This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 4th day of April, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [5652].

1. EC: Yes - Now we find there are a complication of causes as produce the abnormal forces for this body. These may be assisted and the conditions finally brought near the normal, will the body but apply that which will - with the resistive forces of the physical body - replenish and rebuild sufficient to bring the normal conditions.

2. This, as we find, will necessitate taking into consideration the various ways and manners that the functioning system has been broken down, both by outside influences and the building up in the system of those conditions as create elements within themselves to replenish or rebuild in itself, relying upon the physical forces of the system - as are misdirected in same - to bring about the building.

3. Then, we will find it necessary to create first the basis from which the body may be brought to the near NORMAL reaction to the vibratory forces necessary to create with the system that of those conditions as will replenish same, building with the glands in their secretion sufficient of those properties and vibrations that will furnish from same that necessary element in the physical functioning to overcome those conditions that have been produced by the lack of the proper coordination of eliminating forces through the system.

4. These, then, come not only from that destructive force as has been created by the misdirection of nerve energy as respecting the assimilation, but also of the effect this misdirected energy has had upon the whole of the hepatic circulation - especially its relation to the endrene glands [endocrine-adrenal?], that have to do with the reproductive forces - as well as that of those conditions that create the proper element for the elimination OF the drosses as are taken from the system through the functioning of the kidneys in its relation to the body, as well as those of the upper hepatic circulation and the effect of the forces as are created in the serums of the body above the diaphragm to those portions of the system that bring the proper coordination of locomotion in the body.

5. First, then, we would create these conditions by the addition of medicinal properties as would be found in the combining of forces in this - first preparing the carrier for the properties as are to be taken.

6. Take 1 quart of DISTILLED water and add 2 ounces of wild cherry bark and 2 ounces of sarsaparilla root. Reduce this by simmering, not boiling, to 1/2 the quantity. Then strain while warm, adding 4 ounces of simple syrup, reducing again to the original quantity - or taking out sufficient of the liquid to make the original pint. Then we would add:

Elixir of Calisaya…2 ounces, Tincture of Stillingia…1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root…1/4 ounce, 10% Solution Iodide of Potassium…1/4 ounce, 10% Solution Bromide of Potassium…40 minims, Tincture of Capsici…3 minims, Essence of Celerena, or Celery, or Celerena may be used…1/2 ounce, Alcohol…2 ounces, with Balsam of Tolu…2 drams, cut in same.

7. Shake solution together before the dose is taken, which should be teaspoonful before each meal.

8. Do not take any properties that are of the forces as carry too much of the production of fats or of those forces that affect the kidneys and the liver, especially of the pancreas - or the pancrean juices.

9. Also use for the vibratory forces of the system, while these properties are being taken, those of the Radio-Active Appliance that carry with same those of Chloride of Gold; attaching the first pole, or pad, to the wrist and the next application to the ankle, to OPPOSITE side of the body. That that carries the properties into the system should be attached to or near the umbilicus to the UPPER part and toward the RIGHT side of the body, or near the lower end or lower left end of the pancrean center. This vibration should be taken at least half an hour twice each day, preferably of eight to nine in the morning and four to six in the afternoon.

10. When these properties that have been given as medicinal forces have all been taken, and the vibrations of the Radio-Active Appliance has been used for the same period of time, we would give further instructions for this body - [5652] - We will find that these will bring the nearer physical functioning for a normal condition of the body. Do that. We are through.

”…If you can not get the prescription filled properly in your town, I think we can give you the name of a druggist in Dayton who can fill it for you.

“Also, the Radio-Active Appliance is manufactured by Mr. Thomas B. Brown …, Ohio. This appliance was first suggested for Mr. Brown in a reading, and since then he has been making them up for those who desire to use them in accordance with suggestions in reading. He is one of the Vice President’s of the Association, and is spending a few days here at present - as you will see from your reading [he being present]…”

Gentlemen:-

I take pleasure in acknowledging receipt of yours of May 6th.

At this date, I have been unable to follow all the suggestions in your reading of April 4th. The drug store that filled the prescription were held up on account of their shipment of alcohol being lost and only a few days ago had the prescription filled. In getting the Electric appliance ready they found that they did not have any chloride of gold and stated that it would only be a few days until this was received. Therefore, I hope to be following the instructions very faithful within the next few days.

A part of the reading was a little hard to understand as to applying to my case. This, of course, was due to the terms used and not being a medical man could not apply them if I would of been familiar with the terms.

For your information, I might say that my general health is good. I am able to work every day throughout the year but at a very great disadvantage. My back is entirely rigid and during the past year my neck is becoming stiff that it is of a big handicap even in work and society. During the day and at night I am troubled with severe pains in the region of my kidneys. In addition to this should I run against something accidental, pains will shoot through my entire system. For example should I get up at night and hit a door with my knee, chair or any other object, the pain is so great that I am compelled to rest until the pain leaves me. Another example, in walking in the yard or in a woods and even if the rim of my hat or the crown strikes a branch of a tree, the results are the same. This I always thought was my nerves although I do not seem to be of a nervous disposition. I am also under weight, my height is 5’ 8” and only weigh 122#. This weight was made on May the 8th, the first day that I took of the tonic which was prescribed.

R3. 10/8/29 Letter in answer to several inquiries: ”…I have not followed out the instructions as outlined in Mr. Cayce’s reading. In fact, have been unable to get the Chloride of Gold to be used with the apparatus I ordered from him. However, I find that I can get it from a wholesale drug company in Dayton and will start on the treatment in the next few weeks…”
