This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of February, 1940, in accordance with request made by the wife - Mrs. [639], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - as we find, there are a great many changes. Some have been for improvements. Some as we find are causing a great deal of uneasiness and unpleasantness for the body at times in the present, - but many changes from those as we have had here before.

3. We find that there are acute disturbances with the prostates, that cause inflammation at times, and unpleasantness and uneasiness through the area of the bladder, as well as some disturbance with the kidneys. These necessarily make for a variation as to the respiratory system, as well as the pulsations, as well as the effects of congestion which has existed through cold throughout the body.

4. In the present, we would relax the body with Wet Heat and then have the gentle manipulations.

5. If the condition through the prostate becomes more severe, use the Elliot Appliance in reducing the inflammation; but where there has been and is the acute condition, relax first with Wet Heat and then have the gentle manipulations.

6. The use of colonics will aid in equalizing more, or in bridging better equilibrium in the blood pressure, as well as eliminating poisons that cause upsetting of the whole system by their reaction through the activity of the nerves as well as the functioning of the organs of the system as related to circulatory forces, assimilating and digestive forces.

7. Be mindful that there is not overeating, nor too much sweets especially. Have plenty of raw as well as cooked vegetables in the diet.

8. Of course, baths in hot and cold water, with the periods of the massage, will also be helpful.

9. The use of the Radio-Active Appliance will aid also in keeping the extremities, as well as the general portions of the body, more in coordinant activities in the extremes of the body.

R1. 3/5/40 Letter to EC from Wife [639]:

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

“The Reading and your letter of the 1st received. The Reading described Mr. [550]‘s general condition and feeling exactly. I should say altho we had never thought anything about being any bladder trouble, but had thought some lately there might be some kidney trouble, as he has to get up most every two hours during the night now for a week or two and sometimes oftener. It also has been several months that it seemed he just could not get the cold entirely out of his system and just before Christmas he was at home most two weeks with what the Doctor called intestinal flu. But when he was taken five weeks ago it was gas in bowels and stomach and the heart. He had to remain very still in bed - shoulders elevated and the Doctor, an M.D. physician pronounced it coronary Thrombosis.

“He started back to work yesterday and is at work from 9 o’c until 12 o’c and at home resting in the afternoons and seems to be improving each day but doesn’t gain strength very rapidly. Mr. [550] as yet has never been to my Naturepath Physician, but just as soon as he is able and strong enough to drive his own car - possibly next week will start in according to the Reading just received from you.

“The Reading seems to describe Mr. [550]‘s condition, exactly but says nothing about the heart at all. We wonder why. Do you suppose it is because the heart has so far recovered that the other conditions given were the most important at the present time and as they were improved - the heart would be all right? An X-Ray at Hospital showed the heart enlarged about (1/3) one third and the large artery about (1/2) one half, so the Doctor said. We had a splendid M.D. Physician, but he of course cannot carry out the instructions as given in Reading - so Mr. [550] will go to my Naturepath whom we consider very good for that and very willing to do it.

“I am to-day writing the “Health Home Remedies Corporation” about returning to them a Radio-Active Appliance we bought several years ago to have them check it over and bring it up to date making it in good condition to use again and will then use it with Mr. [550]. Would be glad to hear from you.”

R2. 3/8/40 Letter from EC to Mrs. [639]:

Dear Mrs. [639]:-

“Very glad to have yours of the 5th - certainly hope Mr. [550] will be feeling much better soon, my surmise from other experiences is the heart condition was a result of other troubles and with the correction of those that would clear up entirely, even the indication from the x-ray might possibly be temporary, or it might be a weakness there from the other troubles and would dissipate with the correction of same, hope you will have your Dr. get hold of him real soon - feel sure he will correct same real soon.

“There isn’t any thing that can upset every part of the system like a cold and the older we get the harder it is usually for us to work it off, we are naturally inclined to give way to our feelings, and we don’t work it off by real exercise.

“Know we will be anxious to know how each of you get along, and will appreciate your letting us hear from you.

“Thanking you and hoping to have been of some service.”

R3. 3/30/40 Letter to EC from Wife. Mrs. [639]:

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

“I am writing you regarding Mr. [550] as per your request. Generally he has improved greatly and has been at work again for two weeks.

“He went to my Naturepath physician with your reading. He examined Mr. [550] including the prostate gland and found conditions as stated in the reading. He began treating Mr. [550] at once. He goes twice a week and takes the colonic irrigation and an electrical treatment for the postrate.

“Dr. Walden knows the Elliot machine as given in reading and had one for sometime but disposed of it and purchased a short wave electrical machine which he says he found did the work just as good and better and in shorter time than the Elliott treatment and less danger to the patient. He coils the tubes attached to machine on a chair and Mr. [550] sits on it. He turns on the current and the heat penetrates clear through. To-day is his 5th treatment so can’t give a report as yet on that. I am using the wet heat as prescribed at home at night. Keeping hot wet bath towels on for 20 min. Also we will use the Radio-Active Appliance as soon as we hear from the Home Remedies Corp. We sent the one we purchased several years ago in to them to check over so we could be sure it was all right after not using it for so long.

“Mr. [550]‘s heart trouble seems to be about over. He also has so much trouble with his feet and legs aching, and can not stand on them long or walk any distance.

“I think one of the greatest things that retards the physical condition is that he has been mentally sick too. We were so quickly and so hard hit with the boom and depression and Mr. [550] being in the Real Estate business and absolutely nothing doing in business all these years that the worry over losing so much ourselves and no chance to earn a good living in a tourist town and not being able to make both ends meet very well, he just hasn’t seemed to be able to throw the worry off and still isn’t.

“He is employed in the morning from 8 to 12 o’clock keeping books for a vegetable packing concern. The afternoons at his office doing what he can, but it does not bring in sufficient. On account of his feet and legs he will not be able to be active in the real estate business any more, when it does pick up again as he has to be on the jump with that. If he could just get into something else, that would bring in the necessary amount to cover all necessary expenses, doctors, etc., I think he would soon be quite himself again. In a tourist town there are so few opportunities and for Mr. [550] in his present physical condition. We have no capital to go into any business of our own. There is absolutely no sale for the real estate we do own.

“He just doesn’t know what to do and the worry of it all is such a detriment to him.

“I notice you say in your pamphlet you enclosed “Suggestions for vocational guidance are clear and helpful.” Does that mean suggestions would be given that might help guide Mr. [550] as he needs according to the above.

“Please advise what you think about this.”

R4. 4/2/40 Letter from EC to Mrs. [639]:

Dear Mrs. [639]-

“Thanks very much for yours of the 30th, glad to hear Mr. [550] is feeling better, and hope he will keep on the improve, and feel sure he will, does he keep up the suggestions long enough to get rid of the cause of the trouble - giving the system rest to bring about proper recuperation.

“Glad the heart trouble seems to have lessened - usually such disappears when the pressure is relieved, feel sure the condition in his legs will improve as the disturbance is lessened, hope so any way, be sure and let us know won’t you?

“No doubt you are right as to attitude of mind - when we have that as worries us continually well our physical condition naturally relapses into apathy, and most any old thing can get a hold of us. Hope that too will clear up soon, but the real season for Fla. is the winter, isn’t it?

“Thank you very, very much Mrs. [639] for your letter and report, you know we rather hold and consider Mr. [550] as one of our pets while have never met him - he has and is one of the earliest ones that had help from the readings - and the 29th of last month makes 40 years since this work began - and think Mr. [550] had his first reading in 1903 [1909?] or there about.

“Let us hear again thanking you and with all good wishes to each of you.”

Hasn’t had any more trouble with that since 1910 but has had rdgs. for self [550], son and wife often since.”
