R8. 11/16/24 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [228]: “It is something dreadful when a person is treated as [4121] was by a person [5717] who interested himself in me and in [4121], to get out of him all of the loose money he [4121] had, for my good friend who brought me here certainly did that very thing for [4121] and caused him to lose a good many dollars, as well as nearly a year’s time, waiting and fooling along with him, and then finally let him drop after he’d gotten all he could get, but [4121] is a good, clean-cut fellow and I’m sure will make his way and be an effective force among people wherever he may go. I certainly wish that you and he and I and a few others I know, could get to work on this proposition in a manner that would be satisfactory for all, but what we lack is the money to start with and that is the thing none of us have and we’ll have to get along the best we can…”
R9. 12/9/25 GD’s note: Mr. [5453] wrote of how Mr. [5717] had enticed [5453] to Florida with glowing promises and then left him stranded there, with no money, no job, away from his family, etc.

R13. 4/70 GD’s note: HLC told me that sometime ago Mr. [5717]‘s daughter attended one of the lectures at an A.R.E. Conference in California.
