This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of May, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [5730], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. Albin Bro, via 9/43 Coronet article.

Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. Chicago, Ill.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes. As we find here, there are disturbances that will require a long period of varied treatments, if there is to be any permanent or greater mental aid. For here we find at birth there weren’t the precautions, nor were there the cares taken in tieing the navel center, and these have caused cross-currents through the body, so that from the frontal solar plexus all forms of disturbances arise, especially as the various cycles of change come into the body.

3. As is seen, there are periods when, with the least activity, or a great deal of pressure, it produces that called palpitation of the heart; disturbance of the vision; the feet are disturbed. At regular periods the menstrual flow is in disorder, causing a great deal of distress to the body. There is very poor eliminations at times; inactivity to the alimentary canal.

4. As we find, to bring corrections we would use the short wave, about three amperes. Attach about twice a week. One time use the attachment in the solar plexus, the 9th dorsal; the other to be, that same week, on the abdominal area, even over the center itself, though it will cause a great deal of distress, possibly headache, or aching in the feet for at least three or four periods when these are used, but this is the manner in which the nerve centers that center there, may be gradually brought to coordinate, though they may make extremes in some of the reactions in the body.

5. Be mindful that there are precautions as to the directions that all these currents flow, especially when the application of the short wave is made to the navel or umbilical center, that that which directs the flow to the heart’s activity is not stressed, but that which directs the flow to the lower portions of the body. These we find, offer better reactions.

6. Osteopathic adjustments will aid. These are to be relaxing to the centers regularly where there is the closer connection between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous systems, as in the 3rd cervical; the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 9th dorsal; the axis lumbar areas, and throughout the sacral region.

7. These we would do, if we would bring better conditions for this body.

R1. 5/44 Letter: “I rec’d the reading and was pleased with it. I am following out instructions, and so far the reactions have occurred as specified.”

R2. 6/19/44 Husband’s letter requested an appointment for his mother and said: “My wife [5730] is under your present care - and miraculously is improving very slightly.”

R3. 7/10/44 Husband’s letter: “She has taken 10 treatments but in the past 5 days the pain in her head is so intense that it is driving her crazy (Please save her from suicide or madness!). Her nails are getting purple, her body numb, and she has the sensation she is dying. There is a tightening, squeezing pain in her chest. She is getting ready to die. On Tuesday the 5th she tried suicide unsuccessfully. God, someone must be able to help her!

“Mr. Cayce, nothing seems to help her when she gets those intense pains. In desperation we tried you, and believe you. Please help quickly.

“[5730] has often pleaded with me that I allow her to leave this world. I never could, and never could believe she can not be helped. I cannot watch her helplessly. Few of us have the courage to live on like her. She is so kind, considerate, intelligent - a good neighbor, a good wife, a good friend, a good Christian. She must live. She must not suffer.

“Please help quickly.”

R4. 7/13/44 EC’s letter: “The only thing that we can do at the present time is to offer a prayer, for our whole period is all taken. Then for the last few days it has been impossible for me to even try to work.”

R5. 7/25/44 Mr. John Kiereta’s letter: “Mrs. [5730] said that you could give us some instructions on how to help our son.”

R6. 12/11/44 Letter verified appointments for a second Physical Reading and a Life Reading: “If possible have the Life Reading dealing with future events that are to occur of a spiritual nature - spiritual development, evolvement, spiritual living, etc. Spiritual grace, light, the Master, Affinity, Guardian Angel, Etc.”

R7. 2/3/45 Letter: “Because of Edgar Cayce’s death I was unable to have my Life Reading and a Physical check reading. It would please me very much if you returned the sum I paid (in money order) for services which unhappily he was unable to meet!”

R8. 2/15/45 Money was returned to her.

R9. 2/25/45 She returned mimeographed form which we had sent out asking members if they wanted to renew, buy publications, etc., with money still on hand. She indicated she wished hers returned, saying: “In the future I may be a contributor to your work; anyway I would like to, when I am able.”

R10. 3/19/45 Money was returned to her again, i.e., because of mix-up, confusion, etc., her money was refunded twice, but she did not return it and we never heard from her again.

R11. 11/30/61 GD’s note: This refund of the money twice was just now discovered as I studied this case. I can’t help wondering if she got results.

B2. 4/22/44 Letter: For 8 years I have been trying many medical religious and dietary helps to cure what doctors call “Migraine Attacks” without success.

My body suffers with pain and tenseness in the neck, head, temples, forehead and eyes, even the spine and the feet are affected. The bottoms of the feet becoming so sensitive that I have to walk very carefully on them. The increased engorgement of blood in the head prevents me from moving my body to the smallest degree, for the throbbing increases intensifying the pains.

Nausea is present and often violent vomiting. I seem unable to breathe or to get oxygen, often causing me to breathe violently so that I should not choke. Either too much feverish heat is present in my head and body or I become very very cold. A great tiredness and weakness sets in and I either become nervous amounting to hysteria or tears, or else I sink into an almost comatose state as if about to cease breathing and die.

In this period I cannot bear light or noise. My heart often beats very fast and continues so for hours or days.

I cannot carry packages, blowing my nose brings on an attack, so will milk, cream, or peanuts. So will seeing movies, leaving my head uncovered in the sun, sleeping with less than 2 pillows and fatigue or strain of any kind. At menstrual periods I am doubly ill.

I have a very great deal of phlegm or mucous in my nose, throat etc. My eyesight is bad and I cannot use them for long period as typing, reading, etc. I have many bloody noses, a bad complexion, brown patches around my chin, painful menstrual cramps, my teeth won’t stop decaying, my hair has begun to fall out and much dandruff is present.

I also suffer from constipation and my navel seems to be untied in my stomach. Naturally I have tried to correct these conditions thru the use of vitamins, minerals, diets, and enemas, medicines, psychiatry, suggestion and prayer.

I stopped eating - meant to discipline myself spiritually, but my body seems to require it.

1. Should I continue taking the vitamins, ammonium chloride, calcium phosphate, and ferric ammonium chloride?
2. Please suggest foods to stress and foods to avoid in the diet?
3. What should be done concerning the condition of my navel?
4. What will cure me of bloody noses and the phlegm condition?
5. Can my heart be restored to normal?
6. What attention should I seek to place my toes back to normalcy?
7. What should I do to increase my tolerance of noise, light, the sun on my head, seeing movies, etc?
8. What can I do to cure constipation?
9. What can be done for menstrual cramps?
10. What can be done to restore my eyesight to normal?
11. What can I do to cure myself of constipation?
