This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5728], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born January 3, 1899, in Doblen, Courland, Latvia (formerly Russia). Time of Reading Set bet. 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. Honolulu, HW.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as [5728].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records, we find an entity whose environs in the material plane will have everything to do with the characteristics of the entity itself. Thus the choices as to which environs will be the experience, must be made by the entity itself. For in the different environs we will find a different person entirely.

4. If the activities of the entity are in an environment of a city or the surroundings, then these should be entirely in the entertainment world; for the entity is a wonderful conversationalist and has ability to teach and practice dancing, music and entertainment. Those abilities to teach others should be used to entertain.

5. If the activities are in a small town or country, these should be almost in that direction as a recluse, but one given to teaching the mysteries of life; the activities from the mystical, the esthetic, every form of nature.

6. Either of these would be correct, provided these are in keeping self as the means of awakening only the creative forces, or to bring about in the entertainment field, a place of rest, a place for the mind of individuals to be changed from a work-a-day world, and with never a thought given to sordid or uncouth or the questionable, but rather the character of entertainment that is rest to body and to mind.

7. If the activities are in the field of teaching mysticism, or of such nature, the entity will naturally (in either case) draw about it groups of people. Thus it behooves the entity to choose its environ and to use either of those directions for the greater unfoldment, or for the entity to make the experience of life worthwhile. For without these activities, in whatever the environ, the entity is a part of is passing by without the entity doing anything about it.

8. As to the appearances in the earth:

9. Before this we find the entity was among those chosen by groups to whom (in the land of the entity’s present sojourn) there were sent companions or wives, where there was a shortage of women.

10. The entity in its associations became, among those groups active in building up homes in the land close to what is now Annapolis; in the name then, after marriage, Anna Chase. (Chevy Chase comes from the entity’s own activities).

11. In the experience the entity was known far and wide as one who set the principles for many of those who carried on their activities in the land. The entity was never questioned by those groups as to its activity or relationship.

12. Thus the entity has a clean mind, and thus as indicated, may use either direction as a field for a service to be a greater life in this experience.

13. Before that we find the entity was in the Grecian land, during those periods when there was the building up of activity for entertainment, the preparation for the artist and the people who posed for the statuary and the carvings. In all of these the entity was associated with the workers, and was not active itself in working with same. Thus the interest in same and the liking to see others interested and the abilities to judge same; to speak of same, to become even an authority of same.

14. The name was then Peslen.

15. Before that we find the entity was in the Holy Land, during those periods when there were those entering of the chosen people. The entity was of the Hittites, yet realizing the things that had come to pass, the entity chose to make connections with the groups that were the descendants of those who had been set in authority, especially of that one who was given Hebron as his inheritance, for the entity was wedded with his grandson.

16. There the entity made studies of the mysteries, not only of the Holy Land, but of the genealogies of the people, of the children of Lot; the children of Katurah, and the sons of Abraham, and their relationship to the people with whom the entity had sojourned and worked in that period.

17. The name was Keturecht in that period.

18. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were preparations through activity in the Temple of Sacrifice, and the Temple Beautiful, in aiding individuals to make their choice for the activity during their period of sojourn in the earth.

19. Hence, as has been indicated, still may the entity aid in helping others to find themselves when the mind is weary and worn, in rest and recreation.

20. Or the entity may apply itself in the study of psychic and mystical ways in the individual self.

21. Study first then thyself; know thy relationship with the Creative Forces and then apply self in either direction as may be chosen.

23. (Q) Where can I find a need for what I have to give? (A) Where you are! Begin in either one of the directions outlined, as circumstances and conditions warrant.

24. (Q) How may I overcome the lonely, depressed feeling, and the fear that life is passing me by? (A) Commence by giving that ye have to give, in either of the manners indicated.

25. (Q) How can I fill the great gap in my life? (A) Read what has been indicated, and commence that which the entity can supply that is much needed in the lives of individuals, in either direction. And few people have such beautiful lines to follow.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Such a lost feeling when one comes to the end of the road, nothing in the future, no one to turn to for advice; this is why, I sincerely hope, Mr. Cayce, that you can help me.

Have recently found out thru the Red Cross that both my parents died in subjugated Europe; probably in misery, degradation, and hunger. I was living for the day when I could rush help to them, but now it is too late, and I cannot help them.

So now I am all alone in the world, except for my 16-year old daughter. She is an attractive, intelligent youngster, wrapped up in her school and social activities, and as for 16 years she has been my whole aim in life, I find it a very difficult task not to depend on this relationship too completely, to let go the strings, and realize that she is on her way to maturity and independence, and I must not stand in her way.

In my work, I suppose, I could be called successful; for a woman without any particular profession, I earn what is considered a good salary, and am well liked. However, the job is not absorbing, and I consider it just the means for making a living.

All this seems to lead to one thing: I am very lonely, and am desperate when I think that in a couple more years I won’t even have my daughter to make a home for, guide and love. What is wrong with me? I get a lot of compliments on being attractive, and even charming; but socially I am such a failure. Of course, I am not young, and it is only the young who have variety of partners from opposite sex to choose from; men I know are all married; any men who were interested in me always had dishonorable intentions; I seem to be out of step with the times - lots of drinking and loose morals. But deep within me I feel that I am doing right; that I could not be otherwise, for then I would lose my own self-respect, and just won’t pay such high price for popularity. Am I to live the rest of my life alone, lonely, and miserable, happiness passing me by? Is there any ray of hope?
