This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of November, 1930, in accordance with request made by his mother, Mrs. [5661].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [5660]. Now, we find the body in many respects very good. There are evidences throughout the system of local infection, that distributes through the system poisons as make for disturbances in the nerve system, in the digestive organs, and in the assimilations and their distribution. These, as we find, would be better were the causes - or points of infection - removed from the system; for they have reached such a state as would make same necessary for removal. There will be necessary, too, for the state of acidity to be looked after, and the calcium increased in the system. These, as we find, are the conditions to be met.

2. IN the manner of change, we would REMOVE the points OF infection (tonsil). We would keep an increased elimination through alimentary canal, with an intestinal antiseptic following same occasionally. This should be preferably of an alkalin reaction, such as those of Glyco-Thymoline or Lavoris, or of Magnesia, and of aloe [aloe vera?], or phenophthalein - these, in quantities under the supervision of ones handling the operative forces.

3. The addition in calcium should be in those food values to the system, when the changes are effected.

4. For the nerve system, we will find that exercise will add to the system - through the RELAXING of the whole body, with a stiff rub down following same, and a general massage at the same time would be most effective for the body. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Any advice for help before, during or after operation? (A) This has been given.

6. (Q) Is there any trouble with teeth that might affect hearing? (A) This is more from the condition in tonsil than from teeth, though there are some that need local attention. This should be done, as well as the addition to the system of the calcium - that will aid in clarifying same. There should be used those properties in Ipsab as a cleanser for the condition, on teeth and gums - WITH the local infection removed - in teeth. We are through for the present.

R1. 12/25/30 Mother’s Christmas card: ”…Thank you for your prompt delivery of our readings [5661-2 and 5660-1]. We went to the hospital in …, West Virginia for operation after a doctor friend in Martinsburg said tonsils not needed out and the surgeon at hospital said the same when we got there. But on day after Thanksgiving they took him to operating room and after he went bad four times and had to be brought back by artificial respiration, doctor gave up the attempt. So he still has his tonsils plus the accompanying inconvenience. He is using salt nasal douches which relieve head catarrh. Surgeon says that leakage from head may be responsible for tonsils registering positive under tests. A week’s pay from work lost and an expensive trip but we are both alive and thankful…”

B1. 2/19/30 Mother [5661]‘s letter: ”…My son [5660] has been advised by doctors to go to the hospital and have tonsils removed… You may find an operation unnecessary…”

B2. 4/7/30 Mother [5661]‘s letter: ”…The doctor now says the trouble is the Uvula; it has to be clipped instead of the tonsils being removed. This can be done with local antiseptic…”

B3. 11/7/30 Mother’s letter: ”…[5660]‘s throat has continued troublesome. The company advised a culture test which showed negative in both cases - tonsils, I mean. Everything seems heading toward an operation on 11/27 or 28 and I do want you to find out if it is really necessary.

“We are invited to the hospital of a friend in West Virginia who owns two small hospitals and does much of the surgical work himself. He will make no charge to [5660] for service or time spent in hospital. But I still feel it may not be necessary…”

B4. 11/19/30 Mother’s letter: ”…Do you get any trouble with his teeth that might affect hearing? Any question that would promote help, happiness and prosperity we would gratefully receive…”
