aid the heart condition the more.

15. (Q) Does any vitamin, especially B-1 complex, aggravate the skin condition? (A) No. This is from the glands, portions of thyroid, those especially about the face and the mastoid areas.

Do as indicated and we will bring the better conditions for the body.

R1. 7/4/44 Letter: “The time [appointed for the reading] I spent alone in my room, with a strong feeling of assurance that you would be successful in your effort. Nothing unusual happened, except a feeling of weight in my arms, and then in my body, which seemed to pass at 4:20 P.M… I started at once to arrange the procuring of remedies suggested…no one so far seems to know anything about the poke… I’m inquiring about a doctor or osteopath who may have the equipment for the electrical treatments… You spoke of mastoid. I have not had this, but had abscessed ear (left) and abscessed teeth and quinsy, sore throat, from the age of six. Tonsils were removed in 1924 and I’ve not had any headaches since. I’ve not had any pain on lip, chin or neck, though sometimes a shooting pain at left of back of head. Bad tonsil was also on this side. You have exactly described the rash condition, and I welcome the help suggested. If it is just kept from spreading, that will be appreciated.”

B1. 1/14/44 Letter: “This is a statement of my condition for which over a period of 20 years I have had as many doctors and specialists, but not one has found either a cause or a cure. I have been in seven different cities and each doctor has been given enough time to either give up the case voluntarily or I have realized there was not any sign of improvement and have stopped.

“Since 1923 I have had a violent uncontrollable cough. It seemed to be caused by bad tonsils. In the spring of 1924 I had tonsils removed and all doctors have said it was a very successful operation. At that same time - 1924 - I had, or rather went through, an emotional crisis in which there was neither understanding nor sympathy on the part of my family. From 1923 to 1943 I have had some of the best specialists and medical doctors in the country, also three osteopaths, one chiropractor and one psychiatrist. I’ve had nose burned out, taste buds cut off of back of tongue, x-ray of throat and chest and back, blood tests and shots for allergy, also many prescriptions filled for a cough. At present I am taking a cough prescription twice a day which alleviates the coughing but does not cure - have taken this since March 4, 1943. No doctor has been sure of the cause but most have agreed that the emotional crisis might have aggravated the tendency to cough at that time.

“A more urgent condition, since it seems at present to be spreading, since 1938 brown, rough spots like sandpaper have appeared on my abdomen, hips and waistline on the skin. In 1938 I saw a dermatologist, a Harvard man, who suggested no treatment unless they seemed to change in nature. Since last spring some of the spots have changed to what look like moles, a raised, coarse, rough surface, darker in color. There is much itching and the spots are spreading above and below waistline and up in the back. I am a long distance from this dermatologist and know of no other near. Will you please include this condition in your reading?”
