This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of October, 1934, in accordance with request made by his mother-in-law, Mrs. [618], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis.]

Time of Reading 11:30 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have had the body before. Not so good do we find the general reactions in the present. There has been the tendency for the conditions where the digestive forces of the system show the strains that have been made and are being made upon the body, for the lining of the cardiac portion of the stomach to be giving a good deal of trouble, through the caking - or the burning sensation that arises from the irritation in the stomach proper.

  2. As we find, we would change in the immediate from those things that have been suggested, to more of this nature:

  3. First let all of the water that is taken (of course, except when milk or coffee or the like is taken) carry either elm or Yellow Saffron.

  4. And begin with very minute doses of Olive Oil, and take all the body will assimilate. That means take about a quarter teaspoonful every two or three hours. Or as the body is outside in the activities at times, we would have a small bottle - turn it to the tongue and swallow what comes each time; not as a sip or swallow, but just a very small quantity taken every two or three hours. See?

  5. And we will overcome this regurgitation.

  6. Be mindful that we do not have too heavy a diet.

  7. And then, in the course of ten days to two weeks, we may resume those things or follow that outline heretofore given for the body through these sources.

  8. Ready for questions.

  9. (Q) What produced this present condition? (A) Strain from a painter’s colic [GD’s note: Mr. [624] lived to be 67 years of age. We did not know until his death notice appeared that he had been maintenance man in a large building which required constant repainting in some area.], or from swallowing tobacco juices - or a poison of SOME nature for the body. These have produced the irritations.

  10. (Q) What causes the hot water and bloody hemorrhages from the mouth? (A) Regurgitation; the system attempting to throw about the irritated portions the lymph, and it causes the flow of the water from the gastric juices of the stomach itself - as also the blood that comes with same at times.

  11. (Q) What causes the swelling on left side? (A) This is at the area where the swelling is on the stomach itself, see? Natural result. When this comes, we would paint the place with two parts of laudanum to one part of aconite - and put a hot water bottle over same. This will ease it, and take it down too!

  12. We are through with this reading.

Copy to Self - through Mrs. [618] ” ” Ass’n file

(10/31/34 GD’s note: You will probably have to get a doctor to prescribe the laudanum and aconite, or prepare it for you. I believe Dr. James R. Parker in the Bankers Trust Bldg., would do this for you - if you show him that portion of the reading.)
