This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of March, 1930, in accordance with request made by his mother, Mrs. […].

Time of Reading 12:00 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestions)

1. EC: Yes - Yes - we have the body here. Now, we find conditions entirely different from that as we have had here before. In the corrections as have been made, there is seen that the exterior portion of the bone itself, in the hip, has become involved in the condition. This from that as was first given as that reaction through the prenatal effects seen in system.

2. Will we apply at present small quantities - one-eighth grain - of the medicated ash, keeping the body quiet, and use ALTERNATELY the ULTRA-violet and the Infra Red ray, using the ultra-violet every OTHER day, the Infra Red ONCE each week - we will equalize these conditions.

3. Well that there be given also within the system those properties as will keep quiet the nerve reactions, so that the body does NOT IRRITATE itself by worry. This a developing child, but these must be kept quiet until there is sufficient reaction, would we aid the body.

4. Keep the manipulations for the distributions through the system, and build up the general VITALITY of the body. Do that. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) How often should the ash be given? (A) Once each day, preferably in the evenings.

6. (Q) Would you advise applying a cast? (A) Not if the body keeps quiet, at present - for the activities then would be hindered, insomuch that unless segregation is made there would be stiffness resulting in the end of the spine.

7. (Q) How often manipulations? (A) At least once each day - the general massage over the whole system, and using some MOVEMENTS in the pelvic organs. We are through with this reading.

R1. 3/9/30 [5428]‘s mother’s letter to Cayce Hospital Secretary: ”…I am returning under separate cover medicine which I received yesterday. [5428] passed away March 4th. I did not receive the emergency reading which I requested…”

R2. 3/29/30 Cayce Hospital Secretary’s letter: ”…We received your letter of March 9th, and all of us who knew [5428] were so shocked and grieved to learn of his death. He was such a bright and attractive little fellow, it seems too bad that he has passed on.

“After your letter was received, enclosing check for $10.00, I turned it over to Mr. Cayce at once. He gave the Check reading on March 3rd - which would have been too late to have done any good, it seems. The reading was mailed to you from the Hospital at the same time the medicine was sent and am very sorry if it did not reach you; however, if you have not received it, advise Mr. Edgar Cayce or Miss Gladys Davis…”

R3. 4/5/30 [5428]‘s Mother’s letter: ”…I had a letter recently from the Cayce Hospital advising there had been a reading on March 3rd for [5428], who died March 4th, and that this reading had been mailed at the same time as the medicine. I received the medicine, which I returned to the Hospital, but did not receive any reading. I was very much surprised to learn there had been a reading on March 3rd, as on that day [5428] was in a hospital in New York. I did not think you could locate the body at any place other than the above address [home address]. I am so sorry the emergency reading could not have been held a few days sooner - things might have been so very different. I am writing this letter at the request of the Secretary of the Hospital…”

R4. 4/19/30 EC’s letter to [5428]‘s mother: ”…I have yours of the 5th. It seems very, very bad that we were not able to attend to the emergency reading more promptly. Yes, it might have been quite different, had we been able - but being just mortals we are not always able to judge just what is the right thing to do. As to the reading locating [5428] at the time, these conditions we have had to come up several times. How the location is made, we do not understand. Oftentimes we have had such that failed to make the location. Oftentimes we have had them to follow it up, and when questioned give the exact location. Such conditions, such circumstances, are a part - and to be a part - of the research work at the Hospital.

“Regrets, I understand, do not change conditions. I’m only in hopes that we will be able to use this circumstance in some way to be of help to someone else in need.

“I thank you for your letter, and I appreciate how you must feel. We hope we may yet be of some service to you in some way…”

R5. 9/5/52 [5428]‘s Mother’s letter: ”…In November of 1929 I went, on the advice of my doctor, to Virginia Beach with my four year old son who was ill but no doctor seemed able to explain what was wrong. While there I had a reading for the boy. Mr. Cayce wanted me to go for three months to a doctor out west but, as I had two other small children, it was impossible for me to go. [GD’s note: EC, in talking with her while she was in Virginia Beach, might have told her that she could get the treatment followed at Still-Hildreth Osteopathic Hospital in Macon, Missouri. Otherwise, I do not know what she meant, because the reading does not refer her to any particular doctor.] In March he was operated on and four hours later he died.

“Last week a friend was telling me about a book he was reading (THERE IS A RIVER) and, as he talked, I realized it was the Edgar Cayce to whom I had gone so many years ago.

“Please let me know what to do in order to get further information on the readings. I will be so grateful…”
