1. EC: We have the body here - this we have had before. There is not perceptible much change in the physical conditions of the body at present from that as we have had before; yet the change is just in that as the consistency has been with the application of those conditions as were given for the first of the correction for the body. There is seen that there are periods when the coordination in system - the retraction or reaction to the mental body - apparently shows change; yet in a general way and manner, little or none - and at times apparently it grows less. This is a lack of the proper handling, or proper consideration, or proper consistency with that as has been given. Would the conditions be assisted, as has been outlined, it will require a very persistent and consistent action on the part of those that would build into this physical body that of the proper coordination between the mental and physical body, that the retraction and reaction as come from the mental being of the body, the normal functioning of the physical being, coming in coordination with the mental and brain reaction and building up within the forces those that will build this connection between the sympathetic, and cerebro-spinal and sensory retraction in body. The added forces of those vibrations as given will bring this about. Now is needed the consistent use of same, and adding WITH that, that of the consistent manipulating of the centers as especially govern the central nerve system; also that of the pineal gland’s connection with the brain forces in the 1st and 2nd cervical, and in the 9th dorsal and the 4th lumbar. These centers need especial attention. Manipulated osteopathically - that gentle massage over the body at least every other day. Do these consistently for the next thirty days, and we will find considerable improvement in this body, [5691]. We are through for the present.

R1. 1/3/29 Letter from [5691]‘s mother: ”…When my sister returned from Virginia Beach [11/1/28], she told me that Mrs. Cayce advised her that you expected the Hospital to be ready for occupancy around the first of the year. I am wondering how soon I could see you about my baby. If the place is ready I can come down there to make final arrangements with you. Of course, I do not want to make the trip unless you will be there and the Hospital near enough to completion so that you can tell me when the baby can be admitted. I would appreciate also if you would advise me if there is any change in her condition. Apparently there is none, but I would like to hear from you. Mrs. Cayce told my sister, Miss […], that on your return from New York I would hear from you but up to this time I have heard nothing other than the appeal for funds. After my sister’s visit to Virginia Beach I sent you a check for $25.00, but have had no acknowledgement, although the check has been paid. Kindly let me hear from you as soon as possible…”

R2. 1/7/29 GC wrote that the delay had been caused by EC being ill for several weeks: ”…We appreciated very much your contribution, which we credited to the furniture account for the Hospital. The building is completed now and as soon as the furniture is in we will be ready to start work…”

R3. 1/14/29 EC’s letter:

My dear Mrs. […]

I have yours of the 3rd. It certainly has been an oversight that the office did not acknowledge receipt of your check for $25.00. I’m sure, from what you say, you must have great faith in our undertaking, or else - from the way you have been treated - you would have gotten the impression that we were rather mercenary. However, I assure you there’s nothing in the world farther from the intent and purpose of the Association or any part of the work being conducted by same. My secretary tells me she has already written you. I hope you will pardon this delay. I have been quite unwell myself, though, for the last few weeks. That, combined with a great number of requests - as well as the necessity of more or less personally looking after the completion of the building - the arranging for the furniture and equipment throughout the building - has kept me from attending to my correspondence as I should.

We believe now, Mrs. […] that we will be able to get in the building and be ready for work by the first or second week in February. You no doubt know what it means to have promises from factories that are making up various parts of the equipment and furniture - but we will try to keep in touch with you and let you know just as soon as we are able to open up.

R4. 3/6/29 Letter to [5691]‘s mother:

Dear Fellow Member:-

The Trustees of the Association of National Investigators, Inc., take this occasion to announce the opening of the Association hospital - namely, the Cayce Hospital of Research and Enlightenment, at Virginia Beach, Virginia - on February 11, 1929. This institution is now completed, equipped and ready to receive patients.

The Board congratulates the members of the Association and desires to express its appreciation for the efforts you have made towards the erection of this institution. The Board further assures you that without your assistance this project could never have been completed. You, as a member of our Association, already are aware of the fact that the work of our Association carried on in the Cayce Hospital must go far, not only to relieve the sick and aid the suffering, but also must it so enlighten the minds of many people as to bring a revealing light into the world, the holy rays of which will brighten the path of many a weary traveler on earth.

The Board of Trustees invites you to visit and, if you have need, to USE your hospital - the offices of which are now at your service. The members of the Board of Trustees have faith in their organization, in it and in its members, that together we may be steadfast in our effort to reveal a breadth of vision, a scope of experience, and a continuity of life to which the race at this time is barely awakening. We have, as an organization, but to individually and collectively fulfil the ideals of the Association to become a powerful factor in the good we may accomplish for humanity, and to enjoy the creation of our handiwork.

R5. 5/29 Letter from [5691]‘s mother: ”…Again I want to wish you lots of success with your beautiful Hospital. Just received your beautiful book of beautiful descriptions. Would you let me know what the rates are? I am going to bring [5691] down. I feel you will be able to do something for her. My sister saw Mrs. Cayce sometime ago while you were in New York and the Hospital was under construction. She was very much impressed with Mrs. Cayce and the surroundings. Let me hear as soon as possible and what I should bring along for her…”

R6. 6/3/29 EC’s letter: ”…We are enclosing the rates. I hardly know how to tell you just what will be necessary. Possibly, if you will come down yourself we will be better able to talk the matter over while you are here and advise you just what will be the best course to pursue. You will be able, of course, to talk with the physicians who will be in charge, and I am sure the arrangements can be handled alright…”

R7. 2/12/30 GD’s form letter to entire ANI membership (on each expiration):

According to our records, your membership in the Association expired on February 25, 1929. Since you became a member, the Cayce Hospital at Virginia Beach has been completed and is in operation, the results obtained by the patients treated been most satisfactory.

“The New Tomorrow”, the quarterly publication of the Association, was inaugurated in December, 1929, and will be published regularly for the benefit of our members, a copy of which is mailed to each one.

We are just at the beginning of an intensive educational program, interesting announcements of which will be made within a short time. Plans are under way for the erection of a club house at which it will be your privilege to remain, if at any time you come to Virginia Beach, which we hope all of our member will do. The past year, though it has not exceeded our expectations in the progress of the work, has exceeded them in the rapidity with which it has been accomplished thus far. The Board has a great many things which they are working on for the benefit of all the members and they will be advised of them from time to time.

We are in hopes that your membership has been of great benefit to you and that you will continue with us in our work “That We May Make Manifest Our Love For God And Man.”

Members already on our roll are, of course, given preference when readings are desired; in other words, if you should allow your membership to lapse and then later decide that you wanted to get a reading, by merely paying the membership dues would not insure you that the reading would be obtained as promptly as if you were already listed among our members, for you would have to take your turn as any other new member.

The amount necessary to cover the renewal of your membership is 15.00, which constitutes the dues of a Class "A" member, the class to which you are entitled to belong, having originally belonged as a Class "B" member. No readings are included with the payment of this amount, but may be obtained for the usual fee of 10.00 each.

Because of the great number of appointments ahead for several months, the membership list has been temporarily closed. As a result, there are a great many people waiting to become members, realizing at this time the advantages which they had not recognized heretofore. We would, therefore, thank you to send us your check to cover renewal of membership, or advise us immediately whether or not it is your desire to continue as a member so that, if not, the opportunity might be given to someone else. A self-addressed envelope is enclosed for your use.
