R1. 7/11/27 EC’s letter: Going over my correspondence, I find the young lady hasn’t sent us a copy of the reading gotten there. This we would like to have, also we would like to know whether there was any portion of the suggestions given carried out or not, and just how Mr. [5772] is getting along.

R2. 7/18/27 Mr. [1323]‘s letter: You will, no doubt, regret to hear that Mr. [5772] passed away on 7/9th. There was no part of his reading carried out mostly because of his condition at the time and the fact that the reading only mentioned of prolonging of his life, also stating that the reaction of the treatment would cause suffering. It is interesting to note, however, that one of the three doctors on the case advocated the ultra-violet rays as a treatment, but after making an examination he admitted that it would be impossible to give them due to his condition. Mr. […] [GD’s note: This man was Mr. [1323]‘s employer with same last name as Mr. [5772]] was a little disappointed in the reading in that it was not specific in some instances. I explained to him that I wanted to ask some questions, but was a few seconds too late as you said you were through. It would have been much better if he could have been present as I wanted him. P.S. I forgot to mention that I have no copy of the reading but as soon as an opportune time presents itself I will ask Mr. […] for his copy and send it to you. I am enclosing my check to cover any expenses you may have had in connection therewith.

R3. 8/17/27 EC’s letter: I certainly regret to hear of Mr. [5772]‘s death. I certainly would like to have been of assistance, had it been possible, but I felt rather doubtful as to being of assistance after having waited so long. I certainly hope you will have an opportunity to get a copy of the reading, or that part of it that the young lady was able to transcribe - for with the perfecting of the organization, you know we will want to keep track of each and every reading that is given, so that we may be able to judge, from a scientific viewpoint - as to the consistency of the information and data that is gathered.

R4. 8/6/79 GD’s note: Edgar Cayce continued to hear from his friend Mr. [1323], who obtained the reading for Mr. [5772]. I think Mr. [5772] must have been a brother or a son of Mr. [1323]‘s employer, since he had the same last name. The last correspondence with Mr. [1323] was in Jan. 1943 after he had obtained a copy of Thomas Sugrue’s THERE IS A RIVER. We never did get a copy of the reading - what the steno. obtained of it - for Mr. [5772]. Evidently the steno. was borrowed from the “Company” office where Mr. [1323] worked.
