1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. We have had this before you see. Now, we find there are some conditions in this body not as good as when we had it here before. Some of the ligaments about the brachial plexus and those about the secondary cardiac plexus, the lower cervical region, the upper and middle dorsal region by the congestion we find these ligaments are taut and they give distress to the mucus producing glands in portions of the face through the antrum and throat. There is some inflammation and some temperature has been produced by this congestion through the body. This is of a specific condition. As for the general conditions through the body, especially as that we have had through the pelvic organs, the condition through the vagina itself, the discharge as is shown by the secretions of the organs, we need more of a local treatment with the packs and of antiseptic, as we have given, to be used here. For the congestion and the condition through the larynx, the head and throat and the effect as is being produced through the digestive organs, we would take at the present time those of a specific nature. This we would take now for four days every evening: Five grains of asafoetida with 10 grains of aspirin with a very strong solution as would be found either from lemon heated or from a very strong alkali, as from soda.

2. It would be well if this would be varied one one day and the other the next day - that is the acid one day and the alkaline solution the next. The manipulation for the entire body must be kept up or the congestion will cause the catarrhal condition to show again through the pelvic organs. Use the packs as we have given of soda and heat from salt across the region of the sacrum. Some local internal treatment should be given through the pelvic organs. Do that. Keep this up and we will find we will bring this body, Mrs. [5694] to a normal condition.

Not having a regular steno. here makes it a bit slow getting these written off, but hope this will prove just what you are looking for, and I believe you will find this is a bit more specific about the local treatments that were to be given. I would follow these suggestions if I were in your place and believe you will get the desired results. I want to be sure and hear from you from time to time, so we keep up with this until you are your real self again. Hope you have overcome that specific condition that appeared a few days ago and are feeling better…”

Dear Dr. Cayce:-

I am today in receipt of your letter of Feb. 12th, and your reading of the 9th.

I am going to ask for even a little more information if I may. I mean I want you to make a few things in your reading a little clearer:

Please tell me just what is meant by “need more of a local treatment with the PACKS and of ANTISEPTIC.” What kind of PACKS? And I failed to say in my last letter to you (of Feb 6th) that the osteopath was inserting in the vagina an antiseptic wafer every other day. Is that the antiseptic you have reference to, and want me to continue?

Please tell me where you say “The manipulation for the entire body must be kept up” if you mean osteopathic treatment. I am sure it has helped me.

You say: “Use the packs as we have given of soda and heat from salt across the region of the pelvic organs.” I do not know of any PACKS of “soda and heat from salt” that you have recommended. Won’t you please be very explicit about this? Tell me exactly how to fix these packs (what proportion of each thing) and exactly how to use them, and how often. Do I just lay these packs on the outside of my body “across the region of the pelvic organs?”

I am sorry not to have understood you thoroughly, but I would rather ask for more advice from you than to make a mistake and not follow the directions as you wish.

I will begin tonight on the 5 grains of asafoetida and 10 grains of aspirin and strong solution of lemon heated, and will make the change for tomorrow night as directed. Will continue this for four nights, and hope to have good results.

I have recently (within the last week or ten days) discontinued rubbing with the vinegar and salt, and also discontinued the taking of the phosphate of soda with 10 drops of syrup of sarsaparilla. Was that what you wished since we are to begin a new treatment?

R3. 2/19/23 EC’s letter: ”…Yours of the 14th will try and answer as best I can. As you realize, were I so I could talk with you I could do much better, for I do not know when I read the matter taken down whether it is correct or not unless I can check with the party it is for. As regarding packs, of course you had not told me anything about this, yet the reading says keep these up, so it must be that you should take the packs as the osteopath has been giving you. That is what I believe is meant here, that it will give you relief and it means the same kind he has been giving. Manipulation means the Osteopathic treatment for the entire system; it must be kept up for a while yet.

“In the first reading you were told to rub the sacrum region or small of the back with the acid or vinegar and then change to the alkaline. This means here you are to use a saturated solution of soda now and rub the small of the back and hips with it, then apply salt heated. Take heavy salt, heat, put in a sack and apply to the parts rubbed with the soda to dry that in. You will find it will relieve you of those heavy pains. Be sure and try that. Only use these when you are in very much pain - soda - saturated solution - common baking soda - saturated solution means all that will dissolve in any quantity of water. I would suggest using about half a pint - salt - enough to cover the parts of the body, both front and back will be good, and you will find this will relieve your pain. Only use when in pain or when retiring at night. Yes, stop the first, unless the condition of your bowels require that you take the Phosphate. Then do that to keep them in shape.
