This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of May, 1930, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [5612] via her brother Mr. [1739].

Time of Reading 3:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, we find the body-physical very good in many respects. There be some warnings that, adhered to - or the harkening to the warning will aid and prevent conditions arising later; for tendencies are shown in conditions of the general distribution of forces in the system, that would eventually become UNSATISFACTORY.

2. These, then, are the conditions as we find them at present with this body, [5612] we are speaking of, present in this room.

3. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find very good, save in that distribution through the assimilating forces of the body, as tends to the replenishing of the cellular forces as pertaining to the functioning of the system as related to the creating of portions IN the system that are of the urea nature, or that division in the blood as necessary for the functioning of the DUCTLESS glands. This would have to do with the endren [adrenal, endocrine], with the mammary, with the salivary, and these - as we find - in their execution of their functioning furnish to system that necessary element to prepare for assimilation, and to distribution in the assimilation.

4. In the manner that these are showing the tendencies: These come from that condition existent at present in those glands where absorption of that digested takes place in the system.

5. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE NERVE FORCES, these are very good, as are the FUNCTIONING ORGANS OF THE BODY. These, as we find, show LITTLE distress as to the GENERAL system, save as are seen when there is the tendency of too LITTLE of the urea in the system, when the reactions are of tired, nervous, little dull headaches, and tire easily. These are rather as warnings.

6. In meeting the needs of these, we would find that - were those applications as may be had from the use of the Radio-Active Appliance used occasionally; that is, two to three times each week, and at least twice each MONTH use that with the appliance with the vibrations as of the Chloride of Gold in same - this taken CONSISTENTLY, persistently - we will find an equilibrium kept in the body that will be well. Do that. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) What is cause and treatment for swelling and red spots over eyelids? (A) This the condition as we have given, from the adrenal or endren [endocrine] glands, and these - with the balancing in the system - so that the eliminations are kept normal, will be relieved.

8. (Q) Is it for the same reason that the eyelashes fall out? (A) Same reason.

9. (Q) What causes the dripping from the body at other than menstruation period? (A) This the activity of the system in the glands as related to those of the POOR ASSIMILATION as related to genitation, and WITH addition of those properties as are an aid to the glands OF the body, especially those of the lyden [Leydig] and genitive system, we will find these will be aided.

10. (Q) What causes sharp pain in left side at times when walking fast? (A) This is at the seat or the base of that as has been given as the seat or the CAUSE of the condition, in those of the glands where ASSIMILATION from that DIGESTED takes place; in those glands just below that of the functioning as related to the excretory and secretive system.

11. (Q) What causes bleeding of gums when brushing teeth? (A) Not using the proper dentifrice!

12. (Q) What remedy should be used? (A) Ipsab!

13. (Q) What treatment should be given for tightness of scalp, so as to prevent grayness of hair? (A) Manipulation. Electrical vibrator will be the better.

14. (Q) What is this body best fitted for? (A) A home.

15. (Q) What causes gas in the stomach? (A) This has just been described and explained, as to how that the affection of the condition of which the body should be warned affects that of the SALIVARY glands; also creates an over-acidity. A BALANCING of the conditions in the body will relieve these. Consistently, persistently - and do that. We are through for the present.

R1. 5/21/30 Dr. Lydic’s letter in answer to her inquiry about the reading: ”…After going over your reading I would suggest you do not try to take part of the reading suggested and not take the other.

“No diet was mentioned in your reading and no questions asked concerning it, and as I have no personal knowledge of your condition I would not be able to advise you.

“The diagnosis mentioned, primarily an unbalance of the ductless glands, which includes the thyroid, mammary, adrenals, ovaries, etc., also referred to a faulty assimilation which naturally produces a retention of poisons in the system. The radio-active appliance is given specifically to normalize this condition and as that is the chief trouble found, you can see how necessary it will be for you to make arrangements to get the battery treatments. It is very easy for you to get ten cents worth of ice at any soda fountain, if you feel concerned about your condition. Would say that the radio-active appliance cannot be purchased anywhere except the Cayce Hospital and, no doubt, you have received it by this time. If you do not care to make use of it, kindly return it as soon as is convenient.

“I understand that by mistake two bottles of Ipsab were sent to you - you may return what you do not use.

“Am sorry that I cannot advise you more fully, but hope you understand that to get results it is necessary to follow the readings in full…”

R2. 5/28/30 Dr. Lydic’s letter: ”…In reply to your letter of May 23 I wish to say that treatments should be given from thirty to forty-five minutes. Regarding your diet, I would recommend a diet which is for elimination and which will also cut down the acids in the system and of a nerve and blood-building nature. I am enclosing a diet of that nature.

“The metal anode should be placed in direct contact with the body and the umbilicus (which is on the abdomen and commonly known as the navel) and you can see that it will be necessary to attach one anode to the extremities, as given previously, and the other on the abdomen as given previously…”

R3. 6/3/30 Letter: ”…I did not send check on receipt of the apparatus because the instructions were not quite clear. I received further instructions from Dr. Lydic and used the apparatus for the first time last night and doubt whether it worked. When I received the battery I noticed a slight split on the side causing black powder to come out. I covered up the crack with adhesive tape.

“How am I to know whether the battery works? I feel no sensation. Is there any way of testing it out (by me) so that I can tell if it is in working condition? Is the chloride of gold suppose to evaporate?

“What is meant by ‘there is enough for two refills’ on the direction sheet?

“Will you please tell Dr. Lydic that the second paragraph of his letter of May 28 does not coincide with the second paragraph of ‘Direction for using Radio-Active Appliance’. Which am I to follow? Please let me hear from you as soon as possible…”

R4. 6/9/30 Dr. Lydic’s letter: ”…Replying to your letter of recent date, wish to advise you to return the radio-active appliance and we will send you another one immediately.

“Regarding the use of same, follow the directions sent you with the battery. There is no sensation to be felt from the use of this - it takes the electricity from the body and creates an equalization of circulation and vibration.

“There is enough solution in the large bottle to use in the small bottle twice.

“If there is anything else you do not understand, let us know and we will try to explain…”

R5. 11/30 Letter: ”…I returned the radio battery by parcel post as per suggested by Mr. Cayce to Mrs. […] [[1739]‘s wife]. Black powder leaked therefrom.

“I also returned the wires so they can be treated as they seemed stiff and might be dried up.

“Please return batteries and wires after repairs so that I may test the battery which I have been unable to do to present time…”

R6. 11/21/30 EC’s letter: ”…The order was given to the young man at the hospital who is in charge of the batteries [Gray Salter]. I’m sure he has corrected your battery and returned it to you before this. If you will USE this, Miss [5612], in the way it was outlined, I am sure you will receive a great deal of benefit from it. Be sure that the container for the ice is properly arranged, and that the anodes are in contact when applied to the body. While this will not give off a shock that you will feel immediately, there is an effect to the system. As a real live suggestion acts with a mental body so will the radio-active influence from this machine act with the physical body. Of course, if you have the idea that it’s not any good, and won’t do any good - that it’s a lot of trouble, etc. - why that’s just about how much good you will get out of it.

R7. 12/19/30 Miss [5612] wrote EC repeating the difficulties she encountered with the first appliance, saying that the new one that she received “seems to be an improvement on the other. It is very strange that there is no sensation felt from the use of the battery… How can you tell whether it is working or not?…” She explained that she was tempted to return the appliance and get her money back.

R8. 12/23/30 EC wrote: “Have you conscientiously and consistently used the apparatus (as you choose to call it)? To use it once and then wait several days or week before using it again certainly will not do any good. No, I am sure you do not feel any sensation from the appliance. Neither do you feel any sensation when you are growing from a little girl to a grown woman, but you grow just the same. The bones lengthen and your body continues to expand. Just so with the low form of electrical force. It EQUALIZES the vibratory forces WITHIN your whole body. No one is aware of the pulsation in either extremity, but when the pulsations or vibrations in the system become unbalanced, there is a cause. The appliance is to equalize the vibratory force in the system and create a balance within that is a growth, NOT a sensation that snatches a body from one side of a room to the other - but it works just on the same principle as our growth within.

“Won’t you at least give all the treatments suggested a fair trial? Not that it means anything to me, other than I feel that it will mean a very great deal to you…”

R9. 12/29/30 Letter: ”…I am going to use the battery you sent me and hope I receive good results. My principle ailment was a red blotch over my right eyelid and both upper lids unusually heavy, I having catarrh of the eyelids. I am trying to use the radio battery to see if it will help the condition which was mentioned in the reading. If this does not help perhaps you can recommend an expert eye doctor whose fees are moderate for business girls…”

R10. 1/8/31 EC wrote advising her to use all of the treatments recommended in her reading as well as the radio-active appliance.
