Time of Reading 12:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Miss. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: We have the body here - this we have had before. While the conditions are bettered physically in and about the body from that as we last had same, still there are those existent forces in system that are very aggravating, very detrimental to the better physical conditions of the body.
-
Would the body carry out in toto those things as have been GIVEN FOR the elimination of these conditions, and not stop when - or just because - the body feels better, but eliminate the CAUSES, we would find better physical health, better conditions in the activities of the body would ensue!
-
That there are those conditions that bring about irritations from those infections as come from teeth, gums, these are apparent. This is a cause, and ALSO an effect, as has been indicated. There are existent in the cerebro-spinal system impingements that prevent the normal flow of the blood supply and nerve energy to the head and to the neck, and to the nasal cavity, to the larynx. Hence easily does the body take cold, inflammation occurs in the mucus membranes of throat and nose, eyes, antrum; also we have those conditions in the gum produced from same. Then the EFFECTS as are produced from this infection, this swallowed into the system, we have an irritation in the mucus membranes of the digestive system itself, prolapsus in the descending colon, and we have what might be termed a mild form of a hoof-and-mouth disease. These are INFECTIOUS forces. Then, we would, to REMOVE these disorders in the present, have as this:
-
First we would have those ADJUSTMENTS made in the cerebro-spinal system, either those osteopathically or chiropractically; PREFERABLY the osteopathic manipulations AND adjustments. There should be at least fifteen to twenty such treatments taken, with at least HALF the same being adjustments in the lumbar, the dorsal, and especially in the upper dorsal and cervical area.
-
We would use local applications for the conditions in the mouth and throat. We would use the Ipsab for the gums. We would use the Dobell’s solution (and that that is already prepared - you may buy it at the drug store) as a spray for throat, nose and nasal cavity.
-
We would use an intestinal antiseptic for the stomach and the intestinal disorders; using charcoal as a disinfectant, as also with Glyco-Thymoline - which would be taken, a charcoal tablet of evenings before retiring; of mornings from three to five drops of Glyco-Thymoline in a half a glass or a glass of WARM water, see? not hot, but hot enough not to make sick - see?
-
Beware of too much sugars or pastries. No ice cream. None of the fish or sea foods. Little meat may be taken, provided same is fowl or lamb; the broth from others may be taken, but not too much of the meats.
-
As for the intestinal disorders, we would use the high irrigations. Necessary, with the natural conditions that exist there, that these be taken GENTLY; not that the irrigation tubes be extended too high, but that the colon be cleansed.
-
We will find the condition will be corrected for this body. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should any of the teeth be extracted? (A) First we would use these as we have outlined; then if the indications are as they are - Some two or three need local attention, but these - as we find - not NECESSARILY be removed, provided local attention is given - and they are clarified first.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/11/31 [654]‘s letter:
”…I have started on the treatments and shall follow the reading to the letter and I’m sure it will help me. I feel better already. I told you in my letter in June that I was out of the Ipsab. Will you please send me some at once. As you know, my husband doesn’t believe in your work or in the osteopath, so it makes it rather hard for me sometimes as he won’t give me the money. I will send the $10 just as soon as I get my allowance, which will be about the 15th… I certainly thank you for all you have done for me…”
R2. 9/16/31 EC’s letter:
”…Yes, I know the antagonism that must be in […] [your husband’s] mind about the work, but that’s an individual’s opinion. One who has tried it should at least be better able to judge…”
R3. 9/26/31 [654]‘s letter:
”…I have started on my treatments - have taken twelve and I’m feeling a great deal better, and am sure I shall be well when I finish all the things you told me to do. I shall send the other $5 as soon as I can…”
R4. 2/11/32 [654]‘s letter:
”…I am glad to say I am feeling much better. We went to Selma [Ala.] for Xmas and while there I had the ‘flu’ for about a week, was quite ill, but managed to keep up and going. I haven’t seemed to gain any strength since then, have been very weak.
“I took 18 treatments from the osteopath; they seemed to help me in some ways but in others seemed to injure. I’m better in every way except the prolapsus in the colon and the piles. I’ve tried to follow your instructions as near as I can. Could you tell me without giving another reading if I’m doing everything right or if I need something more?…” [She also requested 653-1 for her daughter.]
R5. 2/20/32 EC advised that she take psyllium seed and use high colonic irrigations.
R6. 2/25/32 [654]‘s letter:
”…The Ipsab was in good shape and I thank you very much for your promptness in sending it. Also thank you very much for telling me what to do. I shall send for the psyllium seed at once and am sure it will help me. The time set for my daughter’s reading is satisfactory…”
R7. 4/3/32 [654]‘s letter:
”…I took 18 treatments from a Dr. Ellis when you told me to take the osteopathic treatments, but she did me more harm than good. After her treatment all the organs dropped clear down and I’ve been taking exercises for about 6-7 months trying to get them back up. Am lots better. I’m quite sure the treatment would have helped me if I had gotten a good doctor. She told me she could give the treatment just as you said they should be given, but I’ll try to find a better one this time [for daughter [653]‘s treatment]… If I can’t find an osteopath will a chiropractor do?…”
R8. 4/7/32 See EC’s reply to above letter under 653-1, daughter’s report, urging her to return to Dr. Ellis for the daughter’s treatment. Rest of EC’s letter:
”…I’m glad to know you are feeling better. Have you been using a support to assist in getting the organs back in their proper relative position, with your exercises? This we find often very helpful. Not necessary to buy any special thing; just use some heavy material that may be bound very tightly about your waist yourself. Of course, pulling or putting the organs in place before you put this on. Use this especially when you are to be on your feet for any time…”
R9. 4/13/32 [654]‘s letter:
”…Thanks for telling me about the support. I haven’t been using any until a few weeks ago I started wearing a girdle which has helped quite a bit. I think I shall soon be alright in that respect…”
R10. 4/19/32 EC’s letter:
”…I am glad you have found the girdle helpful. I feel sure it would prove very beneficial for you to make yourself take specific exercises night and morning - the regular setting-up exercise, but don’t do it one day and then leave it off the next. Do it regularly night and morning for at least ten days or two weeks on a stretch. Standing erect and stooping, bending sideways, bending forward and touching the floor (when you can!). Then when you put on the support the position of the organs will be nearer in place. Not that you would exercise so as to make them fall down any, but it would tend to pull them - especially where you bend forward. Try that.
“I hope you gave your mother [979] my address. I’ve always enjoyed her letters so much throughout the years. Sorry that [286] and her husband haven’t as yet gotten settled. It is hard to think of Lamar & Shanks having to close. They have always been looked upon as one of the most substantial firms in Selma. I hope they will get their affairs adjusted so they will go on.
“We were glad to send the list of foods. To be sure, you have Miss Davis to thank for that - more than myself. I certainly hope you will let us hear from you from time to time, as to just how you get along - and as to just how [653] improves. [See 653-1.] We are always more than glad to try and be of service, and if our letters have been of help - then our purposes and aims, in the name of our Heavenly Father and of our Master, have in part been fulfilled. Our whole purpose and aim in life is to be of service to our fellow man, through the Master - not of ourselves; for of ourselves we can do nothing.
“With kindest regards to you and yours…”
R11. 3/23/33 [654]‘s mother [979]‘s letter to EC:
”…Mrs. [654] is much better, she wrote me in her last letter. She had a sick spell about Xmas but was not confined to bed as long as past years. Mr. Cayce, what is her trouble? You know from her many readings. I would like to know if it’s anything she could avoid or why she is sick so much. She was such a healthy girl and I wish so to be able to help her if I knew how…”
R12. 4/4/33 EC’s letter to [654]‘s mother [979]:
”…A long time I have wondered about Mrs. [654]. I haven’t heard from her now for some little time. The specific conditions, Mrs. [979], I am sure you must have guessed long ago; but I should think the greater portion of this has been eliminated from the system. However, I have wondered why Mrs. [654] hasn’t followed a little bit more closely and gotten rid entirely of all these troublesome conditions. How has her little girl gotten?…”
R13. 4/13/33 [654]‘s mother [979]‘s letter to EC:
”…Yes, I have suspected something not right but didn’t know just what. I feared at one time that she took dope of some kind, thought being sick so much and doctors give it so much, that she had got a habit she couldn’t overcome, and I knew you would know from readings you have given her. I also had another fear but did not or could not accuse unless I knew. Her little girl is no longer a little girl but a young lady. [654] tells me she, [653], is better. I have tried so hard to bring all my children up in the fear of the Lord, and to live for the higher things. It’s almost more than one can endure if they depart from the right way. Pray for me and for them, please…”
R14. 8/26/34 Mrs. [654]‘s letter:
”…I’m really ashamed to write after such a long delay.
I know you think I don’t appreciate the many things you have done for me and mine, but such is not the case. I’ve thought of you and your great work often and intended to write long ago but somehow I just haven’t been able to get my mind together enough to write. [She reported on daughter’s reading 653-1.]
“I should like to know what causes these terrible pains in my feet. They shoot through my feet just like a knife and almost make me scream. It may be caused from my kidneys as I think they are out of order. About 2 months ago I had all my jaw teeth pulled, was in the hospital about 2 weeks; they had to give me ether as my teeth were so hard to pull. I was terribly nervous for several weeks. I can’t seem to remember things well now and can’t concentrate… I still have trouble with the piles and prolapsed organs… You are so close to God I can feel it in your letters and they help me up, and give me courage and faith, something I’ve needed very much…”
