This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of July, 1944, in accordance with request made by the brother - Mr. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet and the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have those conditions about the body. As we find, while these are very serious and there is a good deal of temperature, there is a great destruction of white blood or the leucocytes and red blood owing to the infection through the lung, and there are cavities in both, yet, as we find, if there would be this application it would be necessary to attempt operative measures, and the body would respond:

3. Begin first with the preparation of the charred oak keg, at least a gallon and a half or two gallons. Do prepare the vents in same and put apple brandy in the keg to inhale, and keep where evaporation would be rather fast; that is, keep this warm but keep corked tightly. Do not in the beginning attempt to inhale too much, too often, or too deep, but do take one or two whiffs.

4. Do have also a bottle prepared with these properties as an inhalant for the nasal passages, else we may drive infections through other areas. Do use in this and making vents so that this may be inhaled in the nostril, just the gases in the solutions. Put in four ounces of grain alcohol, and this at least in six ounce container with two vents in same, add these in the order named:

Oil of Eucalyptus…20 drops, Rectified Oil of Turp…5 drops, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…20 drops, Tolu in Solution…20 drops.

Shake this and inhale once or twice a day deep in the nostril.

5. Also prepare Calcios for the body. Take this in the quantity which may be spread on a whole wheat wafer once a day and preferably when ready to retire.

6. Do also take Acigest, stir a teaspoonful in a glass of raw milk and this would be taken preferably at the evening meal.

7. Do add liver, this just broiled, not too done, also beef juice.

8. Yogurt should be through the intestinal tract to prevent infections through the area. Be persistent, be consistent, and we will help the body.

9. We would give further instructions in ten weeks.

B1. 3/27/44 Letter from brother: “She has been for nearly the past 2 years stricken with pulmonary tuberculosis and her condition has not improved greatly.”

B2. 5/26/44 “Her condition is in a very serious way, having tuberculosis in both lungs…doctors confirm the conviction made 8 months ago that she will require a series of serious thorical operations to save her life, and that she must undergo these starting not later than this September. A few months ago the general condition of her lungs was not as serious; she had commenced treatment on the less infected side. However, her most recent x-ray showed a grave and serious downward trend. As a result, it became necessary to abandon all further treatments. These are cold and clear facts and we shudder to think of the operations that she will have to undergo for one cannot be certain of their outcome. She has been confined to bed for exactly 2 years now, and she has not had any permission to get out for any exercise. The good the rest has given her had long reached its usefulness. We always wondered what her chances of recovery would be compared to most other similar cases which require at least 5 months of walking exercise before such operations. What depresses us still further is the fact that the surgeons do not put forth odds strongly in her favor. We have found that our only course at present is prayer…and to you, for we firmly believe that you may alter the present condition.”

1. What doctor or institution in Montreal would undertake the administer the treatments suggested? 2. How shall I obtain the necessary medicines, if suggested, or who would obtain them for me? 3. May the thorical-plasty operations be carried out? 4. Should a cavity drainage be carried out? [Hers is a bilateral case. Also there’s the possibility of operations on both sides before which she may have to have the Minaldi treatment of cavity drainage.]
