This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 21st day of June, 1934, in accordance with request made by the brother - Mr. […], new Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]

Vaughn Memorial Time of Reading Hospital, 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Selma, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [588].

  2. As we find, conditions are very serious. In the beginning the inception of these conditions, as we find, was rather from adhesions in the area of the liver and gall duct area; and this area has extended to the walls of the stomach itself, the duodenum being involved to such an extent as to prevent any great amount of passage of those forces that make for the assimilations being active in the system; allowing poisons and accumulations, and the conditions to set up in itself.

  3. It has reached such stages that there is not a great deal that may be done, as we find, unless there is some immediate action; or some applications made as to stop the inroads of the condition, that is more or less of a malignant nature in its present activity.

  4. To make for the easier conditions, as we find for the body, we would first - or immediately - begin with the very small doses of a compound prepared in this manner:

Limewater…1 ounce, Cinnamon water…1 ounce, Bromide of Potassium, 10% solution…20 minims, Iodide of Potassium, 20% solution…10 minims.

The dose would be a quarter to half a teaspoonful, that may be given every two hours.

  1. The other water taken would be in the form of Yellow Saffron water, made as a tea - using a teaspoonful of the Saffron leaves or bark to a pint of water, allowing it to steep for twenty to thirty minutes, you see.

  2. This will settle the stomach, ease or allay the nausea, the tendency for the STRAINING - which, of course, will eventually break the blood vessels unless checked (some of which have already); but will allay the condition, as we find.

  3. Then, within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, begin with the Animated Ash - one-eighth grain twice each day, emptied out of the capsule DRY on tongue and washed down with the Saffron water. Morning and evening.

  4. This, with the above mentioned properties, should ALLAY the conditions.

  5. Should the body respond to these applications, we would then BIND the whole body around the waist, over the abdomen and abdominal area, and especially over the liver, with Castor Oil packs; first massaging the body gently with Cocoa Butter, especially over the stomach and the liver area. The Castor Oil packs should then SURROUND the body, from the sternum - or just below the rib - to that just above the caecum area, so that we cover the liver, the spleen, the whole activity here of the colon area, you see. Wrap the cloth around the body, three thicknesses of flannel dipped in Castor Oil and applied as warm as possible, but necessarily not TOO hot for the body. These packs should be kept up for two to three hours morning and evening, you see, which should allow the passages from the alimentary canal to drain off; if the above suggested applications make for a checking of the inroads.

  6. After the fourth to fifth day, should the body respond at all, we would give further instructions. The response depends upon how closely those things suggested are applied.

  7. To be sure, these applications do not interfere with the hypnotics nor the properties that have been given to EASE the body from pain; but these, of course, only tend to check the pain itself.

  8. While the palliative measures that we have indicated, through the use of the Ash and the other applications, should make for a prolonging of the vital forces to sustain the activity; and, if we find responses, we may overcome much of these by other applications that may be made for the body.

  9. Try this, as we find, first.

  10. Ready for questions.

  11. (Q) Should this information be wired or sent special delivery? (A) Wire for Ash; send this special delivery. Have Ash sent direct to […] [[588]‘s brother].

Nourishments, of course, will be those indicated by the attendants for such troubles and such conditions; which will be very little, of course, at present; those that are easy for the stomach, yet that carry rebuilding properties. Do this.

  1. We are through for the present.
