This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of May, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [5422].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - [5422]. This we have had before. [No copy of an earlier reading.] Now, we find the body not so well in the physical forces as when last we had same here. There has been the accentuation of many of the troubles as disturbed the body, and some of these have become malignant in their action through the system, and lacerations, and the conditions produced by same have taken on a rather serious aspect, for the disturbances as are seen throughout are produced by the infectious condition becoming such that the condition in itself is able to take from the system that which builds or supplies within itself destructive tissue to life, to the vitality of the system, and is gradually taking on that aspect of where it becomes the system to add those forces as will prevent such inroads, or there will be the greater distresses in the physical conditions.

2. To meet the needs at the present time, we would NOT operate for those ulcerations, for these have taken such a turn as coagulation would NOT take place properly in system, and would constantly be a drain; but rather would we take those vibrations for same we will scatter in a manner, adding to the system those of that property or properties as will increase the eliminations, and by constantly changing these, assist the body and prevent the inroads of the destructive reaction in system.

3. We, then, would use that of the Double X Radium Appliance, wearing same across the small of the back for at least five hours each day. Then, when lying on the back, we would lay same next to the body, across the right and lower portion of the abdomen.

4. We would also prepare, in capsules, these properties to be taken internally, and these should be taken not oftener than every other day. This be the proportions and the conditions in each capsule:

Oil of Eucalyptol…1 minim, Rectified Oil of Turp…1 minim, Canadian Balsam…1 minim, Bromide Potassium… 1/2 gram, Bromide of Soda…1/2 grain.

We would not prepare more than four of such capsules at a time, unless they are kept in a very cool place, or about a refrigerator - then there may be half a dozen or a dozen prepared.

5. Do this, and then in twenty to thirty days we would give further suggestions, provided these respond, or the system responds to these conditions as given same. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) Why do I have fainting like spells and stay so weak? (A) The reduction of the vitality by the ulcerations and lacerations in the system - duodenum, edge of liver, and lower portion of the intestines themselves.

7. (Q) What cause such terrible suffering in my right side and left back with nausea all the time? (A) The system attempting to adjust itself from and of the conditions as are existent there. So much SORENESS is from the condition where the plethora in tissue itself has so engorged the system, and these properties and these vibrations as are given for the body are to meet the needs of these, reducing this condition.

8. (Q) Is there any trouble with the heart? Gall bladder or liver? Any signs of cancer in the body? (A) The condition is rather of the tendency toward that of the conditions that destroy tissue in themselves. The heart not so much involved as the circulation, or the cutting off from the system that of the circulation between the liver or the whole hepatic circulation AND heart, and the depletion of the blood vitality, causes more of the heart’s reaction than of other conditions. That of the tendency towards that of cancerous reaction is apparent in and about the lower portion of the liver, but more in the intestines themselves, or lower portion of the duodenum.

9. (Q) What causes the stomach to act as it does towards food? What must I do to be able to eat? (A) Do these things as has been GIVEN. The natural reaction from the condition in the stomach is that of repulsion to food, or for the gastric juices of the stomach to act UPON food. Hence the inactivity of digestive forces. Well that all the foods that are taken are of such a nature that they are EASILY, or are practically pre-digested foods; yet these must be of the nature that will be blood and nerve building - such as we would have in foods that are easily digested.

Juices of meats - no meats whatsoever! Juices from vegetable that are both the acid and non-acid reaction, well divided between those of the globular and of the root nature, as well as of those that are iron and nerve building - the JUICES of these are much better for the body than those of the properties or BODY of these themselves. Well that these be taken often, than too much at a time, and of the food values for the system - those be taken much like medicine would be for the body.

10. (Q) What causes the secretions to seem to stop at times in my body, especially in the mouth? (A) The attempting of the system to use all of the vital forces in the secretion of the system to overcome or MEET the needs of that existent in the stomach, or lower portion, and intestines.

11. (Q) What causes so much gas in my stomach? (A) Same reactions. Do these as we have outlined, and then in twenty to thirty days we will give the changes as are, or have come about. These should react with the body in a PROPER manner to assist in ELIMINATING - provided eliminations are kept up. Well, with the taking of these properties, that occasionally oil and olive oil enemas be used to eliminate from the lower intestines, and use it in half and half of white oil and olive oil - taking possibly a pint as an enema. This should be at least once each week. We are through with this reading.

R1. 6/24/29 Letter: “Many thanks for the interest you and the Cayce Hospital have taken in my case. I assure you it is appreciated in every sense of the word. I regret to say my improvement is very slow. I have been able to follow out most of the reading, but as for the double x radium pad I haven’t yet bought that. I wrote immediately for literature and particulars and all they sent me were a few testimonials telling about high blood pressure, etc., and a blank to fill out for $30.00. I wanted to see a picture and understand just what it was before I bought, especially after one man spoke of filling it with sunshine. You spoke of my circulation being so poor, so I have been taking treatments from a neuropath hoping she would improve that condition. I assure you I will not give up trying to be myself again. If I do not improve in the near future will get you to give me another reading.

R2. 3/20/30 Letter: ”…Please find enclosed a check for $10.00. May I ask that you give me another reading at your earliest convenience. I am so uneasy about my side and nausea that I have all the time. Please go into details about this…”

B2. 5/5/29 Letter: “I feel that I am at my ‘row’s end’ and unless you can come to my rescue in this reading, do not know what will become of me. The doctors here have made up their minds to operate and I do not feel that I can go through with such an ordeal, if there is any other salvation. I have lost considerable weight lately and am daily losing ground.
