[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis.]
At daughter’s Time of Reading home, 6:35 to 6:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ill. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [652].
-
Now, as we find, there are specific conditions that disturb the better functioning of the body. There are in the present acute conditions that have arisen from the general disorder, or from an overtaxed nerve system - and the strain on same has brought about an acute condition.
-
The regurgitation in the stomach, nausea, a little temperature, quickness of pulse, lack of appetite, the hot and cold sensations are the effects of this clogging in the system produced by an acute condition in the colon, as reproduced by the congestion in the liver area.
-
As we find, the effects need these conditions:
-
We would prepare two different solutions, one to give at the hour and the other at the half hour - until there is quiet or relief.
-
First, to 2 ounces of Simple Syrup, add:
Tincture of Valerian…1/2 ounce, Elixir of Calisaya…1/2 ounce, Tincture of Stillingia…1/4 ounce, Syrup of Ipecac…20 minims.
This would be given on the hour, half a teaspoonful in a little water.
- The other solution would be a combination of:
Limewater…1 ounce, Cinnamon Water…1 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…40 minims, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…30 minims.
Give a teaspoonful on the half hour.
-
In the relief this will bring, we will find it necessary to stimulate the eliminations from the body. We would then, tomorrow, give a high enema - and the Caroid and Bile Salts tablets taken in the evening and morning; two tablets at each dose.
-
We would then, in the third day, begin with the manipulations that will relax the body; not only from the congestions in the upper dorsal and through the cervical but specifically in those ganglia where the hypogastric and pneumogastric cross. These we would give osteopathically. There should be at least six to twelve manipulations and adjustments given, that should bring this body - [652] - near to a normal condition. These would be given about three to four times the first week, and then twice each week.
-
Also in the present we would apply a hot salt application to the back of the head, for the relief of the strain produced by the inclination for heaving or vomiting, and to relieve the headache and strain on the eyes.
-
These, then, we would have - first the specifics now, then for the eliminations to make for the better activities in the general taxation to the nervous forces of the body, then the manipulations and adjustments in the areas indicated for the relief of the GENERAL strain that has become acute in the present.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) In giving the second compound on the half hour, does that mean every half hour or - (A) (Interrupting) On every half hour until this condition is relieved.
-
(Q) Should these prescriptions be wired? (A) These prescriptions should be wired - for the evening, you see.
-
(Q) What should be given as nourishment? (A) Semi-liquid foods should be given as the diet - on which the body has maintained - being the better.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 9/10/34 EC’s letter:
My dear Mr. [643]:
“After your telephone call the other evening we attempted immediately to get the reading for Mrs. [652]. We were just sitting down to supper, but I hadn’t eaten - so was able to get to sleep. As you know, I cannot get a reading within two hours after eating. We wired you the information straight message, but found to our astonishment next morning that the wire still hadn’t been delivered. I certainly hope Mrs. [652] is getting along nicely and not having any more trouble. I don’t suppose it was very much in keeping with her idea to have to turn to medicine so much, but it seemed necessary at that time. I believe there is good in all methods of treatment; that it is simply a question of fitting each to the individual needs at the time. I believe that all healing comes from the same source, regardless of the method used to bring it about materially.
“We are quite anxious to hear from her and hope you will drop us a line at the first opportunity. I haven’t as yet heard anything from Reilly, though I’m expecting a letter at any time.
“I certainly hope things are getting in better shape for you in every way, and that you yourself are feeling a lot better.
“Appreciating your interest and hoping to have been of a service, I am”
Sincerely, EC:GD
R2. 9/8/34 Mr. [643]‘s letter: “Thanks a lot for the prompt action re Mrs. [652]. I was much frightened. She WAS sick. When she pulls down the flag, about three times in 31 years, something has happened. I am trying to get the ingredients for her, and for myself [643-1], but there will be some not obtainable at Sargent’s here. The real drug store.”
R3. Subsequent readings were obtained for their son, [567].
