This Psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of July, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [5363], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Calif.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body: [5363].

3. As we find, there are disturbances and these have been of long standing. As we find, the greater trouble remains or consists in the conditions where there are lesions around the capsule of the kidneys themselves. These, at times, cause a great distress and these, while they have not upset the activities of the kidneys, owing to the nature of the adhesions, these have come originally from an injury, this in many years back when there was a lack or a strain over the area of the 8th and 9th dorsal. These are lateral lesions.

4. These, to be sure, have at times affected the circulation and these have tended to make irregular the heart’s activity, at others they have affected the circulation through the lungs.

5. In making for helpful forces there should be first the applications for easing the pain. We would first combine Laudanum and aconite, one portion of laudanum to nine portions of aconite. Paint the areas with this and then apply, not hot, but warm salt, heavy salt heated, so as to produce or to dry these properties in same. Repeat this about twice a week for six weeks.

6. Then have the short-wave treatments, and these we would have about once a week.

7. Then set up drainage through the osteopathic manipulations. These would bring the greater relief. These may be necessary for some time, owing to the long length of time, but these will set up eliminations so as to ease and relieve and eventually remove those disturbances there. Do that.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) What is causing the headaches which occur? (A) These are the sources of the headaches.

10. (Q) Aching in back of neck? (A) All of those which reflex to the sympathetic nervous system. For as the body finds when it gets on its feet usually it wears off. This is because of equalizing the circulation.

After we have had about two or three courses of this treatments, it would be well that there be used the Radio-Active Appliance to equalize the circulation. Don’t begin with this but first have at least three series of the treatments and about four weeks apart. Then use the Radio-Active Appliance as an equalizer for nerve energies and blood supply.

11. (Q) Is the smoking of a pack of cigarettes per day, which I have been doing for years, injurious to my eyesight, hearing, or in any other way to my health? (A) This has not been other than just at times a contributory cause.

12. (Q) Any spiritual advice? (A) Know that all healing and that of constructive thinking lies within the realm of the entity’s own consciousness itself. It is that which is applied within self that brings helpful forces to the body conditions, constructively.

R1. 3/22/45 Letter: “I had a little difficulty in getting the proper assistance in the beginning and later you were ill and I have been waiting and believing I would have a more favorable report to make. Through the months from the time of the appointment and on the day and the hour of the reading, I was in sincere prayerful meditation. I faithfully followed the six weeks applications of the laudanum and aconite and then started in on the osteopathic treatments. I have taken two treatments a week and with one of these treatments the doctor has given me the short-wave electrical treatment and he has always been very thorough in his massaging of the kidneys. I have taken the above treatments from 9/1/44 to 3/1/45, a period of 5 months. That dull, deep aching, in the small of my back has not been eased (even a little) and now I am at a Loss as to what to do next. My doctor’s name is W. W. Adams, D.O., Anaheim, Calif.”

R2. 1/22/48 Report requested from him and from the osteopath, asking specifically if the adjustments were being made in the 8th and 9th dorsal which lateral lesion were given as the cause of other ailments.

R3. 5/4/48 Letter: “I did carry out the instructions as per the reading to almost complete detail. The only thing I omitted was the Radio-Active Appliance - everything else in complete detail for several months. Dr. W. W. Adamas, an osteopath, was my doctor and he was in complete accord with the instructions of the reading and I went to him 2-3 times a week. During the past 2 years I have had x-rays taken of my back and also the back of my neck and the pictures show a definite case of arthritis, and for 8 months I went under the care of Dr. E. F. Cain, (a medical doctor of this town); he gave up weekly treatments, as he said he was doing me no good. I still have headaches and was recently to Dr. Wertz, a chiropractor; the only good he accomplished was perhaps his putting me on a diet, but in general I can say that his treatments were of no material benefit… Since my contact with Mr. Cayce I have done more constructive thinking than I have in perhaps all my life. I was, and am, a great believer in Mr. Cayce and just why I did not get better results I do not know and frankly I do not blame anyone - unless it would be myself.”

B1. 7/2/44 [5363]‘s letter: “For the past 44 years, or since I was 18, I have had a deep, dull, constant aching in or near the 5th lumbar or the sacroiliac. I have been to medical doctors, osteopaths and have had many chiropractic adjustments and I have never received any material benefit… I have read and re-read many times the book, A Search For God, and I am trying very hard to get myself in attunement with God.” Questions submitted: 1. What can be done to relieve aching in small of back, near the lumbar or sacroiliac, which is my principal trouble? 2. What is causing and what should be done for the headaches which occur at 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning, for the past few years, gradually disappearing when I have been up 2 or 3 hours? 3. Constant aching in back of neck? This has been occurring for the past 3 years, and a doctor told me it is a nervous fatigue. 4.
