This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of July, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [5332], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Born October 3, 1885, in Indiana County, Byer Farm, 4 miles west of Hillsdale, Penna. Time of Reading Set bet. 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. Wash., D.C.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life, also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we are given the records here of that entity now known as or called, [5332].

3. In analyzing same there is much to be considered and here the entity is seeking much that it doesn’t expect, doesn’t give full credence in, and yet know that within self ye are an individual entity, a universe within self, with all the potential powers and faculties of the divine, as well as the hellish. And these ye may manifest through thy own will.

4. The entity must find in self, if it would accomplish more, the ability to open the hand to give out; and in the giving out may ye receive. For that which is of the spiritual, in giving ye receive. For it is as of love, of friendship, of those which are ever Creative; they grow within themselves by doing, and when it becomes as something it would close away from others, it becomes as something that would deteriorate within its own self.

5. Thus the entity is a capable individual, one given to scientific analysis, scientific study, the reasons for same; but the advancements, if the entity would find same, must be by giving.

6. Oft the entity listens; yes, too good a listener for its own good. For as the entity listens, it may oft turn the conversation into channels which would be much more inspiring and much more helpful, but because of that little streak of selfishness, it refrains and thus oft loses opportunities. There are these influences the body should analyze and find: there is the body-physical, there is the body-mental and there is the body-spiritual. The spirituality, then, of self is expressed in the individuality of the entity and this is at times indicated. As has just been given, know what thy ideal is spiritually, mentally, materially. And then go about to practice same. For to know to do good, and to do it not, it is sin to that soul; and to know the manner in which ye may help others and refrain, it is hellish in thine own self, creating conditions which must be antagonistic in thine own experience with others. It is the law of grace and the law of recompense, the law of love.

7. Seek, then, first the Lord while He may be found and all others of the material, of the mental will be added in their proper place, their proper relationships.

8. As to the appearances of the entity in the earth, these have been quite varied. While all will not be undertaken here, these may indicate the pattern:

9. Before this we find the entity was in the land during the campaign in portions of Pennsylvania, during the Revolution. The entity was then in the name of Walter Hanson, and undertook the supplying of food during some of the most strenuous periods, being helpful in the aid for the ill, for those who should be clothed better of its own people. Thus the entity gained and has that which is innate, as of the thought of the fellow man and yet its selfish nature intervenes at times.

10. In the experience the entity gained and yet there is ever before thee good and evil, life and death, choose thou today.

11. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those periods of the spreading of the Roman rule. The entity was among those who were of the Alexandrian land where there was the setting of groups to oversee, to supervise for benefits of the Roman empire.

12. The entity was then in the name of Romanus, but of that land of the Alexandrians, but making peace to gain wherewithal that there might be better means for obtaining the material desires of the entity in the experience. He reckoned well in some; not so well in others. The doubts and the fears oft arise from these experiences in dealing with national and international conditions.

13. In the analyzing with those activities we will find, as given, the scientific or the means or the basis from which things arise is of most interest to the entity. Keep this well but let not that selfish streak predominate, as indicated in that experience in the North African land.

14. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those activities in the Temple of Sacrifice, where there was the adding of things and the taking away of others to bring activities in the experiences of individuals.

15. Thus the interest in chemical forces, as well as the elements of the earth, the elements of the air and the water, all were parts of the entity’s study, in the name Cheathelenuet.

16. In the experience there was wisdom but in the use of it came questions.

17. In the present there is wisdom. Understand to temper it with that which prompted the Master to give Himself for others.

19. (Q) Did I live a former life on Atlantis and have to do with Areal Navigation by levitational methods? (A) In former Atlantean experience the entity aided in the various things which brought about the destruction of Atlantis in its second experience; yes, the ruling forces with the radiation from the stones were parts of the entity’s experience.

20. (Q) How can I proceed to render similar service when the war is over? (A) In the activities which have been indicated, don’t become selfish! Study to show thyself approved. Direct thy ways in the ways of the Lord; these are the more perfect ways. And then the application of these may bring into the experience the interpreting of many influences and things which may be helpful for the fellow man.

21. (Q) Is this what is known as cosmic power, known then as the “night side of nature”? (A) Known then as the realms from the light.

22. (Q) How can it be applied to Aluminum? (A) Is this correct in asking? Is this not selfish? When ye have attained to the understanding “For others Lord,” we will help.

R1. 4/7/49 Questionnaire submitted by GD re his life reading, and answered 4/26/49, as follows:

Q-1. Is it true that you have following qualifications or characteristics? Give examples or details in answering: a. Given to scientific analysis-study-reasoning? b. A good listener? c. Holding back from giving out the truth you know? d. Selfish streak (I suppose this means tendency to weigh all conditions as they relate to yourself, which is a common weakness in all of us)? e. Doubts and fears as to national-international conditions? A-1. a. Yes, I simply can’t pass a machine or electrical device until I see how it works.

One example as to (a). In early life I had gotten practically no education, and none at all so far as mechanical or electrical matters were concerned; but when 17 years of age, and had never ridden in or even touched an automobile I observed a new one, that would not run, never had run for more than a block, even though the best mechanics from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia had been working on it off and on for more than two years. It had cost 3,500.00, was owned by the banker of the town. That was 1903 and this was the first and only automobile I had ever seen. The fact that no good mechanic could get it to run was the talk of the town as well as the whole community. I was naturally awfully anxious to see the thing run. After the city mechanics left for the last time, and it stopped again after running but a block, I told the Banker I just "knew" that I could make it run, when he said "I, too, know that you can" (with, I assume, his tongue in his cheek) for he quickly followed, "so I'll just sell it to you for 500.00, you have 200.00 in my bank and I'll loan you the other 300.00” I said “Sold” and went to the bank to sign the note. I fixed the auto in ten minutes and it ran perfectly for five years. The secret? the make-and-brake cam was on with the wrong side out. The magneto was being driven left-handed, while the cam was on for one driven right-handed. How or why I knew this I do not know, but I did, and by the town people it was considered a miracle, or an awful stroke of luck; but now I see it was neither, but subconsciousness giving me hunches, that would have been covered too deep to have moved me, had I gotten a college education.

I could give hundred of similar examples, and believe it or not I now believe that our present day college education ruins more boys than it helps. That is perhaps a statement that will be considered brash by our educated people, but it is a fact that our education of today is so materialistic, and we have so overdone the qualification from “accredited colleges” that we have developed something worse than ignorance; i.e. egotism. Aspiration has been crucified.

Too often a young man leaving college THINKS “I am the all in all.” Then the spiritual side of life, the real side, is covered so deep that there will be no inspiration in this incarnation. Then spiritually he will not advance, but retard and have to reincarnate again. Poor victim of our “system”. Science and religion should not have gotten that divorce. It resulted in their children becoming wayward. Science and religion are but parts of the same thing - Life, Reality, Spirituality, - or God if you prefer. b. Yes, must know the exact point of view of the other. Handling labor troubles. c. I now fear so, but formerly considered it proper to avoid ridicule and argument. That was, and still to some extent due to the scriptural admonition “Not to cast pearls before swine”. But perhaps, in view of what was said, I have gone too far with it. My situation heretofore had made it difficult to avoid this, but hope that it will change sometime now soon. d. I never noticed this until the reading. What I thought as desire for self advancement was perhaps selfishness. Note the last question at reading. Though honest, I fell for the Capitalistic “Rugged individualism” of looking out for my own interests first. Selfish? Perhaps so. e. Have always paid more attention to international matters than local or state. On the day of Munich when the radio said Chamberlain had signed, I just raved and said it would cause 15 years or more of complete chaos. He said it was “peace in our time” but to me that was but a smoke screen to keep the people from seeing the truth of what they were doing. By “they” I meant the International Bankers, of whom both Hitler and Chamberlain were but servants. We are well along with the “chaos” but more and worse to come.

Q-2. Have you been enabled to have a broader, more universal outlook and application as a result of your life reading? A-2. Yes. I once was very patriotic. I see now that too is just selfishness. “Nationalism”.

Q-3. In what other specific ways has the information in your reading proven helpful? A-3. Proof of the Astral records of former lives. The continuity of life after life, and the karma effect. When I read the recorded history of my former lives I can see how my present traits were thereby created. A similarity.

Q-4. What was your reaction to the specific incarnations mentioned? Explain any affinity (or lack of it) for any of the countries named? A-4. My former experience with the Roman Empire gives me a subconscious dislike for anything imperialistic. And I think too, the Roman Church, anything where rule is imposed, be it Church, military, or economic. The law of free will is as immutable as the law of gravity. Affinity for Penna., where I did more good.

Q-5. Are you especially interested in the chemical forces of the earth-air-fire-water? In what ways? A-5. Yes. Always have been, but never knew why until my reading. Have always felt and still do, that cosmic power can be condensed by use of crystals of proper attunement. Am a licensed Pilot. Taught myself to fly. “air-fire-water”

Q-6. What do you think are the major influences from your Atlantean sojourn in connection with “the radiation from stones”? What are your interests in this direction? or, rather, lack of interest? A-6. At that time I did many things with this. From correcting criminal tendencies in humans, to aerial navigation by levitational means. All kinds of power. Humanity is not yet ready for any other these things. He would destroy humanity in his attempt to force his will upon others by use of such awful power. Even Atomic energy is more than he knows how to handle at the present time.

Q-7. Would you say that there is special significance to the fact that you now live on a street with the same name of the State of the U.S. in which you last incarnated? A-7. I never thought of that. Nor can I see any now. Isn’t it just a “coincidence”?
