This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of January, 1930, in accordance with request made by self - [5580].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. [5580] and Dr. L. A. Lydic.]
Time of Reading 3:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Dayton, Ohio. (Body and enquiring mind - Questions on business associations and relations)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [5580]. This we have had before. In various phases of the business associations and relations, these we have. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Previous business experience and training considered, what line of business will I be the most successful in, and will it prove the most profitable? (A) In that of the manufacturing. We would become associated with Nickel-Alloy’s of Pittsburgh. These offer an opportunity for this body.
-
(Q) Will such offer come from one of my present business acquaintances whom I have already contacted? (A) This may be made possible THROUGH some of those already contacted. There are, to be sure, many other channels. This, as given, offers a real opportunity for the abilities of the body and the mind here, of [5580]. That’s why THIS suggested. Others may be just as good for the time. Others in their outlook may be as good for a period. THIS, as we find, the better connection - and it may be made; though it may require a little time, but these really offer the best opportunity for advancement and for the real GOOD as may be accomplished.
-
(Q) What business? (A) In the association with these peoples, as both manufacture and distribute - see?
-
(Q) In what capacity? (A) Oh, he may be made president if he would work hard enough! Don’t expect to be that at first, for this a rather valuable concern! and there are many places as the various representatives in different districts, as to distribution and as to manufacture, and in the various channels. This, of course, NOT one of the Mellon industries, but associated WITH same. Then why not be president!
-
(Q) What products? (A) There are VARIOUS products. The name implies the products!
-
(Q) Would I be wise in considering a connection with my former company, engaged in the gas pump business? (A) This is very GOOD, but there’s asked for the best! We gave the best! Of course, if it’s necessary to make connections until these are worked out, why these we WOULD do - see? in VARIOUS lines, but this may be accomplished, you see, and the field is worthy of being considered - and is something to work TO, and meet the abilities of this body. WE would do THAT!
-
(Q) Will any capital be required, if so about how much? (A) Not NECESSARY that ANY capital be required, though there ARE the channels of the manufacture - or rather of the distribution - in which this may be used. We would prefer, and we would work toward, the OTHER end - become first the representative, then the distributing representatives, then the office, and then the various channels - and in eight years he should be in the official capacity, or of the official board.
-
(Q) Is electrical refrigeration included in this field? (A) Included. A well distribution in another field may be had through that of the RADIO, and of the Western Electric, or of that as is supervised by O’Brien - which included also the NEW field of electric refrigeration; BUT, this would require LONG - LONGER pull. Those through the Nickel-Alloy would be the better as we find.
-
(Q) How soon can I hope to make such a connection? (A) In six to eight months.
-
(Q) Are my present investments in stocks good investments? (A) Some are very good investments. Some are not so good.
-
(Q) Would I be wise in making any further commitments at this time? (A) Wouldn’t change very much at present. Liquidations in some will be bettered. More in others might be beneficial. Wouldn’t change at present.
-
(Q) Would I be wise in engaging in the Investment Security business in Dayton or elsewhere? (A) That depends entirely upon the management. The one as referred to in Dayton is very good at present, but there are some not so good that’s associated with it that do much of the handling of the investments. You’ll find out in about four years.
-
(Q) Any other advice for this body at this time? (A) Follow this, for this line - for a connection. These will be found to be GOOD, and worth working for. We are through with this reading.

B2. 11/4/29 [5580]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar C. Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
You will recall having rendered a service to the writer a number of years ago in Dayton, Ohio. I happened to be back in Dayton a few days ago and talked to a number of my own friends, among them Dr. Lyman Lydic and [4219]. I understand Dr. Lydic is considering joining the staff of your hospital the first of the year, and as I am very much interested in him and in the work which you are doing, we talked at length regarding his connection with you and your hospital at Virginia Beach.
I desire to become a member of your institute as I want to receive in the future, the benefit of your readings, in which I have always had a lot of confidence. Will you please advise me the cost of a membership, and send me the necessary application blank to fill out? I will return it at once together with my check.
Dr. Lydic advised me that you will give a business reading as well as a health reading. If such is the case, I want a reading at once as I am just now changing my business and would like to have the benefit of any information which you can give me. Will you please let me hear from you immediately in regard to this as I will defer any action until I hear from you.
You have my best wishes for the success of your institution and the next time I am close to Virginia Beach, I am going to run over and see you. You are getting a splendid man in Dr. Lydic. He has taken care of my family ever since you first sent me to him [See 5580-1]. My best regards.
B3. 1/8/30 EC’s letter to [5580]:
Mr. [5580] …, Ave. Dayton, Ohio
Dear Mr. [5580]:-
I am just in receipt of yours of the 4th. I do not know but one way, Mr. [5580], to insure your getting the information you desire any time in the near future, and that would be for you to come to Virginia Beach. As I said, it has been decided as the best policy NOT to make appointments for business readings. As set forth in the purpose of the Association by Mr. Blumenthal, it IS the purpose to be of help, physically and mentally, to just as many of its members as possible. Under the circumstances, we are limited, owing to the inability of our channel of information to work any faster, and we feel that the physical should have preeminence, inasmuch as the hospital has been established to take care of the conditions and to give the demonstrations necessary to determine that we are at least working along the proper lines. We HAVE, however, made it a rule also, that where members show their faith and confidence by coming to the institution immediately, they are given preference. This is possibly beggaring the question. The circumstances, we hope, justify it. If we can be of service, we would like to. What is your decision?
Trusting we may hear from you, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
