This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of September, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [670], through Active Membership of his father, Mr. [333], in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: Body and enquiring mind, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to his life and work. According to his Life Reading and his own desires, he has chosen the field of research and archaeology. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [670]. This we have had before. Also we have the information which has been given respecting his life’s work, and the manner and the channels through which these indications from the activities of the entity would find the greater satisfaction and the greater development in the material experience.

3. To be sure, first, in choosing what may be the channel or manner of expression of any individual, that in which the soul-entity or mind or soul body has engaged, or for which it has fitted itself through the mental buildings in the varied experiences, makes for a choice wherein there may be not only the greater advancement but greater satisfaction obtained for such an entity.

4. Let this choice, however, for development, mean more and more being in at-onement with the Creative Forces, the Creative activity within the experience. For each expression of a soul in any phase of its experience may be that it, such a soul, may - through the works, the thoughts, the activity - become a greater channel of expression of that Creative Force in the material world.

5. This is the natural growth, the purpose for which each entity enters into an experience; that there may be the greater expression of the Creative Forces in, through, for, of, its fellow man.

7. (Q) What connections and applications should I make in the immediate future? (A) Some channels have been opened. In the immediate we would make those connections wherever any institution, any school, any research organization is making preparations or planning for archaeological research.

Such as through the Natural History, the Smithsonian Institute, Penn University, George Washington University, the University of California, University of Chicago; and all their kindred associations. To be sure, through the curator of any museum or institution that is headed by an investigator or research worker; these would be the better channels (that have been approached) through which applications should be made.

8. (Q) Would the suggestion given me by Dr. Bennett, of the American Museum of National History, in regard to research work at Santa Fe, be the most favorable for me to follow at this time? (A) Most favorable at the present; unless those that are to begin the latter part of December - or part that’s already gone and another portion to go in December and in February from Pennsylvania. Any of these will be channels through which FAVORABLE action may be had.

9. (Q) How should I go about making connections with Penn, in this regard? (A) Through the same sort of channels; through letters from individuals whom the entity knows who may make suggestions to those in the research organization or department of same.

10. (Q) Would it be advisable for me to join one of the Civilian Conservation camps; until I make the proper connections and have an opportunity to become actively engaged in research work? (A) This would be the more profitable in the immediate future, yes. We would file the applications and make connections for such associations in the research field, even through the Conservation Camp - to the larger institute, or the Smithsonian - see?

11. (Q) Would it be advisable for me to see Dr. Johannes Greber in regard to Egyptian excavations? (A) We do not find this to be of any IMMEDIATE help or advantage; for these are rather in the present in the hands mostly of the BRITISH explorations. But once begun, on any trip or any portion of an expedition that the entity may join with, whether it be for Government (the Government the better) or for some institution, it gives or lends that ability for the entity to show not only his aptitude but his ability to work with those in all phases of such activities, see?

12. (Q) Any further information that would assist me at this time? (A) Make preparations, by obtaining - from those of the Natural History, those of the Institutions - the activities OF those in their research, so that the terms and the activities are a part of the individual in its conversation. For that which we prepare for, that which we prepare to meet within ourselves, grows and grows, and takes hold; and has its effect not only upon those the entity may approach but those with whom the entity may converse as respecting THEIR conversation with those interested in such activities, see?

Do that.

R1. 9/18/35 “I rec’d the Ck. Life Rdg. and also your following letter. I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your very kind consideration and your thoughtful interest. I will let you know when I have made the proper connections.”

R2. 12/30/35 Letter from Mrs. [264] to GD: ”…Mr. [333], Mrs. [602] and [670] came to see us last night. Mr. [333] was SO enthusiastic about the work, and asking what I knew, etc., that they stayed until after twelve o’clock. I was glad to see them. They are here (following [670]‘s reading) trying to line him up in that research work. They are not planning to go back to New York or New Jersey. He plans to go to Norfolk to live after he gets the boy placed. He seems such a nice boy…”

R3. 1/14/36 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “Without man’s aid, but with the guidance from within, I have been used during this past week as a channel to put [670] in the place he so much wanted to be for a start - the archaeological laboratory of the Smithsonian Institute.

“I was consciously led through the streets of this city strange to me and to the building and to the man without a foreknowledge of him or any form of introduction. Met him without difficulty and he agreed with everything I had to say almost before I could get the words out of my mouth, and [670] went to work the following morning. Can you imagine the joy this brought.”

R4. 2/11/36 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [257]: “Yes, we’ve heard from [333] in D.C. - seems that he got his boy to work there, as the reading suggested - which will help them both out - if the boy will stick.”

R5. 4/7/36 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “[670] is carrying on at the Museum and his work has brought much favorable comment and he is well liked by the men he works for who do not fail to express their appreciation of his efforts to do a good job and try to learn.”

R6. 4/26/36 Mr. [670]‘s letter: “I have been working for three months at the U.S. National Museum, as an apprentice; restoring broken Indian pottery. A Mr. Judd who is Curator of Archaeology here gave me the opportunity. I find the work very interesting and I would like to know if there are other connections I should be making, if there is some preparation I could make to be ready for the next step, that I may progress and be of greater value in doing the work that He would have me do.

“You have given me so much help with no compensation that I hesitate to ask for more, but I have taken the liberty of composing a list of questions that I should like to ask in a ck. Life Rdg., should you graciously decide to oblige. As you know, I have been working solely for the educational advantages I may derive. I have not been able to meet my last obligation to you, but I am inclined to think that with the advantage of another rdg. I would soon be able to meet them both…”
