This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 14th day of August, 1924, in accordance with request made by his brother, [4283].

[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 11:30 A. M. Dayton Savings Time. …, Tenn.

  1. GC: Now you have before you the reading given by you on [5521], … Street, … Tenn., on the 4th day of August, 1924, 5:30 P.M. You will please tell me just how these preparations are to be prepared that are to be applied locally, and giving the proportions. You will also give the dosage and how often to be taken of the medicinal properties which are to be taken internally.

  2. EC: Yes, we have this reading here. We have the conditions. The lotions to be prepared are two, and should be prepared in this manner and form. First, plantain, the green variety, or that just gathered; the root, the leaves, the flower or seed of same. This should be bruised but not lose that portion that comes from bruising. Bruised in the container in which this is to be rendered in. Six ounces of the leaf, flower and root to-gether. To this add eight ounces of rain water. Reduce by simmering or boiling, with cover on same, to two ounces. Strain this through a very coarse cloth. Do not remove the particles of leaves or blossoms that remain in the solution. To this solution then add four ounces of fresh butter that has no salt, and which has been worked until the milk and water is taken from same. Let this boil until the whole quantity is reduced to three ounces. Then pour off and apply to the abrasions, with thin gauze placed over same. Let this remain for some time.

  3. The other lotion, and this will be applied to the edges only of the abrasions, the milk from the common milkweed, the weed gathered fresh with the dew on same, (This shaken of course) and the weed broken and the milk that comes from this break shall be rubbed on the edges of the abrasions. Not over the whole solution, or over the whole sores, but on the inflammed portions that are not broken. Not on tissue that is broken but over the edges that are not broken.

  4. The medicinal properties are to be taken two teaspoonsful before each meal and before retiring. Four doses each day at that time.

  5. Do that. We will bring relief for this body, [5521].
