Reports & Follow-up
R1. Edgar Cayce’s reading during 1902-1903 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, conducted by Mr. Al C. Layne - Excerpt from Edgar Cayce’s diary [Dictated to GD in summer of 1932]:
During this same period a Mr. Stowe requested a reading for his wife, giving her name as Mrs. H. Stowe. It was said by those present that the reply came, “There are several here - which one?” Then her address was given (for he had been married several times), and the reply came that she had only a few days to live - complications of some kind.
No stenographic reports were kept of these readings for the first few years, and then only spasmodically where individual cases were taken down to be verified for records. Practically always some individual was present other than the one conducting the reading.
R2. GD’s note: I believe this was the first indication in a reading that Edgar Cayce’s subconscious was aware of those who had passed on. Evidently the husband’s initial was used instead of the woman’s given name, or else she and the former deceased wife had the same initial.
