This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce in Hopkinsville, Ky., this 26th day of November, 1910.

1. LBC: You are now asleep and will be able to tell us what we want to know. You have before you [5579], …, Wash.

2. EC: [5579], …, Wash.

3. LBC: She is before you now, you will see her.

4. EC: [5579], yes, we have her here.

5. LBC: Now I want you to go over her carefully, examine her thoroughly and tell us what is the matter with her.

6. EC: The nerve force is in a peculiar condition here. The blood supply is irregular, and to and from the stomach, into this head. We have an asthenic condition of the spleen. We have a thickening of the coat of the stomach in itself here, where the gullet empties into the stomach, up at the upper end. It has been poisoned inside and has produced here at the fifth dorsal a sort of a lesion here; more of a thickening of the nerve supply or thickening of the outer coat here on the nerve supply. We have a lesion along the spine that leads out to the fifth dorsal and produces this nauseating of the stomach; a kind of sickening at times. It comes as a sort of spasm, relaxes the whole system, the condition of the whole system and it leaves the whole system in such a relaxed condition that it produces a soreness and inflammation all through the pelvis. This is from the reflex from the connection of the sympathetics and cerebrospinal at the second lumbar. Dilates around the stomach, through the hepatic circulation and into the discharge.

7. At times she has pains through the lower part of the lungs; this is produced from reflex, from pains in the stomach. Makes it hurt up here. The nerve supply of the whole body is of high tension, wrought up. Circulation is poor, we have a quickening of the white matter of the nerve supply (we have two kinds - the white and the gray.) We have pains through here, through the mammary glands, at times, from the condition that exists here in the pelvis.

8. (Q) Was the poison in the stomach a drug? (A) It’s not in there now, it is the effect. You can get it back here. That was about three years ago. It first began here with pains here in the side, on the left side of the back; kinder [kind of] in the region of the solar plexus; kinder [kind of] above the supply here at the sixth or seventh dorsal. This produces then to the walls of the stomach a nauseating feeling, throwing off from the intestinal tract and produces a choking up of the glands here in the stomach. The throwing out to protect it here has produced a thickening of the wall and we have a soreness in the wall of the stomach itself. This is right at the upper end; not at the lower. If it had been at the lower we would have had cancer.

The stomach cleanses itself in throwing out from this side, because of the gastric juices it passes out; this throwing out the leukocytes throws it into the state we have it - the spasmodic condition of the stomach. It is not drugs. It has been a form of copper.

9. (Q) What other conditions do you find? (A) Pains in the head.

10. (Q) Any other troubles? (A) That is enough.

11. (Q) Well what treatment would you suggest to relieve these conditions now? (A) Cleanse the stomach with water, you see. Fill the stomach just as full as it will hold but it will have to be after one of the nauseating spells, if you don’t she will vomit it all up. Fill it just as full as we can hold, not too hot nor too cold; not too cold to chill, not too hot to make it sick. Enough to produce an effect into the stomach without producing a spasm of the walls. Do not use it too hot, just get the chill off. Fill it full until it will hurt to hold it. After we have done this then we will take plenty of oil, after that has worked into the system. Take Olive Oil - Sweet Oil - into the stomach and plenty of it; then as it rests, a kneading along the spine; all along in the cervical and lumbar region. Then we will have electricity, like cold water, at the fifth dorsal. Not from static, not from vibrating.

We have it here - drop this battery here in the water, with the knob on the fifth dorsal, then with the suggestion that she has had to the whole system, will move it away from here.

Fill the stomach with water first, this passes off, then we will have a kneading of the stomach here; at the pit of the stomach. Pull the sides together with the body lying down. Now set it up and get an action of the heart, not overflow it to produce congestion. Then apply this with the oil into the stomach, fill it full and this will run all this off through the intestinal tract.

We oil the system to pass this out then we have this slow electric force come in here (get DEEP) then relax with hands at the cervical and upper dorsal and it will get better. Keep this up. Then we change this, do not stop, use the water after the first time. Wait four or five days and then fill the stomach again, then use oil and this will get it off from here, you see.

The rest of the trouble we have here in the system - you see we have other troubles - of the eyes, of the head and all this languidness of the lymphatics in taking up enough of the gastric juice to supply to the rest of the system.

After we control this condition then we will have something to build on you see and she will get better.
